very nice place
To be honest, we only ever use the site for a stopover on the way to Croatia.
But we look forward to it every time.

The facilities, the ambience, the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff are unique.

There is a small kiosk for the essentials, a swimming pool, a restaurant, animals for young... and old.

If the driver wants to sleep, the rest of the family won't be bored.

There is a meadow where you can leave the site at any time and it is quite close to the highway.

If we drive this route, we will always spend the night there again.

We originally only wanted to stay here for 2 nights on our return journey from Croatia.
But we liked it so much that we extended our stay for another night.

Only suitable for families in July
We stayed at this campsite for the first time in June 2019 for an overnight stay. Outside of the vacation season, therefore quieter than this time. The campsite is certainly interesting for families and the children certainly enjoy swimming, playing or riding the tractor here. I would recommend couples... without children to use this site at a different time of year. We found the campsite very noisy and restless this time. We also had a young dog with us, so it was also quite exciting for him, and he was under constant tension. We really liked the fact that the youth fire department had a camp next door. Their events on Friday and Saturday evening were also ok. The fireworks display at 11pm on Saturday evening is also not to be criticized. However, it would have been very guest-friendly if there had been appropriate information, e.g. a notice at the store or reception. As it was, the very loud banging started without warning.

We have been coming to the Almtal Camp for 32 years, at least once a year. We like it again and again.
If you come once you will always come back, that's the slogan of the owners, you are always greeted in a friendly and warm way.
We feel really comfortable here as regular guests, you think we are already... part of the family.
What should be particularly emphasized this year is the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities, despite the long weekend with a very full place, there were no compromises in the sanitary facilities.
You could always find clean sanitary facilities no matter what time of day.
Praise to the hard-working staff (please pass on)
We must of course also praise the restaurant operators for their friendly hospitality, which is highly recommended.
We must not forget the friendly staff member Raija, who does a great job in this place.
In a few days the new wellness area with indoor pool and sauna area will be opened.
We wish the team many more vacationers and travelers.
Our Austrian neighbors Hani and Robert also feel that the place deserves it.

The only positive thing to mention is the good food and the nice, service-oriented service there. Top food, good value for money

1 central power connection for 12 pitches, 50m power cable requirement for most pitches. Pitches massively silted up, campers sometimes have to be pulled out of their pitches. Everything is simply rented out. Price 2 adults +1 dog 39 € in June, but unclean showers, toilets and sinks, disgustingly dirty garbage cans. Wellness oasis still under construction, on arrival we were allowed to wait 1 hour because of tar work. Then there was the smell of tar, construction noise and no excuse. From the surrounding allotments also lawnmowers and similar. Noise, plus regular car traffic on the surrounding roads, which are used for walking by many guests. When and why this place was recommended by the ADAC remains a mystery.
ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED CAMPSITE
Not only us, many other guests leave after 1-2 nights because they are dissatisfied. No shrubs, hedges etc. are trimmed, generally unkempt. The slogan of the campsite is a mockery, not to say a cheek. We will question the ADAC's assessment in detail when we return home.

Dear K.P. family! As presumably Austrians, you know the Austrian weather. When it rains so much, grass pitches are not always easy to drive on with such heavy vehicles and experienced campers know the weather and its conditions. The wellness facility is already a long way from a shell and if you have... experienced delivery problems and price increases in recent months, then you will certainly understand that we have also been affected. The sanitary facilities are exposed to the weather by the many users and are cleaned regularly, but a lot of soiling is certainly also caused by improper use and if everyone pays a little attention to cleanliness and tidiness and leaves the premises in the same way, then things will look different. The many other guests you interviewed left because they had not booked any further. 2 families found the weather too bad in Austria and left early for their booked destination to the south. We will not fill up the lawns with gravel and asphalt and completely destroy nature. Camping is pure nature or am I wrong? Our pitches are constantly being maintained. You already knew the price before your arrival and it can be viewed transparently on the homepage. If that doesn't fit into your travel budget, then I'd say it's the wrong place? The connection to our guests is very important to us, as is flexibility. Camping means freedom without rigid structures. I don't understand why they didn't find it worthwhile to clarify this with us on site, to resolve their displeasure objectively with us on site. I don't think that driving off and leaving the colleague with the message that we will read about them is part of sensible cooperation. The smell of tar up to the pitches is impossible and waiting for the pitch is more than usual with gated pitches! All the best and satisfaction for you.

