- Johan d.June 2024PozitivnoPleasant reception. Fine spots on mowed grass. With car the city is easily accessible. Walking along the river in half an hour in the center. Plumbing is clean. Many picnic baskets available. There is wifi, but ..... Especially in the evening/night and early morning. Site closes in the evening with barrier. Code to enter available though. Located next to sports complex and indoor pool and skating rink. Price is in line with facilities offered.NegativnoVery dated plumbing. Number of showers work well and are hot. Number are not as hot. Wifi has a lot of time during the day with almost no coverage. Despite, that there is a lot of space, you get assigned a spot. Is that along fence, many cars and people pass by to the sports fields.for Inverness visit acceptableA typical city campground. Very dated plumbing, but clean. Stand a number (6) of permanent campers, who work in the area. Nice people. Do not bother you at all.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Heiko G.September 2018PozitivnoBeautiful location for a city tourNegativnoVery noisy for tent campers, outdated sanitary facilities.Ideal for a visit to InvernessWe have been to the site several times (for the first time 35 years ago) and keep coming back, mainly because you can walk along the River Ness to Inverness (approx. 1/2 hour). The sanitary facilities and especially the showers are rather off-putting. You really lose track of time there! It's also a... shame that the area for the tent campers is right next to a major road/crossroads and there isn't even a hedge to provide privacy. The bench/table combinations are positive. The various neighboring sports facilities can also be loud at times, especially the indoor swimming pool next to the site, whose ventilation only switches off at 10.30 pm... What was better this year was that there were fewer or no motorists on the site, which I had noticed in the past due to their inappropriate camper behavior and were quite numerous.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Jürg B.June 2017PozitivnoGood location for sightseeingNegativnosee ratingNEVER AGAINThe campsite is on the outskirts of the town, close to sports facilities, water slide etc. Not very busy during the week, but at weekends it is often noisy due to various events/fairgrounds, but you generally have to put up with street noise. Friendly reception, we were allocated a pitch on the side... directly on the road, no free choice of pitch. The site is tidy, pitches are parceled out. The sanit. Facilities very old, showers in a rather poor condition. Drain does not work properly, therefore mostly "high water", cleanliness could be better. After setting up, we went for a walk into town and only noticed on our return that about 15-20 campers had "settled" on the meadow in the middle of the pitch for a long time. Our suspicions were confirmed in the evening when everyone drove in with vans or other large cars, and the caravans were correspondingly large. Women and children were sometimes on the pitch the whole time. Unfortunately, the behavior of these people was not always camping-like, e.g. washing-up and laundry water was simply poured from the caravan onto the tourists' path, although there is a basin for waste water in the immediate vicinity. Dogs were running around freely, even though they were required to be kept on a lead, etc. There was no indication that there were not only campers on the site. We asked the site manager about this and he explained that the campers had been coming back for many years and that there were no problems with them. Wouldn't it at least be correct to inform arriving campers/tourists about the whereabouts of these "permanent campers" before they check in? In any case, all the pictures of the campsite show only tourists. 30 min walk from the campsite along the water to the center of Inverness. There are lots of stores of all kinds, food, Harris Tweed, souvenirs etc. There is also temporary parking (pay) on the waterfront and some large parking lots. If you take the open deck bus on a sight-seeing tour, you can get on/off at the campsite. Our uneasy feeling remained and unfortunately we only discovered another very nice campsite in the immediate vicinity on the Caledonia Canal shortly before our departure.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Volli d.July 2015Pozitivnoclose to the cityNegativnoOLDgood for sightseeingNot a great place, but perfectly adequate for visiting Inverness. Everything here is just getting on in years and it's not being modernized! We were the last ones with free WiFi, which is now chargeable.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Steffen H.June 2015PozitivnoClose to the town and leisure facilities. Good starting point for excursions in the surrounding area.NegativnoOlder but clean sanitary facilities.Camping at the sports park and River NessThe campsite was quickly discovered. The welcome is very friendly. The site is easy to navigate. The sanitary facilities are unfortunately a bit outdated and should be renovated. However, they are always clean. Catering is provided in the evening. A food truck comes to the site from 5 pm. Here you can... eat simply but well. The city center is about half an hour's walk away. But this route, which leads over an island in the River Ness and through a park, is quickly covered. There are also a number of leisure activities in the immediate vicinity of the campsite. There is a swimming pool and other sports facilities around the corner. Loch Ness is also not far away. This makes the campsite a good starting point for excursions into the city and the surrounding area. An overnight stay costs 20 pounds.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Herbert G.May 2015PozitivnoProximity to the cityNegativnoOnly 2 showers, no catering on sitePerfect location for InvernessThis site is in an excellent location for visiting the Highland capital of Inverness. The elderly couple who run the site are very friendly, the site is not noisy despite its size in May, the sanitary facilities are a little sparse, only 2 showers per block (2 blocks). There was no catering, but you... can have a wonderful meal and breakfast in a nearby restaurant. As we were only there for one night, the proximity to the town (approx. 20 min. along the river) was the most important thing for us.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Hansjörg E.August 2013Very suitable as a transit CP. Easy to find with GPS. Located on the edge of the town, which is only about 30 minutes' walk away. Sanitary facilities outdated but clean. WIFI (near the reception) available and free.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Joachim B.May 2013Located next to four sports fields, which are used for ball games or funfairs, directly on a road with average traffic * Sanitary facilities very substandard, from the 1960s. In our block there were three washbasins with separate taps, from the red one it shoots boiling hot at some point. One urinal... wall, two sitting toilets and one shower, no wash cubicles, all unheated. Washing up is done outside with cold water * soft grass pitch (no. 40), which was under a centimeter of water after a day of rain * you have to buy food in Inverness, approx. 3 km away in Inverness (Aldi, Tesco), easy to reach on foot, nice little town * peace and quiet mainly disturbed by the funfair in the evening, normal life in the area without the funfair * indoor leisure facility and great indoor pool with long slides next door * nearby Jacobite Cruises landing stage for boat trip on Loch Ness and visit to Urquhart Castle * cleanliness of the sanitary facilities still acceptable, the pitch itself is much better * free WiFi on the pitch, but very often interrupted connectionSamodejno prevedeno.
- Aline M.September 2011The park is not far outside Inverness, you can easily walk into the center along the river. However, it is somewhat hidden and difficult to find. The tent pitches are on a busy road and therefore quite noisy. The sanitary facilities are not the newest, but acceptable.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Walter C.October 2010Pitch especially for visiting Inverness (30 min walk to the city). Sanitary is o.k. Noise could come from adjacent sports facilities. The adjacent swimming pool also had the loud ventilation systems running all night during our stay.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Günter R.June 2009The site is located at a sports facility, close to the canal and River Ness, on the outskirts of the village. It is about a 15-minute walk to the town center. There are many leisure activities in the immediate vicinity. Internet cafe on the site. Friendly service! We stayed there often.
