- Susi N.October 2023PlusuriCompletely quiet and idyllic location directly on the Altmühl and yet with first-class connections to the old town of PappenheimMinusuriNone of relevance.Camping without the frills. Original and honest. A place of peace and quietA wonderfully natural, peaceful, quiet and tranquil spot right on the Altmühl river below Pappenheim Castle. Ideal for slowing down and recharging your batteries. Especially for active campers who want to relax after a (bike) hike or canoe tour. The castle, which is steeped in history, and the pretty... old town with all kinds of stores and restaurants are just a few minutes away on foot or by bike.
We were passing through here in the fall but will be back in the summer for a longer vacation. The outdoor pool is tempting.
A final word about the sanitary facilities: there are plenty of them, they are clean, and the showers provide plenty of hot or cold water for as long as you want. If that's not enough, you should book somewhere else. I wish everyone else that nothing will be renovated here any time soon, because then we will be spared from fancy-pants campers.Tradus automat. - Birgit V.June 2022PlusuriBeautiful, peaceful nature. Ideal for relaxing.MinusuriFew restaurantsCampingBeautiful place in the middle of nature. Ideally located directly on the Altmühl, perfect for boat trips. Also located directly on the cycle path. Only a few minutes' walk to the market square with market every Friday. Pure relaxation. With great air in the climatic health resort. Nice neighbors on the square.Tradus automat.
- Dieter L.October 2021PlusuriLocationMinusuriNo disadvantages for a "natural campsite"Simply knitted CPQuietly located CP with friendly groundsman directly on the Altmühl. We stayed there for one night with the caravan. Apart from the outdated but always clean sanitary facilities, there was nothing to complain about.Tradus automat.
- Walter C.September 2021PlusuriLandscape and surroundings Plenty of spaceMinusuriOld sanitary facilities poor equipmentOverall nice stayA beautifully situated campsite directly on the Altmühl. However, the Altmühl carries no water directly here because it is diverted - probably to generate electricity. The site is very green with tall grass; it is probably rarely mowed.
There are no parceled-out pitches. Electricity connections available,... but possibly not sufficient when the site is full. We were there in September, so there was no problem. There are no other connections, but there are several water and gray water points spread across the site. In some places there is hardly any satellite reception due to tall trees. It is a "nature campsite", which is often cited by operators - as here - as justification for not having such good facilities.
On the other hand, the price is reasonable at €18.50 for a caravan, car, 2 people, flat-rate electricity and showers included.
The sanitary facilities are very old, I estimate
1960s or 1970s. However, they are kept clean, work well and are large enough. They are not heated and are very cold even in September - probably due to the lack of sunlight under the trees.
No bread roll service in September, although the pitch was still more than half full. The bakery in the village is about 1 km away.
The site is very quiet unless - as was the case every day during our stay - several people from the village meet at the reception in the afternoon and into the evening, drinking and chatting quite loudly.Tradus automat. - reinhold g.August 2021PlusuriLocation,Price,SizeMinusurinoneNATURE CAMPING PAPPENHEIMWe stayed 3 days at the place which we liked very much if there should be a small minus point it was the sanitary facilities which are already getting old but very clean and functional.
The operator was very friendly and the place was cheap
With a dog you have very good opportunities to go for a walk
We will be back!Tradus automat. - Renate G.July 2021PlusuriWithin walking distance of Pappenheim quiet at night Located directly on cycle pathsMinusuriSanitary facilities somewhat outdated Sanitary facilities only accessible via stairs Barrier closes at 21.00 hrsQuite simple campsite close to the citySimple and inexpensive campsite from which you can easily explore Pappenheim and parts of the Altmühtal valley.
Pappenheim itself can be reached in a few minutes on foot or by bike, good shopping facilities are available.
There is nothing for children apart from a sandpit.
Well suited for canoeists.Tradus automat. - Paula H.July 2019PlusuriLocation Peace and quietSpontaneous nightBeautiful location right at the foot of the castle. Well suited for a spontaneous visit for one night.Tradus automat.
- Michael S.April 2019PlusuriPeace, peace, peace. Clearly laid out, location.MinusuriLack of restaurants and stores on the square, any lack of hustle and bustle. Anyone can see this as a disadvantage, but not us!Nice and quiet nature campsiteEaster Monday discovered the place on a trip and then spontaneously picked up the caravan (75 km) and spent 4 wonderful quiet days. The place is very quiet directly on the Altmühl. Friendly operator, bread roll service and drinks bar, that's all we need. Shopping facilities within walking distance in the village and in a few km in Treuchtlingen. Sanitary simple but fully ok and is very clean.Tradus automat.
- Thomas L.June 2018PlusuriVery clean and quiet. Dog friendly.Minusurinothing worth mentioning.Quiet, manageable campsiteVery original camping without unnecessary frills. Sanitary facilities, like the rest of the site, super clean. The village, where you can get everything you need for your daily needs, is just a few minutes' walk away. A good place for internet fasting - no reception at all on the pitches. The campsite... is right on the cycle path and many hiking trails are within easy walking distance. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you.Tradus automat.
