- Lars M.August 2019PlusuriThe seclusion of the campsite in the middle of nature just a stone's throw from the sea!MinusuriThere are none! If you choose this campsite, you know what you're getting into!Back to the beginningsIf you love camping without all the frills, the seclusion, the sea air and the sea, this is the place for you!Tradus automat.
- Kai N.August 2019PlusuriThe nature, the peace, the vastness, the people. The sun, the wind, the rain. The campsite kiosk. The sunsets on the sheet pile wall.MinusuriCold showers and warm toilet seats in high season. You can be lucky with the weather - but you don't have to be.Basic ParadiseA refuge for nature lovers and people who want to slow down on vacation. For everyone else: there is no WiFi here; no cars, no bike hire, no communal room with a TV - not even pitches with electricity! And sometimes tents fly around. You have to like it - I do.Tradus automat.
- Anke S.June 2019PlusuriLiving in and with natureMinusuriWhen the place is full, you have to queue here and there. How cozy and peaceful, simply the most beautiful placeThe most beautiful campsite ever. The helpfulness of Heiner and Markus is unique. Whether it's for a nice chat or in an emergency, they always have an ear and helping hands. A great team.Tradus automat.
- Alexander D.July 2018PlusuriClose to the beach. Although the island's "main beach" is a bit of a walk. The kiosk and the friendly staff. The location on the dunes.MinusuriI didn't notice anything negative. Anyone who is annoyed by midges, wind or rain has not understood how camping works. Although we didn't have any midges. No rain either. And hardly any wind. In the hot summer of 2018.Great place close to natureThe location on the dunes is hard to beat. A bit of a wilderness camping feeling.
The showers teach you to appreciate hot water. Perhaps not a bad thing in our comfort zone society. Cold showers are good for the circulation! But the showers are not cold at all!
The kiosk offers everything and more for the discerning self-caterer. Great!
And of course it's great that there are no cars next to the tents!Tradus automat. - Nele S.July 2018PlusuriNo cars, connection to other guests, compact.MinusuriToilet block is cleaned twice a day but dirty due to high usage and unclean guests.Best campsiteI've been coming to the campsite for years and haven't found a better one. The people are all very nice, it's a paradise for children and it's nice to meet everyone again every year.Tradus automat.
- Martina D.July 2018PlusuriSeclusion and tranquillity, no traffic, very informal and relaxed atmosphere, even smaller children can move around freelyMinusuripartly cold water in the showers (but you get used to it) no shadeDunes and beach - pure relaxationIf you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place for you. Nature and simplicity characterize this campsite.Tradus automat.
- Jürgen T.July 2018PlusuriProximity to the beachMinusuriInsufficient and poor sanitary facilities.Major logistical challengePlace is overcrowded, very remote, very close to the sea. No bike rental.Tradus automat.
- Jochen R.July 2016PlusuriPeace, no parceling, natureMinusurilong way to the supermarket & guarded beach, pests, sometimes long way to the sanitary facilities, water only lukewarm in high seasonFor fans of nature and sweet idlenessBeautiful campsite between dunes and salt marshes, wonderfully quiet without cars and electricity at the pitches. Small playground, short walk to the water (a little more at low tide ;-)), clean sanitary facilities (in high season sometimes with waiting times and lukewarm water), nice kiosk (partly organic... and therefore a bit expensive), no parcelling (free choice of pitches, several tents together possible), long way to the village (if you are good on foot 30 min, 15 minutes more to the supervised beach, in the afternoon you can use the horse-drawn streetcar), some pests (horseflies during the day, mosquitoes in the evening/night).Tradus automat.
- Marcus W.July 2015PlusuriThe location in the dunes. The kiosk has almost everything! Whether food, even partly in Demeter quality, string or cable ties.MinusuriTo get to the sports facilities on the main beach, you first have to walk a few kilometers. Very time-consuming without a bike.Relaxation and adventureWe spent ten days at the campsite with our children (aged 11 and 16). At first we were unlucky with the weather and the choice of our tent, which was not storm-proof. The location of the campsite and the rustic kiosk with its Nordic-friendly operator Lars were great.Tradus automat.
- Christine O.July 2014PlusuriFree choice of tent pitch...fresh bread rolls, nice salesman Lars, the wind, the sea, the sunsets.Minusuri0Spiekeroog, the island of my dreamsHello, this year I was for the first time on this wonderful, quiet, relaxing island, inviting for hiking and swimming and cycling, I liked it so much that I will come back soon, but with a more stable tent than the little blue one, many greetings from Essen, I went to the coast by bike, ChristineTradus automat.
