Canoes and sub-boards are prohibited on the beach. Unfortunately nobody cares. Until an accident happens!!! Wildkehlchen (restaurant) - very expensive and not really suitable for campingNo controlSuper nice location. Pure nature and beautiful lake that invites you to swim. - Heike S.April 2022PositivosThe situationNegativosSanitary facilities on the beach very unkempt. Some water taps defective. Too small for the mass of day campers. Wildkehlchen is new - but far too expensive for a campsite4 stars not justified!!!Waste garbage cans not within reach
Focus is on day and weekend campers. Some behave like Stone Age people.....
If you express your displeasure as a long-term camper, you are told to quit if you don't like it.
The management is not open to criticism!
What a pity!Traduzido automaticamente. - Dirk B.April 2022PositivosDuring our stay everything was quiet and relaxed except for the noisy permanent campersNegativosnoisy permanent campersFortunately quietWe were there on the first weekend after the Easter holidays in 2022 and had reserved a pitch on the C meadow in advance. However, the reservation wasn't even necessary as the whole site was still in hibernation and there were hardly any tourist campers there. So we shared the entire C-meadow with only... 4 other campers, the rest remained empty. Most of the time it was quiet, but there were a lot of permanent campers on site who were getting their pitches ready for the camping season and therefore made a lot of noise during the lunch break by mowing the lawn, trimming hedges and shredding branches. However, it was quiet in the evening and at night.
There is electricity and water all over the meadow, but it is better to have a longer cable reel with you. The meadow is quite flat and the grass was mowed quite short.
There is a modern wash house right next to the C meadow. There was enough toilet paper and there was none missing as described in other reviews here. The wash house was also clean. However, there were only 4 shower cubicles for the men. This could lead to waiting times in high season when the meadow is fully occupied and the permanent campers are also on site. At least the showers work without shower coins or chip cards.
Otherwise, there was surprisingly nothing going on on the site. The "Wildkehlchen" restaurant was therefore still closed (although it was open on their Facebook page) and the bread roll service was not yet available. However, you should be prepared for a long walk if you want to walk from the C-Wiese to the reception in the morning to get bread rolls and back.Traduzido automaticamente. - Niklas S.August 2021PositivosBeautiful location directly on the lakeNegativosOutdated, unkempt sanitary building (really disgusting conditions). In Corona times only one cleaning per week! Unfriendly, destructive staff. Unkempt place.Never again!!! Great location, nothing made of it...shame....Outdated, unkempt sanitary building (really disgusting conditions). In Corona times only one cleaning per week! Unfriendly, destructive staff. Unkempt place, very loveless. Kiosk with "daily fresh bread rolls" finally opened after 5 days. All you get to hear from reception is: "But it's supposed to be open"
Without exaggerating, the worst vacation of our lives. This place is pure mass processing.Traduzido automaticamente. - Stefan R.August 2020PositivosThe beautiful locationNegativosThe campsite is organized like a parking garage. There is a barrier system with the possibility of one exit/entry per day. Otherwise the barrier does not open. On the day of departure, you can only pack your tent wet/damp, as you have to leave the site at 11.00 am. If you are not at the barrier on time, you will be charged a full overnight fee shortly after 11.00 a.m., which must then be paid at the automatic pay station. This is clearly stated on the bill, which can certainly be interpreted as a threat. You can no longer use the beautiful beach on the day of departure, as you can't even find a parking space on the campsite's forecourt after check-out, as no parking signs have been put up everywhere. Electricity is automatically charged as a flat rate, even if you don't need electricity. Not recommended for a weekend trip, as it is not possible to relax on this site on a Sunday, just get up early, have a quick breakfast and pack up frantically. Here you have to pay. Why do you have to leave the campsite so early? No new camper arrives at 11.00 a.m.! If you could leave the campsite at 1.00 or 2.00 pm, you would have time to pack up in peace. The children could then go and play and everything would be fine. Stefan R.Not recommendedThe campsite is organized like a parking garage. Stefan R.Traduzido automaticamente. - Tanja Z.August 2020PositivosGreat lake for swimming, lots of natureNegativosA hell of a noise at the weekend, dirty sanitary facilities, fishing only from the boat, no shopping facilities, staff not exactly helpfulNever againI know that Corona has caused a lot of confusion. But that doesn't excuse the conditions here. There are far too few showers and toilets, which are dirty to boot. Cleaning should be stepped up right now, but no way! The garbage cans on the beach are only emptied pro forma. That stinks and attracts wasps.... The beach itself is great and swimming in the lake is also fantastic. But as the beach is small, there is no minimum distance. This is partly due to the day visitors who only come here to swim.