Super nice welcome, pitches were under a blanket of snow, we were allowed to stand on the access road. Super-fast WiFi, the sanitary facilities were a dream and a wellness area is currently being built. Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn't open yet, but as far as we could tell, none were within walking distance.

Thank you very much for the great review. Due to the change of tenant, Corona and the lockdowns, everything was a little different at the beginning of the year. Now we hope that everything can stay open and the new inn tenants are very, very good innkeepers with full passion.

The heated swimming pool is really great and so is the connection to the highway. The sanitary facilities were great, everything was modern, clean and new!

We were unlucky that the restaurant was closed for 2 days when we were there. The range of restaurants in Pettenbach is very modest in the low season. Unfortunately there were no bread rolls, not even on order, on site, so you had to drive 5 km. We found the price very expensive compared to the high season, as we didn't get any bread and the reception was not manned and there was also a large construction site on the site which led to restrictions. The prices should be reconsidered here, whether €2 less is ok ?!

Late but still an answer. We apologize that we only read the message today. In the fall season, the restaurant on the square is usually closed for 2 days. After the summer months, the lack of staff etc. more than deserved. Unfortunately, the surrounding area no longer has too many inns. The long lockdowns... have also ensured that the staff have looked for other jobs and it has simply become more than difficult. Our prices may sound expensive to some people, but with us they are all-in prices. All usage, consumption and charges are already included and there are no additional costs unless you use the washing machines. But of course it's up to you what you're prepared to pay for a vacation and we've all already been affected by the price increases that were already looming back then. As we don't have any discount agreements with camping clubs, except for the ÖCC, there is of course no discount. The mini market has been open from May to September for countless years with its wide range of oven-fresh pastries. You can always find this information very transparently on the homepage or simply send us an email. Stay healthy and we wish you all the best.

The campsite is beautifully situated, the sanitary facilities are still new and inviting. The staff at the campsite and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.

The CP totally overcrowded, Corona requirements ignored by the campers, sanitary facilities very dirty, probably due to unsupervised children, the sanitary building at the tennis court an imposition, dirty and not at all worthy of a 4-star CP.
Campsite for families only
The campsite is beautifully situated, the sanitary facilities are still new and inviting. The staff at the campsite and in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
I can only agree with Petra Z.'s review, the campsite was hopelessly overcrowded and very noisy. We were there at the beginning of... August, despite Corona requirements, the campers had no masks on either in the store or in the restaurant, the place was extremely crowded, the children could do whatever they wanted, the sanitary facilities were very dirty, toilet paper and faeces scattered on the floor (probably by unsupervised children) no means of infection in the sanitary area. The tractor ride with the children would probably have been a bit quieter and not so fast. The staff was very nice and helpful, but helplessly overwhelmed by the Corona ignoramuses. The whole thing had a totally negative impact on the stay, so we only stayed one day, the place for short breaks is very nice and would be quiet if a teenager without a helmet hadn't been driving up and down the path in front of the campsite with a motorcycle at full speed all afternoon. You couldn't lie in the sun in peace, we were allocated the sanitary building by the tennis court, which was an imposition, dirty and not at all worthy of a 4-star CP.
Perhaps you should only visit the campsite in the early or late season, as the leisure facilities would be really worthwhile.

Thank you for your review. We take the Corona requirements very seriously, as you may have seen that the instructions are everywhere regarding face masks and our staff politely ask all those who refuse to wear masks to wear them. We are organizing the pitches so that everyone has enough space and room... and the sanitary facilities are being checked, cleaned and disinfected more than usual. The sanitary facility at the tennis court is only an emergency sanitary facility to enable guests to go to the showers etc. quickly. The main building is the one you will be shown on arrival. The other sanitary facility is simply to be seen as an addition and is also regularly "maintained" in the same way as the actual building. I agree with you that children should be well supervised and if everyone left the sanitary building clean and tidy, as they probably do at home, then things would look different. We also have to rely on our guests who come to us at the registration desk or in the mini-market and tell us to keep an eye out and then we immediately take care of the cleanliness. The frequency is simply higher in the summer and it can happen that we have cleaned up the mess and a few minutes later something is lying around again. We don't drive tractors at high speed. Safety first. We have disinfectant for our guests in the mini-market and at the registration desk. In the sanitary area, our cleaning staff are responsible for ensuring that everything is disinfected. Hopefully most guests will wash their hands with soap anyway? Thank you for the kind words about our staff. It is really, really difficult to force ignorant people to wear a mask. The sanitary building by the tennis court has only been opened up as an emergency sanitary facility for those who don't want to make the long walk to the main building. Surely you were shown the new facilities when you registered?