- Stefan U.August 2013Plusuri- Absolute peace and quiet - Own large sandy beach in the immediate vicinity - Free choice of pitches, no pitch grid - Children's playground, kioskMinusuri- No shady spots - It can get very windy at night - If you don't mind: no cars, hardly any bicycles, no dogs!Peace and relaxation, very close to nature, pure relaxationAnyone looking for real relaxation will find it here. In the middle of nature, without any noise from civilization, you will quickly find peace and quiet here. The only "disturbances" are a few pheasants, seagulls and rabbits that come right next to the tent without being shy. The sanitary facilities... and the kiosk may not correspond to a 5-star categorization, but they have their charm, are clean and well-stocked, you don't miss anything and feel comfortable. Many families with children of all ages, but also individual artists, teachers, engineers, senior citizens, students, ... find relaxation and a pleasant and safe coexistence here. As the island is completely car-free, you should be one of those people who enjoy walking. And it's worth it, the vegetation is a feast for the eyes. The postal service is also fun, you can have letters and parcels sent directly to the campsite, which are then handed out once a day by the groundsman. I was there in 2013 and am looking for something similar for 2014 ... So far without success.Tradus automat.
- Alexia H.June 2013There is no better campsite in Germany for campers who love nature, peace and relaxation, and the campsite is not only very special and unique because it is located in the middle of the dunes, but also because of its special flair. Everything is provided for a pleasant stay: the sound of the wind and... the sea, magnificent sunrises and sunsets, a wide view of the dunes, a path full of green meadows, the buzzing of bees and the occasional butterfly fluttering past. Apart from the laughter of children in the playground as you approach, there is nothing to hear. A place for inspiration and complete relaxation. The showers and toilets are probably not particularly comfortable, but they are very clean. The food that Lars sells in his store is great. Especially the (wholemeal and muesli, but also other) bread rolls and the delicious coffee. It's served in the morning. As far as the bread rolls are concerned, however, there's the drawback that there simply aren't enough of them. That's why everyone queues up at 8.30 to get some. Important: Make sure you take a windproof tent and a windbreak for your stove (or simply a petrol stove).Tradus automat.
- Daniel S.August 2012August 2012: The campsite itself is beautiful and well located but the campsite warden is so unfriendly and disrespectful that it ruins everything. Early in the morning you are shouted out of the tent because the tent is supposedly not in the designated area. However, you have not been allocated one... beforehand but can only orientate yourself along an imaginary boundary that is "designated" by a few signs. When asked why the tent is not allowed to stand there because we have clearly not crossed the boundary, you get no explanation but just a "because I say so!" Incredibly unsympathetic guy who not only harasses you but also takes people for fools! Seems to be an unbalanced person who has to take out his frustrations on others. There is also an unbearable plague of mosquitoes in August. From 9 p.m. onwards, you can't get out of the tent without a ski suit. After one night we counted over 40 bites. However, the campsite warden didn't point this out/warn us in advance, which should have been a matter of course! Hot showers are hardly possible, from 8 p.m. there is only water just above freezing point. The highly praised kiosk is actually quite nice and has a good selection. For all those who want to go to Spiekeroog, however, there are certainly better alternatives than this campsite. The price is also too high compared to other campsites/youth hostels. Conclusion: Pack your mosquito repellent and put your tent where the campsite warden expressly allows it, otherwise you can take your tents down again straight away!Tradus automat.
- Hannes S.May 2010The campsite on the car-free island of Spiekeroog is - as the name suggests - only for tents and campers. The journey leads via Neuharlingersiel (where you check in your luggage, which is then brought to the campsite by ferry and carrier) by ferry to Spiekeroog. There you walk from the harbor about 3... km (according to Google Maps) to the campsite (it feels like less....). You usually have to register and pay at the spa administration in advance (for July/August it is best to do this in the fall of the previous year. The campsite is in the immediate vicinity of the beach, with a great view of the mudflats and the village. For nature lovers, for people who still want to use all their senses, there is nothing better. Special highlight: Lars' kiosk with high-quality products and a wide selection in a small space. Including fresh bread rolls and many organic products. Open continuously from 8.00 to 19.00 - longer if required.... I don't think you can camp more beautifully.Tradus automat.
