The location directly behind the dune and within walking distance of the city center is outstanding.
The size of the site is very manageable, which we like very much.
However, anyone looking for adventure camping and entertainment... will be disappointed here. If the price-performance ratio is criticized here, this is quite understandable. The price is mainly justified by the location.
The small store has everything you need in terms of food, as well as a selection of drugstore items and basic camping equipment.
The restaurant offers a varied menu with good quality food. The new terrace is also perfect for a glass of wine or a cool Heineken at sunset.
Since the generational change in site management, the rules have become somewhat stricter, such as the prescribed orientation of the caravan/tent on the pitch, which is a small minus point.Samodejno prevedeno.- Hermann S.August 2022PozitivnoWonderfully situated! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Only the restaurant could be improved. It's only open at weekends anyway and makes a somewhat chaotic impression in terms of organization. With the new site management, everyone has to stand bumper to bumper, even if the wind is coming from the other direction. For this reason, you stand very close together and no longer have any privacy. Standing opposite friends is also forbidden. When asked... why, there are only snotty answers. During our stay, not even children were allowed to put their small tents next to each other, although the parents had 2 pitches next to each other. The site manager drives over the site umpteen times to check the exact pitching order.... What a shame about this beautiful siteSamodejno prevedeno.
- Nicole P.April 2022PozitivnoLocationNegativnoSecuritySEXUAL ASSAULT BY ANOTHER VACATIONERI spent three months as a permanent camper on the campsite. Although I generally have a good time, something happened to me at the end of these 3 months that shocked me a lot. I was filmed by another vacationer at the campsite while showering!!!
The showers there are not separated by gender, and although... you can lock them, there is a gap at the bottom where the vacationer in question stuck his hand out with his cell phone to film me!
A week earlier, the same man had been watching my girlfriend in the shower. He lay down on the floor and pushed his head into her shower cubicle.
I immediately called the campsite staff, who reacted with little empathy. At first they didn't even believe me, they just said that the perverse guest was leaving anyway. I didn't want to be satisfied with that. In the end, I felt extremely upset in this situation and the safety of the guests should be a concern for a campsite operator. In the end, however, the boss suggested calling the police, which is what happened. I reported the German vacationer. But he had already left and I had the impression that the matter was over for the campsite operator.
I am deeply shocked at how sexual harassment is trivialized on this campsite. I was shown no empathy whatsoever. Nobody asked me how I was feeling after this traumatic experience.
I also had the impression that they simply accepted sexual assault. This should be a reason for the campsite operators to consider how such assaults can be avoided in the future so that people can enjoy their vacation there in safety.

Bus to Leiden ? Cost of the ticket... ? How often does the bus run...you can ask, but all the answers we got were wrong....
Corona was actually only thought of in the... small supermarket, where only 2 - 3 people are allowed in at the same time, so that queues form at 8:30 in the morning when you can buy bread rolls there.
In the sanitary area women and men are together, many toilets were broken and partly in a bad condition, it is cleaned in the morning for many hours, but with these crowds of people staying there, the sanitary facilities must be in a bad condition. Nobody wore a mask and 98% of the campers didn't touch the disinfectant dispenser.
The restaurant is nice, the food simple, rather snack level. Prices are ok though (if you compare them with outside)
Most of the pitches are small and there is little consideration for each other, unfortunately you have to stand in a row and are not allowed to stand "optimized", due to the many "carpet" campers, the meadow is of course broken and yellow.
WLAN reception is poor, but you can manage with the available limit.

If you're looking for a campsite close to the beach, this is the place for you. The beach and the beach promenade of Katwijk are within easy reach and the walk to the town center takes about 15 minutes.
The pitches are small and close together. The car must be parked in the parking... lot at the entrance, but it is possible to transport shopping by car. The wind coming from the sea dictates the orientation of the caravan. This means that all vehicles are lined up close together. There are no dividing hedges or shady trees here in the dunes.
The only sanitary building is also a bit outdated, but sufficiently clean. If you don't want to perform ritual ablutions, the five minutes of hot water in the showers are sufficient.
The mini store on site is not cheap but offers the products you need for everyday life that you might have forgotten to buy at the supermarket. But that's about itThe campsite is extremely outdated and lives solely from its location. The pitches are small and you stand close together (even on the comfort pitches). The sanitary facilities are far too small for the size of the site and not exactly clean. You can take a five-minute hot shower. How this is supposed... to work with children and long hair is a mystery to me. The children's pool is a joke. Absolutely loveless and there is only cold water. WLAN is free, but it's not usable either. The campsite operator is completely unresponsive to criticism. If he realizes that it is wrong, he simply leaves.Samodejno prevedeno.

