However, the reservation wasn't even necessary as the whole site was still in hibernation and there were hardly any tourist campers there. So we shared the entire C-meadow with only... 4 other campers, the rest remained empty. Most of the time it was quiet, but there were a lot of permanent campers on site who were getting their pitches ready for the camping season and therefore made a lot of noise during the lunch break by mowing the lawn, trimming hedges and shredding branches. However, it was quiet in the evening and at night.
There is electricity and water all over the meadow, but it is better to have a longer cable reel with you. The meadow is quite flat and the grass was mowed quite short.
There is a modern wash house right next to the C meadow. There was enough toilet paper and there was none missing as described in other reviews here. The wash house was also clean. However, there were only 4 shower cubicles for the men. This could lead to waiting times in high season when the meadow is fully occupied and the permanent campers are also on site. At least the showers work without shower coins or chip cards.
Otherwise, there was surprisingly nothing going on on the site. The "Wildkehlchen" restaurant was therefore still closed (although it was open on their Facebook page) and the bread roll service was not yet available. But that doesn't excuse the conditions here. There are far too few showers and toilets, which are dirty to boot. Cleaning should be stepped up right now, but no way! The garbage cans on the beach are only emptied pro forma. That stinks and attracts wasps.... The beach itself is great and swimming in the lake is also fantastic. But as the beach is small, there is no minimum distance. This is partly due to the day visitors who only come here to swim.
Incidentally, we have a premium pitch, which costs 4 euros extra per day. Premium means here:
No view of the lake
No water connection
No waste water
but the noise from the beach
I somehow imagined it differently.
Fishing is also very difficult here. It's forbidden wherever guests are swimming. So the only option is fishing from a boat. But only in certain areas and the boat must have an anchor. However, there was never any mention of these restrictions when I asked by phone.
Fortunately, the much-described lakeside pavilion was closed. So we were spared the pop music. But unfortunately the kiosk was also closed. Well, tough luck.

Its size is not a problem because the square extends over a large area and several levels. Where the 4 **** come from is a mystery to us.... Sanitary facilities: not exactly clean. In high season, cleaning is probably not enough for the many guests. No toilet paper.... The ladies' soap dispensers were always empty. No disinfectant dispensers. Out of 3 showers, 3 are broken and splash in all directions or there is a trickle of water. Even the pretty mosaics on the walls are of no use to me. Family-friendly is how they describe their place...there is not a single family bathroom or children's bathroom where you can wash and bathe your baby. Only a loveless and too narrow changing cubicle in the ladies' toilet. The playground is well equipped and large, but unfortunately very unkempt. Our daughter was able to play there in the morning with the garbage left by the youngsters from the evening. Bags, candy wrappers, leftover food, plasters (used), ice cream sticks and so on and so forth. When choosing your spot, you should definitely pay attention to how the path to the lake is. Partly not possible with baby carriages. The meadow for day guests/ vacationers is very noisy. We saw many empty and run-down pitches among the permanent campers. When we booked a beautifully situated pitch with a view of the lake, we were not told... what to expect. If you are looking for peace and quiet at the weekend, this campsite is definitely the wrong choice! The Schlagerterror should go from 19 to 22 clock. It ended at 11 p.m. We were surrounded by families with small children and dogs who couldn't sleep a wink. I also found it impossible that there was no toilet paper. It should be mentioned on the homepage so that you are prepared. The same goes for the program of the See Pavillon. In two weeks there will be a dance course including a cocktail evening... To make matters worse, the groundsman was extremely unfriendly. I was shouted at by him and had to listen to his announcement without disagreeing. I had been fishing next to the bathing area with a fishing license. There was a lot written on the fishing license, but nothing about a bathing spot fishing ban. A short, quiet note would have been enough and I could have lived with it. But the groundsman immediately shouted at me as if I had just dismembered a swan on the beach. Conclusion: on a quiet weekend or during the week, the pitches by the lake are certainly very nice. You should find out beforehand whether there is permanent camping fun at the lake pavilion and avoid the groundsman. You need a boat for fishing, as either reed beds or bathing spots line the shore. Next time I will go to the Schaalsee Camp. There is nature camping there that deserves the name. The staff are very friendly and electronic music is forbidden there. So we went there. The journey from Hamburg went quickly, the reception was friendly and well staffed. Then we were told that Camping am See was fully booked and only pitches A-C were free. These are... for day guests. And the following description: The site stretches for several hundred meters along the lake, but there are only permanent campers. There is a very small area by the lake where a few tents and smaller caravans and buses can be parked. There is also a small bathing bay. By small, I mean small. And a beach volleyball court. It's nice to stand there, no question. But only there. Pitches A, B and C are further up behind the permanent campsites and you can't see the lake at all. They are simply mown meadows that you can stand on. No hedges, trees etc., no view of the lake. You have to walk at least 5-10 minutes to get there and it's really difficult with a canoe, as a lady and her husband told me, who we assumed would also have a view of the lake for day visitors. The campsites have relatively modern sanitary blocks, without toilet paper and unfortunately only sparsely cleaned. Unfortunately, the water temperature cannot be regulated. Apart from a farm store, which is a 10-minute walk away, there are no shopping facilities on site. The farm store does not belong to the campsite and at least offers bread rolls. You have to go to Ratzeburg or Zarrentin to do your shopping. Good if you have a car with you. For campers or cyclists ... On the campsite you can order normal bread rolls in advance in the snack bar down by the lake. There are normal snack things, unfortunately totally loveless and with seating where you don't really want to eat. The site is designed for permanent campers and not for day guests. We felt completely excluded and deceived, as a meadow without a view of anything more than a hedge and other campers has nothing to do with nature camping for me.
