The Meuschke familyTradus automat. - Heiko M.June 2024PlusuriSuper location, beautiful nature, very nicely laid out and natural pitches, super friendly and competent operators, clean sanitary facilities and new showers, small store and cozy restaurant on the site, many leisure activities such as swimming, water sports, cycling, hiking, etc.MinusuriNoneVery nice campsite that leaves nothing to be desiredWe have been coming here again and again for many years. The operators are super nice, understand what service means and put their heart and soul into it. The Hohenwartetal dam is a scenic dream, the high mountains on the banks are slightly reminiscent of the Norwegian fjords. There is a wide range of... water sports on offer, but hiking and mountain biking are also interesting. I have been camping for many years, but nowhere else can I stand right on the shore, moor my motorboat on the beach and enjoy nature as relaxed as here.
My recommendation is the low season, as it can be quite crowded in the high season due to its popularity.Tradus automat. - Andree T.September 2023PlusuriVery friendly operators and quiet, top location on the waterfrontMinusuriThere were none for us.We were very satisfiedVery friendly staff, the place and the sanitary facilities in very clean condition. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the right place for you and we would like to thank the Fröhlich family once again.Tradus automat.

- Hummel H.July 2023PlusuriEverything is very good, this is how camping should be.MinusuriNothing negative.Wonderful stayWe liked it very much. friendliness and cleanliness are very important here. 100% recommendation.Tradus automat.
- Rolf K.August 2021PlusuriGreat location on the water, surrounded by nature. Very nice campsite operators and sufficiently good facilities. The allocated pitches are really big enough.MinusuriThe storage facilities in the showers are too small for me. There is only one hook behind a short splashback. Personally, I also missed the individual wash cubicles. However, the new extension currently under construction gives hope in this respect.A very pleasant place in beautiful natural surroundingsThe owner couple are very friendly and helpful. We asked for a flat pitch for our folding caravan when we booked and that was a good thing. The pitches by the lake are level, but it can be difficult to find a level pitch on the upper meadow.
The sanitary facilities were always spotlessly clean. The store... on site has the essentials, the selection of bread rolls is small but the quality is very good. The restaurant on site can also be recommended without reservation.
The location on the "Thuringian Sea" is just great. Whether hiking or canoeing, we got our money's worth and this was definitely not the last time we stayed here.Tradus automat. - Daniela W.September 2019Plusuri- Dogs only allowed to a very limited extent - absolute peace and quiet - nice operators - everything clean and well-kept - located directly on the waterMinusuriNot for usOur favorite campsite in summer with the guarantee of relaxationWe were visiting CP Linkenmühle as a family for the second time these days and were immediately recognized by the boss (after almost 5 months). We enjoyed very relaxed, quiet days in the "nowhere", directly at the Hohenwarte reservoir. The biggest advantage for us was the ban on dogs in the lower area... on the banks of the Saale. Very nice, terraced pitches by the water with an adjacent children's playground. Very large and shallow beach at low tide. We like to go swimming, kayaking, use our SUP or go for a short hike with the children. Be sure to try the ice cream sundaes at the Linkenmühle above the ferry pier :-) (2km through the forest). The food there is also very tasty, we never ate at the campsite. However, pre-ordered rolls were very tasty. A "bulk purchase" in advance is recommended for longer stays. Sanitary facilities and especially the washing-up area (covered outdoors, decorated with flower boxes) very clean. Operator always very helpful and eager to help (last time a camper's motorhome got stuck on a slope and was unceremoniously freed by the boss himself with a multicar). We would love to come back - big praise to the Fröhlich family!Tradus automat.
- Johannes P.August 2019PlusuriVery quiet in a beautiful natural setting. A great place for water sports enthusiasts and hikers.MinusuriSomewhat undersized and outdated sanitary facilities (but clean!).Good place in beautiful natureWe stayed here for four summer nights and felt very comfortable. The friendly operators went to great lengths to fulfill all our wishes. On the second day, we could have moved from a spot on the meadow directly to the banks of the Saale. We decided against this because we really liked our first pitch.... The site is clean, the meadow is not parceled out, but there was still enough space even in high season. The sanitary facilities are a little undersized and dated, but clean. Washing cubicles would be very desirable. The shower tokens are no longer really up to date, even if the shower runs for a long time. Very positive is the small landing next to the site, where you can order breakfast rolls in advance and the quite good restaurant, which could only offer limited opening hours due to staff problems. The approach with the caravan can be quite "tricky" on the last few kilometers, as the access road is very narrow. But that's not the fault of the operators.Tradus automat.
- Barbara N.August 2019PlusuriQuiet, friendly staff, close to the water, everything cleanMinusuriNoneSuper campsiteWe decided to stay for one night at short notice. It was no problem. We were welcomed just as friendly as other campers. The pitch was great. Not far to the water, to the sanitary facilities, but also not far to the kiosk/restaurant. We will definitely come here again.Tradus automat.