Due to the good reviews and the great location, we stayed at CP Almtal during Corpus Christi. Well-kept grounds, nice sanitary facilities, mini market, everything you need is there.
However, if, like us, you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. Due to the long weekend, no camper... was turned away, so it was accordingly full and noisy. What's more, from Thursday to Saturday from 5.00 p.m. there were hour-long tractor rides for children. The tractors sped through the campsite accompanied by loud music. It was very annoying.
If the campsite operator concentrates mainly on guests with children, no problem. But it would definitely be worth informing us.
Too bad, I can't imagine that we will come back again.

... Your review appears 2 times on our website. We have added our response to the previous review. A quick word about the disadvantages: I hope it wasn't loud all the time, but only when the tractor was driving. And about the partially unparceled areas: this is simply so that large vehicles, boats, a... group of campers etc. can also find space and room and we can be more flexible. All for the benefit of our guests, so that they can feel free. We do everything that we can and that is beneficial for the guest. But we also have fixed parcels. But I am happy about the advantages that have been mentioned.... that everything is clean, modern and barrier-free...

How do you do? Sorry for the late response, but the reply function has only just been activated. We are sorry that you felt this way. Due to the long lockdowns caused by Corona, the rush was huge and our facility is so spacious that there is enough room. Our philosophy is that we do not want to turn... holidaymakers away if they come specially. It would always be an advantage to get in touch immediately if you have a complaint, because that is also one of our great strengths, that we immediately look for a suitable solution. As a mother of 3 children myself (I don't know if you have children) I understand that the joy is great when you are finally allowed out and driving the tractor, as you say, is about 1 hour long and not during rest periods as you understand. It's hard to please everyone all the time, but we try very hard to make sure there's something for everyone. All our flyers, homepage etc. state that we are a child-, family- and dog-friendly campsite. However, I am pleased that you praised our "basics" (sanitary facilities, mini market...). It is also in our interest to offer something to our vacationers, such as tractor rides, campfires, barbecues, etc., as we would also like to get to know our vacationers personally and some friendships have already developed as a result. A beautiful place to relax
We stayed here for 2 nights. The site is very nice. Large pitches for camping. Nice new sanitary facilities. The staff was very friendly and despite the short length of stay with very detailed site explanation and guidance to free pitches. It was a great time and we will definitely be back.

Beautifully located campsite with good facilities
Was there in the low season (20-22.09.) while passing through. Pleasant atmosphere. A little noisy at times due to construction work on the surrounding vacation homes. However, the disturbance was limited and was acceptable due to the short length of stay. Otherwise a nice place that I can recommend with a clear conscience.

Hello Mr. Peeters! We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay with us. Every now and then, and this happens very rarely, it gets a bit busier here too, either because of our own events or because of good-humored guests who are in a vacation mood. I've welcomed all the guests myself and none of them... were bad, conspicuous, malicious, dangerous or could even be attributed to a difficult scene. I have never noticed that drug-like substances are consumed at our campsite and I would never dare to accuse anyone of this and anyone who does not endanger anyone else and is not guilty of anything bad is an accepted guest here. I would ask you to show a little understanding for the young people. Of course, it would have been better if you had been given a pitch further away, but it is often very difficult for us to assess who fits together and who does not. We were on the pitch for 1 week in September 2019. We are in Pettenbach once a year and have been for 29 years.through the renovation (2017) of the sanitary facilities and new distribution boxes for electricity bike rental, as well as W-lan free on the whole site, I can only praise the place. The friendliness... and courtesy is another point for the family-run place.by the newly designed restaurant and the heated pool, the place is worth a trip and not just for the transit.because there is much to explore in the area. Who comes once comes again and again is the motto of the place, as we think a true saying.of course there is also the possibility to stay overnight in the castle hotel but only with advance reservation.we wish the family many vacation guests for the coming years who stay longer than one night.we will certainly celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2020 in Pettenbach.see you next year your loyal guests Monika and Siegfried.
