- Klaus-Peter A.июль 2023ПоложительныеGreat location on the water, central position on the island, good infrastructure in the villageОтрицательныеSanitary area not consistently clean and too smallLocation, location, location!Just like a property: location, location, location! The site is located directly on the water with a view of the village opposite. There are a number of pitches right on the water (pitches 11 to 19) behind which the terrain rises up and you also have a beautiful view from there.
There are several restaurants... and stores in the village, as well as a post office. At the entrance to the campsite, a food truck selling fish and chips is open 6 days a week in the evening.
As usual, it is advisable to book a gravel pitch as the meadows become boggy almost immediately when it rains.
The number of toilets and showers is relatively small, so you have to allow for waiting times. Unfortunately, this was also one of the few places we experienced in Scotland where the cleanliness left something to be desired, at least in part. Although this is largely the fault of the users, it was still unpleasant.
The site is relatively centrally located on the island. The most important sights (Old Man of Stoer, Quraing, Fairy Pools etc.) are within easy reach.
Recommendation: After visiting the Fairy Pools and/or the Talisker distillery, we recommend the 'Qyster Shed' directly behind the distillery. Follow the signs and drive up the very small and inconspicuous road. It's worth the walk and you'll find oysters as well as lobster and salmon.Перевод автоматический. - Susann S.сентябрь 2017ПоложительныеCozy manageable place, fantastic location, but not remoteОтрицательныеLong closing times for cleaning the wash house, complicated procedure.Brilliant viewManageable site with access that could be difficult for large camper vans. Pay attention to the signs (low gear!). The reception could have been friendlier. We came with a small caravan and "Mrs Complicated" had a huge problem finding a pitch for us on the largely empty site. At first she said there... was only one possible pitch, but in the end there were 8. So because of this cumbersome procedure, you should come in good time, better make a reservation. If she feels so overwhelmed at the end of September, I don't want to see her in high season. It was much easier to negotiate with "Mr. Less-complicated". The WiFi works moderately, the sanitary facilities are super clean and obviously newly renovated. However, they are completely closed for more than 2 hours every day at lunchtime, male and female at the same time. The wash house isn't that big, and you could lock the genders (at least the toilets separate from the showers) for a much shorter time. My request to repair the broken bulb in the light above the ladies' entrance, as otherwise it would be pitch black when I left the building in the evening, was turned down by Mrs. Complicated, who said it would have to be done by an electrician and it would take several days for him to come, but was fulfilled the next day by Mr. Less-complicated, who simply put in a new LED ... (???) Apart from that, the site is beautifully situated, just a few minutes' walk from the main village street, the view is fantastic from morning to night, and the "wadden sheep" that come to graze in the morning are also nice.Перевод автоматический.
- Highlander e.V. R.сентябрь 2017ОтрицательныеApparently, the new owner does not welcome groups, which was unthinkable in the old days under Scottish managementRejection of a group of 4 people for an invalid reasonHard to believe but it was true, I have known this campsite for 20 years now and knew both old owners personally well (unfortunately both deceased), as we always visited it with our club Highlander e.V.. This year under new management we were actually turned away as a group of 4 people for a trivial... reason that the ground was too soft for camping and the car was too soft and that after a long journey from Glencoe. Funnily enough, there were other tents with cars on site.Перевод автоматический.
- Matthias G.август 2016ПоложительныеTop location, very favorableVery nice locationThe campsite is located right at the end of Kinloch with a wonderful view of the water. Due to the terraced layout, many pitches have very nice views. However, the relatively unprotected location makes it very windy. Very good value for money: motorhome incl. electric + 2 adults and 2 children for GBP... 22 per night in high season - TOP!!!! Arrive early or make a reservation, otherwise the long journey is in vain. Sanitary facilities good, but above all very clean. Apart from the lawn, the site offers no play facilities for children and no direct shopping facilities. The village with stores and restaurants is only a 10-minute walk away. Dunvegan Castle about 5 minutes away by car is well worth a visit.Перевод автоматический.
- Heike P.май 2016Again and againIt was the perfect place for us - we had a pitch right by the water, very quiet and sheltered from the wind. This is how we wanted to experience Scotland. Sanitary facilities good and clean, equipment absolutely sufficient.Перевод автоматический.
- jaser b.сентябрь 2015Campsite in beautiful surroundingsThe campsite is located directly on Loch Dunvegan and is beautifully laid out. The sanitary facilities are of the usual Scottish standard, but well-kept and clean. The slightly terraced and spacious layout of the site offers a beautiful view of Loch Dunvegan from all pitches.Перевод автоматический.
- Volli d.июль 2015ПоложительныеLocation, friendly and cleanPerfectEverything you need, bakery a few minutes away (the oldest on Skye), .... rest see other descriptions, we thought the place was great ...Перевод автоматический.
- Manfred K.июнь 2015ПоложительныеScenic location and well-maintained.Well-kept, quiet place in the north-west of Skye near Dunvegan CastleVery nice pitches, some directly on the cliffs with a view of the attractive bay and mountains (reservation recommended). No catering on site. Recommended bakery in the village was closed, but there was a small supermarket a little further away, easily accessible by bike. Short, narrow access road, very steep at the end. Good sanitary facilities.Перевод автоматический.
- Andreas und Petra S.июнь 2015Directly on the shores of Loch DunveganThanks to the terraced terrain, most pitches have a sea view and, as an additional highlight, the sun sets at the exit of the bay. The largely flat pitches are mostly gravelled with adjoining lawns. There are also very good pitches for tents. The sanitary facilities appear to have been recently renovated.... At the beginning of June we paid 8 pounds per person plus 4 pounds for electricity. Dogs and showers are free of charge. The site is well frequented and the pitches with electricity are quickly taken. Come early or better still make a reservation.Перевод автоматический.
- Herbert G.май 2015ПоложительныеDunvegan Castle nearbyОтрицательныеNo catering on siteVery nice location right on the waterThis site is right on the water (but the access road is steep and narrow) and is very clean, including the sanitary facilities. There is no catering, but there is a hotel in Dunvegan where you can have breakfast and dinner. Dunvegan Castle is also well worth a visit.Перевод автоматический.
- Heiko K.август 2014ПоложительныеLocation, landscape, nice peopleWonderfully situatedWe stayed at the campsite for two weeks in July 2014. The location directly on Loch Dunvegan is fantastic. Otherwise the site is simple but well maintained. There are shops in the village (approx. 1 km). There is not much else on the site: no playground, no entertainment.... But on Skye there are 1000 possibilities to enjoy the fantastic landscape.Перевод автоматический.
- Werner S.август 2014ПоложительныеCleanliness, friendlinessОтрицательныеNarrow access roadExcellent placeThis is how a campsite (for motorhomes) should be. The site has a well-functioning infrastructure and is well maintained and very clean. The site is located on the edge of the village of Dunvegan and is an excellent base for exploring the west of the Isle of Sky.Перевод автоматический.
- Uwe K.июль 2013Beautifully situated CP with great views. Very quiet surroundings. The campsite operator is very friendly, the sanitary facilities are simple but clean, Dunvegan Castle and Dunvegan are within easy walking distance and are ideal for hiking and cycling. We would love to come back.Перевод автоматический.