- Clemens D.July 2019Welcome young familyVery nice place, even the many permanent campers are nice. Very clean sanitary facilities and a nice playground right by the water. We had a pitch by the lake, the beautifully flat beach was perfect for our child.Tradus automat.
- Mission C.June 2019Plusuri-Very well-kept site -Pitches directly on the water -friendly owners -Restaurant, boat rental, store -very quietMinusuriNoneFeel-good campsiteWe felt very comfortable here.there are pitches directly on the water or further up on the very well-kept meadow with a view of the lake.you really can't hear anything at night.you can definitely get some real peace and quiet here.the sanitary facilities are clean, modern and well maintained.the washing-up... area is lovingly laid out.We received a very friendly welcome and you can tell that the owners here are very passionate about their work. there is also a restaurant on site, which we did not try, as well as a boat rental and a small grocery store with some local products. we will definitely be back and can really recommend this place.Tradus automat.

- Nancy F.October 2018In the middle of the forestBeautifully situated campsite in the middle of the forest, directly on the Hohenwarte reservoir. We were here as guests.Tradus automat.
- Henning T.September 2018PlusuriFantastic surroundings Very friendly operators Away from the hustle and bustle well-kept and originalMinusuri*/*Original camping in a great landscapeThis campsite is secluded at the end of a cul-de-sac in the middle of the forest. The shallow entrance to the dammed Saale is ideal for swimming and is also suitable for children. The site is quiet, clean and well-kept, and the operators are very friendly and always ready to help. While bathing and relaxing,... you can look out over the surrounding wooded slopes of the Saale and you almost feel like you're in Sweden or Canada. The landscape is fantastic. At night you can experience an impressive starry sky, as there is hardly any light pollution. If you want asphalted pitches, precisely trimmed hedges and proximity to a town, you should go to another site, but if you are looking for simple camping in remote and beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you. The site is ideal for relaxing, hiking, swimming or simply unwinding. The facilities fall somewhat short of the larger 5-star campsites, but without leaving any real gaps for campers. Everything you need is available, the simple sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained, the store offers the essentials and the restaurant can definitely be recommended with its simple and inexpensive dishes. The somewhat expensive but very fast W-LAN is worth mentioning. What makes the campsite particularly suitable for families with small children is the complete absence of dogs on the lower part of the campsite on the beach and near the playground. In addition to the hosts, I would also like to thank the nice permanent camper who took our son for a short ride on his scooter.Tradus automat.
- Uwe W.August 2018PlusuriTop price-performance ratio. Mill ferry in the neighborhood. Top landscapeMinusuriSecluded in a rural setting.Beautiful gem, quiet, friendly, with beautiful surroundingsWas there in August on a pitch by the lake. small attractive beach. Children's playground in the immediate vicinity of the reservoir. Attraction "only car ferry on reservoir in the neighborhood". Catering and eating out possible on site. Extremely nice campsite operators. Sanitary facilities are modernized... and ok (showers with brands). But absolutely clean. Felt very well looked after for 3 nights. Worth seeing in the wider area Hydropower Museum, Altvaterturm, mill ferry, ....Tradus automat.
- Dörthe R.August 2018Plusuriquiet, directly on the waterMinusuriSanitary not clean Restaurant and camping shop operators very unfriendly to guestsWe didn't like it ...We chose the campsite as a transit site. It is located about 25 km from the highway in a "dead end" in front of Lake Hohenwarten ... Access is via a narrow road controlled by traffic lights down to the site and lake. When we arrived, we were given a set of camping rules with 25 points to be observed... ... The welcome was friendly, if a little reserved and reserved. A shower coin for 4 minutes cost 1 euro, electricity was charged by meter. The site is located on the Hohenwartner reservoir, has a small boat mooring, a restaurant and a small market (special opening hours). The small supermarket is worth mentioning because it reflects the past. It is furnished as it was in GDR times. My husband, who comes from the GDR, took a leap back in time. When we were there (summer vacation), there were lots of grandparents with their grandchildren. We were allocated a pitch on the meadow in the upper part of the campsite, the pitches by the water below were all occupied. The boss himself showed us the site, connected the electricity and told us exactly where and how to park the caravan. We then stood almost in a "circle" with the other campers and were quite "eyed" by those who had been there for a long time. Showering is done with the above-mentioned shower tokens. The showers and toilets were unfortunately quite dirty and "hairy". The water in my shower didn't drain and I was literally standing in water. I gave my second shower coin to the neighbors, I was happy to do without it. It was a few steps downhill to the lake - the "beach" is a narrow stretch of shore with sharp stones and difficult to walk on without bathing shoes. However, the water is wonderfully clean and refreshing. We wanted to make a reservation at the restaurant in the afternoon. We were told that there was only one table left at five o'clock. We arrived at five and there was a sign at our table saying "reserved from 7pm". "Oh", I said, "then we have two hours to eat in peace". The boss heard this and immediately replied in the broadest Thuringian dialect "No, no, only until half past six - at most - because then I still have to clear up!" ... (kicked out even before you arrived, nice!) ... The kitchen was nothing special either... Quite greasy and unimaginative. A