The location is beautiful: on one side of the park you have the Berkheide nature reserve which is great for walks, on the other the Katwijk beach promenade and nearby you can also visit... Leiden, for example, by bike. Unfortunately, that's where it ends ... We have rarely seen such small pitches. Anything larger than a 2-person caravan almost inevitably has to use the expensive deluxe pitches, and they're not really big either. It should also be mentioned that the caravans were not allowed to face in any direction, but in a fixed direction - allegedly for fire safety reasons - which is not enough privacy. Due to the space situation, you could also overhear every word your neighbor was saying at breakfast. There are also hardly any spatial partitions between the pitches. The security on the standard pitches is also no longer up to date. It can quickly go dark if you turn on an 800W camping kettle in addition to the standard electrical appliances such as a fridge. Gas is practically compulsory for cooking. All pitches near the only main road from the reception towards the beach should be avoided at all costs, as they are busy all day long. The only toilet block is cleaned about twice a day and the men's or women's side is always completely closed. It was estimated that it took just over an hour to clean each side. During this time, there was a double operation of both sexes on one side. It felt like the cleaning was only done with a high-pressure cleaner, which is why all the walls and floors were completely wet afterwards. Given the high season frequency, two cleanings a day are definitely not enough (it was virtually impossible to use the toilets without using disinfectant yourself). The showers can only be used for five minutes and sometimes very, very little water comes out of them. You then have to wait another five minutes or so before you can use them again. This led to queues forming, especially for the ladies, from the afternoon until late in the evening. Furthermore, there is a lack of important details in the sanitary area: there are four washbasins for every 16 or so toilets, but only two soap dispensers and again only one "hair dryer" for your hands. There are hardly any garbage cans. There are only 8 sinks for the entire campsite, which leads to longer waiting times, especially after the main meal times. There is also the additional problem that the campsite is not cordoned off and many day tourists park in the large parking lots at the sports field in front of the campsite and then make a pilgrimage through the campsite to the beach. In the afternoons, we also noticed that these day tourists also use the wash house to shower afterwards. We found the staff, especially at reception, to be not particularly friendly and cooperative. You could say they were a bit defiant. We didn't take a closer look at the grocery store on the site after we found bread rolls for 90 cents a bit steep on the first morning. Lidl or Coop can be reached by bike in a maximum of 10 minutes, which is the better alternative. The WLAN is only usable without interruption at night. During the day, it's as fast as a 56k modem, or alternatively fails completely. Fortunately, there is now free EU roaming. We definitely won't be spending a second vacation here.Samodejno prevedeno.

We found just that with "De Zuidduinen" campsite. The location of the campsite is simply wonderful. Right in the nature reserve in the dunes and yet right next to Katwijk. You can walk from the site directly onto the beautifully landscaped beach... promenade and into the town. The infrastructure of the site was OK for us, as we had booked a luxury pitch. 10 ampere fuse instead of the 6 ampere specified on the standard pitches. Another disadvantage for me was that there were no hedges on the pitch. Especially on the standard pitches, you stood close together. There was also only one sanitary building for the whole site. The cleanliness was good, but the rows of toilets take some getting used to. Even the showers, which are free of charge (5 minutes with the option to interrupt), were more of a trickle due to the saving heads (see nature reserve above). The supermarket was only open for a few hours in April, but there are various supermarkets in Katwijk. All in all, a successful short trip. Oh yes, we also saw the fox mentioned in the description. He walked past our pitch in the morning. A plus point for us: no dogs/pets are allowed. Simply great.Samodejno prevedeno.
