My wife and I had booked the ferry to the island of Elba for September 1, 2021 and were looking for a campsite near the ferry port on August 30, as our crossing was due to start at 08:15 and we were supposed to be there half an hour earlier.
As reported, we found that the campsite was far too expensive... for its services (in our opinion), so we stayed just one night instead of two.
We spent the night of 31.08./ 01.09. on a secure pitch right by the harbor. Cost: 15 €. A very large pitch that is sure to have a space available even in high season.
We then took our bikes (it's a bit far to walk, isn't it, bus?) to the old town of Pimobino in the evening, a detour that should definitely be planned.

Sanitary facilities
...not quite up to date, price-performance ratio?
Campsite without special features. Sanitary facilities from the 70s. Only 5 toilet bowls, but without toilet seat otherwise standing toilets. Showers with thermostat without adjustment options. Water temperature limited upwards, downwards what the solar thermal energy supplies. Dishwashing stations with... cold water only! Small store on site with everyday items. Restaurant with wood-fired pizza oven and bar by the pool. Free shuttle (minibus) to the beach. Why the Italians here charge €70 for a tent pitch incl. 4 people is incomprehensible. Not for sale in Germany, no sea nearby helps either. We won't be back.