man came, sat down at the next table with his toddler, got a high chair for his child and, after the manager pointed out that he hadn't made a reservation, was immediately and unkindly asked to leave. He was so angry about the boss's behavior that he refused to accept our invitation to join us (we had until 6.30 pm and two seats left ;-) ). We then - oh God - forgot to order the bread rolls for the next morning and then came the rude awakening: So we dutifully joined the queue at the little camping store, which had already formed 10 minutes before it opened. When our turn came and we chose our 5 rolls from the bakery baskets set up, the owner harrsch asked if we had ordered. Shocked, we quickly said that we had arrived so late, so we hadn't ordered ... The owner then shouted at us in front of everyone "No, no, no, that's not how it works. Excuses like that are not accepted here. We were in the restaurant until 11pm, you would have had enough time to order bread rolls. Just no lazy excuses!" ... And only because I was hungry did I accept the 5 rolls that were graciously given to us, I have never experienced such unfriendliness. At check-out, the electricity was read and billed again by the site manager. However, I don't know why we had to pay 2kwH of electricity when only our fridge was on ... We would have liked to take the ferry across the lake to the road, but the campsite manager said that wasn't possible. We didn't want to try it with the caravan either, because we didn't know whether it was possible to turn around at the ferry. So we were at the traffic lights for the exit right on time at 09:00 and were looking forward to getting back to the highway quickly.Tradus automat.Răspuns de la Camping Linkenmühle August 19, 2018Dear Ms. Rehm-Garbe,
Thank you for taking the time to write a detailed review. We regret that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We run the campsite as a family business and try to make our guests' vacation as pleasant as possible with tips and suggestions. One of our services is to accompany our... camping guests to the pitch, to help with maneuvering if necessary and to connect to the energy column, as we charge according to consumption. As the camping meadow is not parceled out, we make recommendations for the alignment of caravans/mobile homes according to our experience and ensure that no driveways are obstructed.
Our cleaning staff go to great lengths to ensure clean sanitary facilities. We are fortunate to have good staff who clean during the night so that our guests find clean sanitary facilities in the morning. In the high season we clean 3 times a day.
When asked if you could take the ferry, my husband advised against it, explaining that a caravan is too big. With the best will in the world, we don't understand how a well-intentioned piece of advice can be presented in such a negative light. However, we respect your criticism, but remain true to our philosophy, because many positive previous reviews here or on Google confirm that we don't do such a bad job after all.
We wish you all the best!

- Andreas W.August 2017PlusuriPeace and quiet, friendliness, good value for money, cleanliness.MinusuriCoin-operated showersSpontaneous weekend vacation at Camping LinkenmühleAs the last weekend in August 2017 was set to be another glorious midsummer day, we spontaneously decided to go on a weekend trip with our California and inflatable kayaks. A quick call to the Linkenmühle campsite was all it took and we had decided on our destination. The contact on the phone was extremely... friendly, which was a good start. Registration was quick, friendly and smooth. We were allocated a space in the upper area, which was slightly sloping. This time we needed the wheel chocks. There was a pleasant and quiet atmosphere on the pitch and the people on the campsite were friendly. The sanitary facilities were in excellent and clean condition. My only criticism was of course the coin-operated showers. In my opinion, these are not up to date. We had a wonderful time paddling on the Hohenwarte dam and the site was also ideal for swimming. The restaurant opposite the reception offers solid home cooking at a fair price. One reason to visit the site again would be to try out the pitches down on the banks of the dam, which made an interesting impression. We would be happy to come back again.Tradus automat.
- Dieter H.July 2017Plusuri- very friendly staff - mostly very quiet - Beach also suitable for smaller children - clean sanitary facilitiesMinusuri- short but very steep "climb" from the pitches by the lake to the sanitary facilities - lower part of the facility very poorly lit at nightWe would go againWe (couple) were there for 8 nights in July 2017, if you are looking for peace and quiet and don't need a restaurant late at night, this is the right place, places on the lake are close to the playground and shore, during the day especially in good weather and on weekends it can be louder. Well-kept... complex, very good value for money. There is hardly anything negative to report. The waste disposal station is not centrally located. Lots of garbage bins directly on the main path make for a corresponding stench in the area. But you can live with that. What annoyed us the most was that we were greeted in the restaurant at 19:02 on a Sunday evening with the words "You can still drink, but not eat" (the kitchen closes at 19:00 on Sundays). Nevertheless, we can only recommend the place.Tradus automat.
- Torsten K.May 2017PlusuriManageable space, close to the water, natureMinusuriQuite fully booked ;-)Beautiful short vacation at the Thuringian SeaDespite the Ascension weekend, we still managed to get a pitch for the motorhome without booking in advance and were even able to "move into" a pitch by the water on the second day. Very clean reservoir water invited us to swim in summer temperatures, short trip to Rains Castle, hiking etc. - A complete... success. The friendliness and competence of the host family also contributed to this. This place is highly recommended if you are looking for some peace and nature. We would love to come back.