- Achill C.July 2017Plusurisee above.MinusuriNone for us.Beautiful, quiet placeLarge, well-kept, unparceled meadow on the riverbank, electricity and water within reach, old trees, beautiful view of the castle and valley, the village with shopping facilities can be reached on foot in 5 minutes, by bike in 2 minutes. The sanitary facilities are old but very clean, functional and... work reliably. If you're looking for luxury and a night out, you should go somewhere else, but if you're looking for a relaxing camping vacation, this is the place for you. We wanted to stay for 3 days, but stayed for 1 week. And we would love to come back!Tradus automat.
- Philipp S.June 2017PlusuriQuiet at night, plenty of space during the day and a very generous groundsman.MinusuriThe murky waters of the Altmühl. But there is an outdoor pool in Pappenheim for swimming.A campsite that offers (almost) everything campers need!It is only a few minutes' walk to the town center, but hardly anyone will experience such quiet days and nights on any other pitch, apart from the (discreet) frog concert. The sanitary installations are not new, but - more importantly - they are clean and work. The water comes under pressure, really... hot or cold, just as you wish. And anything you don't want to get wet in the shower stays dry. Whether it's a tent or a camper van, you're always standing on dense grass. The breakfast rolls, delivered by the baker, are available every day. There is a large sandpit for the little ones and cycle paths, canoes and climbing rocks for the older ones. And all at very moderate prices. What more could you want?Tradus automat.
- gerd l.July 2016Plusurithe location of the squareMinusurithe sani buildingIdyllIdyllic it is already in pappenheim...small, nice village with the typical southern German charm...cycle path connection perfect, the altmühl for paddling with exit at the place the place is excellent.open.no narrow. sani building, well.there is better!!! otherwise everything is right, even the price for the night....Tradus automat.
- Paul O.May 2016PlusuriPeace and quiet, good starting point for activitiesMinusuriSanitary stalactite caveGood leisure facilities - interesting sanitary facilities!!!!!Very good starting point for hikes, bike tours and canoe trips. The extremely well-kept lawn and the peace and quiet make for a pleasant stay. The sanitary facilities are always clean and are more reminiscent of a stalactite cave - both the lack of heating and the extreme permanent humidity! The site warden doesn't like email inquiries like we did. Nice reception ;-)Tradus automat.
- Vera S.July 2015Plusuriif there are no noisy neighbors or groups, QUIET QUIET QUIETMinusuriI can't think of anything else!!!One of the most beautiful campsites far and wideOne of the most romantic campsites I know! And I am often on the road by bike! You have to find something like that first! Especially the tent place with seating is awesome!!! I really hope that the place will stay like it is for a few more years! And to all those who complain about the sanitary facilities (which I don't understand) do you go on vacation because of the toilets? I come because of the peace and nature!!!Tradus automat.
- Christian L.September 2014PlusuriQuiet location next to the city within walking distanceMinusuriSanitary facilities from the last millenniumClean but oldNice location, but very dated. The sanitary facilities are clean but unheated showers, no toilet seats and exude the charm of a 1950s elementary school. You can't just write Naturcamping and think it's good. Nice location next to the town, you can easily go to the bakery or eat out. Altmühl cycle path goes right past the site, for children just a measly sandpit, also 50s style. Very quiet except for the church clock, friendliness is still okayTradus automat.
- Anita G.September 2014PlusuriVery nice place with super nice grass and trees for shade The proximity to the town and the castleMinusuriThe old, damp sanitary building The smelly pile of garbage next to it Too few places to wash the dishes No WLanPerfect location.......butThe location and the place are perfect. Large pitches on a very nice meadow. There are also shady spots. Very good with the dog. The color of the streams nearby was not very inviting. So better not to let your dog into the water. The sanitary building is not very inviting. Old facilities and everything... very damp and smelly. The floor was cleaned at lunchtime and was still not dry by the evening. The toilet paper was also damp. There are 3!!! Basins to wash the dishes. One of which only has cold water. Next to the sanitary building is the waste container and the green waste. It stank terribly. Close your nose and go!Tradus automat.
- Алексей С.August 2014PlusuriGreat placeA good oneWe were in August 2014 very much liked it. Great surroundings, castle, old town, river. The campsite is clean, the staff is friendly. It is desirable to have a bicycle, there is somewhere to go, there is something to see. Quiet in the evening. Inexpensive, a day 15 eurosTradus automat.
- Christian B.August 2014PlusuriNear the centerMinusuriIn urgent need of renovationVery child-unfriendly and ancient sanitary facilitiesAnything but recommendable. Directly at the sanitary facilities it smelled very penetrating and cobwebs everywhere !!! Because children were often forbidden to play ball games by the groundsman. For children no play possibility except near the groundskeeper an ancient sandbox and an old swingTradus automat.
- nka S.May 2014Plusuri- Very clean - Great location - Washing machine (not for permanent campers) - Close to townMinusuri- Showers only partially heated - No dryer - No baby changing stationA very nice, simple, child-friendly campsite. Very clean! Close to the idyllic village of Pappenheim and below the castle. Very suitable for families and active vacationers.Tradus automat.
