My fridge had given up the ghost, but the website advertised a store and restaurant on site. So I thought I could stock up on everything I needed on site for 4 days and enjoy the beautiful lake on my SUP.
Even the approach was... adventurous. The satnav claimed that just after Bucha there was a left turn into the forest. But there was a sign saying "No vehicles of any kind" = a white circle with a red border. No indication of the campsite. But there is no other access road to the campsite, says the navigation system. That's the way it is. Eyes closed and through. It's a single-lane road for about 5 km without guard rails to the steep precipice, with a few small passing bays.
Arriving at the campsite, I first need a cold drink in the shade at 36°. The store and reception are located together. Everything is manageable, as it is essentially a beer shop, there is also wine, no food apart from UHT milk, a few bottles of mineral water and 2 bottles of lemonade as non-alcoholic drinks.
When I asked where the restaurant was, the woman at reception explained in astonishment that it had been closed for a long time.
My vacation came to an abrupt end at that point. Just get out of here. On the way back, 5 km uphill to the main road, I prayed that I wouldn't be met by a horse and cart from above ...
It would be nice if the website didn't overlook the details so generously. The site is practically unreachable by phone. Once functionally well laid out and with an excellent infrastructure, it has been steadily going downhill for a few years now. Stable management failure has led to an overload and... exodus of qualified staff and increasing gaps in service, maintenance and repair of the infrastructure.
For example, the sign "Defective sanitary infrastructure, soap dispensers missing" is being posted more and more frequently. The expensively leased jetties are showing increasing wear and tear and damage, the adjustments to changing water levels are being missed, resulting in damage to the jetties and the threat of boats lying dry. The neglect seems to be an essential part of the current operator's work; the necessary costs to maintain the condition of the site are being foregone and the substance of the infrastructure and staff are being sacrificed. This pitch was only about 3.5 x 8m. The Wohmo fitted on it but it... was not possible to roll out the awning. Nevertheless, the same price was charged as for a fully-fledged campsite. It was really nice. The tent was right on the water. The staff were more than friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities were new and clean, but unfortunately there was something wrong with the pipes and it smelled awful. I hope this will be... fixed quickly. The little shop is great with everything you need at fair prices. Fresh bread rolls every morning if you like. Our dog was treated great and was very welcome. Great for relaxing outside of the vacations. For families with children also a great place (if the weather plays along) we can really recommend it and will definitely come back. The lake is breathtakingly beautiful. Especially early in the morning. We were able to pitch our tent right by the water. We look forward to the next time. The site is well suited for swimming (and possibly sightseeing in Saalfeld). The pitches are mostly equipped with electricity, water and drainage. No pitch dividers such as bushes or similar, so it can happen... that you "stick" to your neighbor. Caravans are usually set up at the foot of the slope - there is still a slight gradient to the lake due to rainwater drainage - vehicles are therefore not always exactly horizontal. One contrast is the ultra-modern sanitary facilities, with access restricted by transponders. This is obviously necessary to ensure that only camping guests can enter. This transponder is also used to charge for water consumption when showering. I'm not a shower token fan, so this system is perhaps just about bearable. A new restaurant is (still / for how long?) closed. The CP operators are exceptionally friendly and courteous. The parking lot for arriving / departing guests in front of the reception is miniature and with a slope. A car and trailer can just about manage. There are quite narrow roads to negotiate on the approach. A lot has been done on the site in recent years, there is a new sanitary building (on the mountain) as well as water and electricity connections at almost every pitch. We have been coming to this site for many years. The site has developed very positively over the years and is one of the most beautiful at the Hohewarte dam. But where there is sunshine, there are also clouds. At Whitsun I missed the usual cleanliness of the sanitary facilities... a bit, the place was also full, but since this is the rule on this holiday, you can also adjust to the crowds -> please improve :-) The next point is the pricing. A pavilion with 9sqm for 7€, the caravan (with awning) next to it with 30sqm costs 6€ and the pavilion is on the same plot! Unfortunately, this is not comprehensible to us. Otherwise, nothing but praise for this site and its operators. Delicious rolls (from the bakery, not home-baked) and good village pubs nearby. We see no alternative to this site and would happily return. The arrival is via a very narrow road, but it is not to be changed, if you don't like it you have to park your caravan somewhere else, maybe they will think about a traffic light, like at the other places, if necessary there are alternative bays.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.

The access road is steep but well paved. Only the area in front of the barrier on the slope should be much larger. You have to be adventurous to register. The sanitary facilities are exceptionally good. If... all the pitches are occupied, it will certainly be very crowded. However, the staff definitely need to be trained in friendliness. Very nice quiet location directly on the lake. However, the approach is unsuitable for very large caravans, as the road to the site is very narrow and steep (you come over the mountains into the bay). The paths... on the site are also very narrow. Vacationers can camp directly on the lake. Lots of permanent campers on site. The new sanitary building is super modern and very clean. It is also equipped with a nice children's bathroom. As it's the only sanitary building, you shouldn't camp at the other end of the site, otherwise it's too far. Unfortunately, it is difficult to lie directly on the beach as it is only a pebble/stone beach. The prices are slightly above the local level. The electricity is quite expensive (60 cents/kwh + connection fee). The playground and restaurant are still under construction. And that's only because of the really beautiful area. The place itself is the worst I have ever seen!!! It starts with the welcome, you are asked if you have a power adapter with you but not pointed out that you have to be told if you want... one, no, you'd rather walk all over the place and ask to turn on the electricity, and we only have bread service if you come and order some on your own. The sanitary facilities, if you can call them that, were so disgusting that you had to avoid doing your business until it was really no longer possible or use your own camping toilet. Showers were extremely dirty including hair everywhere dirt everywhere dead insects everywhere!!!! Doors were partly defective and when the shower token was empty you had to walk naked through the whole bathroom, because the activation boxes were hanging at the entrance.privacy was zero even to dry off or change clothes you had to stand in the room because nothing was separated.for one shower 5min you needed 3min.until hot water came.a cheek. The toilets were full once.... And that remained until we pointed it out, without words, not to mention the stench, don't be blinded by the newly built sanitary building because it is still under construction and we were there this summer 2013.
