We had a great time, the campground is close to the center, the cable car and the start of remarkable walks. You can breathe "air of nature!" The lady who runs the campground is very kind. Car must be parked in the parking lot outside the locker - unnecessary, as the place is quite empty. (only useful when overcrowded!). Suitable for hikers and climbers. Quite cool even in June due to the altitude. Price overpriced (no discounts) in June 2016 for 2 people 22€Tradus automat.
- Gerald R.August 2014PlusuriLocationMinusuriSanitary facilities, condition of the buildings, parking situation for campers with camper vans and tents.Good location, catastrophic infrastructure on the CP.Coming from Rome, we spent the night at the CP Funivia del Gran Sasso ( 42°25'31.28''N , 13°31'34.01''E , last exit before the tunnel entrance). The CP is ideal for excursions to Campo Imperatore. You can drive there by car, it is a few kilometers and serpentines. Or you can take the cable car (above... the campsite) to the Hotel Campo Imperatore. There are also several hotels and restaurants above the campsite. At the campsite, the reception, the supposed restaurant/snack bar and the sanitary facilities are in the same state as they were in Romania over 30 years ago. If you come with a tent or camper van, you have to park your car in a separate parking lot at the entrance to the campsite. It was quite empty despite the high season. Everyone was probably on the coast.Tradus automat.
