- Philipp P.August 2011A French-style municipal campsite that couldn't be more typical. About 15 kilometers off the A11 freeway and therefore interesting for travelers heading towards Brittany (or the other way around, coming from there). The site scores points with free access to the small outdoor pool, which is also run... by the town, and free WiFi access in the reception area. The sanitary facilities are very basic and kept in a seventies style, but are reasonably clean. There is still plenty of air between the walls of the building and the tin roof, so the fresh morning breeze in the shower before continuing your journey really wakes you up. But that's the charm of the Municipal Square in general. You can pre-order bread and croissants here and fish from boredom on the Sarthe, which flows right past - or enjoy one to ten beers sitting there as a traveler passing through. There is no infrastructure apart from two petrol stations, which have no staff and only work with EC/credit cards. But as a migratory bird, you have everything with you. The only thing that can get on your nerves are the exclusively French residents of the chalets, who are a bit redneck, drink too much beer and shout at their children. But you can overlook this for one night. There are only a few fellow travelers, even in the high season, because the place is probably not too well known. Nevertheless, I would go there again, because for fresh bread in the morning, a quiet pitch, WiFi, hot showers, electricity and a swimming pool after a long, stressful drive, 14 euros is a ridiculous price and at the same time a compelling argument. As the site is not signposted at all and does not have a navigable address, here's how to get there: take the directions to Malicorne sur Sarthe, and when you come off the highway or national road and finally enter the town, you will find a large bridge on the left that crosses the Sarthe. There you turn left, cross the bridge and head out of town. After about 100 meters, turn right into the entrance to the campsite (at this junction is the only [!] sign in the entire village pointing to a campsite). In my memory, the site advertises with three stars, which is more than "just average" as a municipal site - and it earns this with the performance and honest work of the people who work there. I would love to come back here!Tradus automat.
