Gafner H.July 2024Pozytywne- Location by the bathing lake, quiet and directly on wonderful walking pathsNegatywne- Price/performance is very poor! - Cheap sanitary facilities - Rather moderately friendly staffNice location and expensiveThe campsite is beautiful, has a very relaxing atmosphere and is also an ideal starting point for excursions to top destinations in Valais. The insider tip of Val d'Anniviers and Crans Montana are only a few minutes away by car and are also easily accessible by public transport from the campsite. The... footpath along the Rhone, right next to the campsite, is also great.
But it costs. Two people with a dog CHF 50 per night. Would be ok at a comfortable level. But the pitches should not offer enough space for a 7 meter caravan, awning and car. There are just two water points on the part of the site facing the Rhone, the sanitary facilities are completely outdated, in need of renovation and look dingy. The one on the part of the campsite facing the reception is cheaply built (container or something), but ok. The chemical toilet sink does not flush.

The prices, on the other hand, are not so "simple". 2x Coke, 2x small (really small) salad, 1x pizza (vegetarian) and 1x fish crispy treats for just under CHF 70. - the bread selection is small (1x baguette, 1x croissant and 1x Weggli)- small tip to walk to the Coop gas station - the disposal station (gray and black water), well, it's not that great - to the sanitary facilities - this is exactly how I imagine them in the 80s - The WLAN is not usableWe would definitely come back.... butFirst of all, the price-performance ratio was impeccable.

Which is very tedious. The food is unfortunately not good either. Was worlds better with the previous owner! We loved staying at the campsite/restaurant. This year unfortunately a total negative... surprise as the owner has changed. Before the food was very good and the atmosphere was relaxed, the owner spoke good German and was a very likeable man. It's a real shame that this has changed, which means that the campsite is no longer a reason for us to come. On the homepage there are photos of a larger store...which has probably been moved and downsized? A large separate part of the site is occupied by permanent campers and fixed mobile homes. This part of the site looks a little neglected. The sanitary facilities are clean and modern, but too small when fully occupied. Since... this year you can get hot water without having to pay a franc. There is a restaurant on site, but it is not always open. Food is very scarce. There is a petrol station store about 1 km away where you can get the essentials. A little further away, in Sierre, there are various large shopping centers. There are hardly any rules on the site itself, as in many other places. The showers are free, have been for 3 years now, the store service is a weak point for us and we are trying to improve this. The restaurant is leased, opening hours are now adhered to and the reception is open daily, albeit only briefly in the early and late season.

I confirm the review written years ago!!! In Switzerland, it is extremely rare to be able to move around a campsite as freely and without... rules as at "Camping Swiss Plage" in Salgesch. A site with beautiful trees and natural pitches. You can daydream and unwind at the idyllic lake at any time of year. The noise from the nearby industrial area is bearable. Part of the site is crossed by a high-voltage power line. The container sanitary building takes some getting used to, as it contains dishwashing troughs, toilets and showers in a relatively small space. Dishes can also be washed outside the building in the "fresh air"!!! The store is only open for a few hours in spring and fall. On arrival we could choose our pitch and then register later at reception. Very nice site with beautiful trees and a small lake right next to the site. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities didn't always work, as sometimes the showers only... had cold water but the water taps were supplied with hot water! Despite everything, we were happy on the site and can recommend it to others. Sanitary facilities: old facilities mostly dirty (overflowing... toilet included), hot water the same as cold water (must be paid extra) New facilities are unfortunately not always open, but cleaner. Playground almost unusable, old, defective equipment. Store closed in low season. Service in the restaurant does not seem very motivated to cater for German-speaking tourists. We are very sorry that you were disappointed with our camping! We responded immediately to your reactions, replaced soaps (cleaning lady had diluted them as there were none left - communication problem!), also replaced water plugs and made the cleaning lady aware of odors and cleanliness... (which we check several times a day!) It would also have been valuable to make this comment in the office so that we could respond directly.
Official opening time 2 hours, but the staff is always available in the immediate vicinity of the reception!
Hope you still have fond memories of the Valais!

Shower costs 1.- CHF for approx. 3min. Temperature not adjustable! No possibility to dry your hands. There is no possibility to close the sink at the dishwashing basin. Store and restaurant are... unfortunately closed. Reception is only open from 17-18h.