Incidentally, we have a premium pitch, which costs 4 euros extra per day. Premium means here:
No view of the lake
No water connection
No waste water
but the noise from the beach
I somehow imagined it differently.
Fishing is also very difficult here. It's forbidden wherever guests are swimming. So the only option is fishing from a boat. But only in certain areas and the boat must have an anchor. However, there was never any mention of these restrictions when I asked by phone.
Fortunately, the much-described lakeside pavilion was closed. So we were spared the pop music. But unfortunately the kiosk was also closed. Well, tough luck.
Conclusion: Despite the beautiful nature, we won't be vacationing here again.Traduzido automaticamente. - Caroline S.July 2019PositivosA beautiful lakeNegativosUnkempt, no charm. Nature camping does not mean leaving the world to its own devices....Wonderful location which unfortunately is not used for anythingThe location of the square is great. Its size is not a problem because the square extends over a large area and several levels. Where the 4 **** come from is a mystery to us.... Sanitary facilities: not exactly clean. In high season, cleaning is probably not enough for the many guests. No toilet paper.... The ladies' soap dispensers were always empty. No disinfectant dispensers. Out of 3 showers, 3 are broken and splash in all directions or there is a trickle of water. Even the pretty mosaics on the walls are of no use to me. Family-friendly is how they describe their place...there is not a single family bathroom or children's bathroom where you can wash and bathe your baby. Only a loveless and too narrow changing cubicle in the ladies' toilet. The playground is well equipped and large, but unfortunately very unkempt. Our daughter was able to play there in the morning with the garbage left by the youngsters from the evening. Bags, candy wrappers, leftover food, plasters (used), ice cream sticks and so on and so forth. When choosing your spot, you should definitely pay attention to how the path to the lake is. Partly not possible with baby carriages. The meadow for day guests/ vacationers is very noisy. We saw many empty and run-down pitches among the permanent campers. No shopping facilities except for a great farm store, which not everyone can afford. To cut a long story short: this is definitely not 4 stars.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Kai K.July 2019Positivos- Spacious driveway to reception - Friendly reception - Locker system is practicalNegativos- no toilet paper, very impractical - Sanitary cleaning must be done more often - Soap dispenser emptyWe had expected more from this place!Telephone contact and reception on site very friendly. Unfortunately, the place is very noisy. There is hammering, shredding and work going on here and there, regardless of the time of day. Lots of permanent campers, so lots of movement on the pitch. Too loud for us, even into the evening. There is no view of the lake from the meadow (C). The restaurant by the lake is not particularly inviting.Traduzido automaticamente.
- Ben B.July 2019PositivosGreat place right on the lake. Beautiful bike tours possible. Nature park tour, farm tour, lake bike tour etc.NegativosLow-level entertainment program for permanent campers possible at weekends, disturbing the peace and quiet. Unfriendly groundsman. Only boat fishing.Ballermann music and unfriendly groundsmanI am totally disappointed. The campsite is advertised as a nature campsite and then on Saturday evening, without warning, you are tormented by the lake pavilion with the worst pop music that Ballermann has to offer. When we booked a beautifully situated pitch with a view of the lake, we were not told... what to expect. If you are looking for peace and quiet at the weekend, this campsite is definitely the wrong choice! The Schlagerterror should go from 19 to 22 clock. It ended at 11 p.m. We were surrounded by families with small children and dogs who couldn't sleep a wink. I also found it impossible that there was no toilet paper. It should be mentioned on the homepage so that you are prepared. The same goes for the program of the See Pavillon. In two weeks there will be a dance course including a cocktail evening... To make matters worse, the groundsman was extremely unfriendly. I was shouted at by him and had to listen to his announcement without disagreeing. I had been fishing next to the bathing area with a fishing license. There was a lot written on the fishing license, but nothing about a bathing spot fishing ban. A short, quiet note would have been enough and I could have lived with it. But the groundsman immediately shouted at me as if I had just dismembered a swan on the beach. Conclusion: on a quiet weekend or during the week, the pitches by the lake are certainly very nice. You should find out beforehand whether there is permanent camping fun at the lake pavilion and avoid the groundsman. You need a boat for fishing, as either reed beds or bathing spots line the shore. Next time I will go to the Schaalsee Camp. There is nature camping there that deserves the name. The staff are very friendly and electronic music is forbidden there. But if you're looking for a ballerina and an unfriendly groundsman, the Salemer See nature campsite is the place to be...Traduzido automaticamente.
- Alexandra S.June 2019PositivosThe playground is beautiful.NegativosUnattractive for day guests, pitches ABC without access or view of the lake, no shopping facilities, no toilet paperGreat location, unfortunately not for all day guestsWe were searching with two families over Whitsun and stumbled across the campsite's beautiful website. So we went there. The journey from Hamburg went quickly, the reception was friendly and well staffed. Then we were told that Camping am See was fully booked and only pitches A-C were free. These are... for day guests. And the following description: The site stretches for several hundred meters along the lake, but there are only permanent campers. There is a very small area by the lake where a few tents and smaller caravans and buses can be parked. There is also a small bathing bay. By small, I mean small. And a beach volleyball court. It's nice to stand there, no question. But only there. Pitches A, B and C are further up behind the permanent campsites and you can't see the lake at all. They are simply mown meadows that you can stand on. No hedges, trees etc., no view of the lake. You have to walk at least 5-10 minutes to get there and it's really difficult with a canoe, as a lady and her husband told me, who we assumed would also have a view of the lake for day visitors. The campsites have relatively modern sanitary blocks, without toilet paper and unfortunately only sparsely cleaned. Unfortunately, the water temperature cannot be regulated. Apart from a farm store, which is a 10-minute walk away, there are no shopping facilities on site. The farm store does not belong to the campsite and at least offers bread rolls. You have to go to Ratzeburg or Zarrentin to do your shopping. Good if you have a car with you. For campers or cyclists ... On the campsite you can order normal bread rolls in advance in the snack bar down by the lake. There are normal snack things, unfortunately totally loveless and with seating where you don't really want to eat. The site is designed for permanent campers and not for day guests. We felt completely excluded and deceived, as a meadow without a view of anything more than a hedge and other campers has nothing to do with nature camping for me. The bathing area is so small that I wonder how it will work when it's really warm and the 1000 permanent campers all want to go into the lake...Traduzido automaticamente.

- Andrea P.April 2018PositivosIntegrated in the beautiful nature!NegativosNoneBeautiful campsite on a natural lakeThe campsite is in a very nice location. The pitches on the A/C meadow are very good. The associated wash houses are newly renovated and clean. The wash house by the lake could do with renovation. The pitches by the lake are large and partly separated by hedges. But there are also beautiful terraced... pitches, which are very popular! A new building was completed this year, with a new reception and an indoor playground. We like staying there because it's so nice and uncomplicated. One drawback is that there is no store. But that's not a problem for me, as I can shop in Ratzeburg or nearby on the way there.Traduzido automaticamente.

- Jessica H.August 2017Great natural campsite to relaxWe were there for the weekend and were right next to the playground because of our toddlers. The staff are friendly and the other campers are nice too. The sanitary facilities at the a pitches are modern and were always clean. Unfortunately, the campsite itself does not offer a bread roll service but... you can get them at the farm store about 1 km away In 10 minutes you are in ratzeburg where there are plenty of shops All in all it is a nice campsite to relaxTraduzido automaticamente.

- Carsten B.May 2017PositivosSpacious pitch, good bathing facilities, TOP sanitary facilitiesNegativosNo gastronomy, only the farm store for shopping (better fill the fridge before arrival).Beautiful location in the middle of natureA surprisingly large campsite dominated by permanent campers (but not annoying). I opted for a pitch on the large meadow, as the view near the bathing area is beautiful - but you also have to reckon with increased noise. For peace and quiet, I like to walk a few steps to the numerous small bathing spots... by the lake. I was surprised that there is no sandwich store on such a large campsite and only a small restaurant. You have to walk a quarter of an hour to a farm store for breakfast rolls - well, you've worked off the calories straight away. Otherwise a nice place with modern and well-kept sanitary facilities, free W-LAN (at the reception) and a beautiful environment, interesting for hikersTraduzido automaticamente.
