The walk into town through the park with the animals is pleasant.Samodejno prevedeno. - Philipp P.July 2014PozitivnoSmall, quiet, manageable, friendly welcomeNegativnoSquare & city offer no points of attractionSleepy little placeÉpinal is located in the north-east of France - many travelers to France drive past it at best, but hardly ever think about visiting it. This is - admittedly - not incomprehensible, as this small town is extremely unspectacular and does not have much of interest to offer tourists. A ruined castle just... above the town walls is nice to look at, but its effect is soon exhausted. However, if a camper does decide to stay here, the 'Parc du Chateau' is a good, very manageable place to spend the night. The site is small and cozy; it consists of a U-shaped piece of asphalt road, perhaps 100 meters there and back again. There are pitches to the left and right, some of which are occupied by caravans (no permanent camp atmosphere, don't worry!), and there are also two mobile homes. At the bottom of the 'U' is the fairly new waste disposal station (ground inlet) for motorhomes. The pitch is very steep, so you can't manage with the usual underride wedges, you have to improvise here. The reception is very friendly and it is obvious that someone from Germany is happy to be here. You can choose your own seat, bread can also be pre-ordered (very tasty). There is a small bar at reception, which probably also sells pizza & co. in the evening and where you can pick up your bread in the morning. During our visit in summer 2014, work was being carried out on the second sanitary building and the camper van disposal station. This work may have been completed in the meantime, so that there is an alternative to the central sanitary building. The facilities there are located in the basement and have recently been modernized, but overall they are a little gloomy, although clean and easy to use. Above all, they are reasonably heated, up here in France it can be a bit cooler even in the beginning of summer. I have posted some pictures of this. There wasn't a pool in 2014, but the website now advertises it - which makes the site more attractive when it's nice and warm. Children will find it rather boring here, as there is no play equipment or similar. The place exudes a quiet and peaceful character, but you have seen enough of Épinal in one afternoon to be able to move on the next morning. The city is, however, an Olympic base for promoting young talent. There is a gigantic indoor swimming pool with ten (!) 50m lanes just outside the city gates. There you can see young and old training diligently right up to retirement age. Perhaps a tip for rainy days. Remember: as in many places in France, you can't get in without official swimwear and a swimming cap. I would pitch my tent here again in a heartbeat, even if I was just passing through. These small French campsites are unbeatable in terms of price, you have a complete infrastructure on site and are safe behind walls.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Günther E.August 2012We were only there for one night, but that's about it. The sanitary facilities are very old, partly not functional, but the owners are extremely friendly. But if you're looking for peace and quiet.... There is no more peace and quiet! If you want to do some shopping you have to go into town. Addendum:... recent visit in Aug. 2013: the sanitary facilities in the main building are completely new, the owners have a kiosk and a bar where the boss also cooks and grills. The food is good in terms of price and quality, and the wine and open beer are also very good. The friendliness of the staff also deserves a mention. Perhaps the pitches could be sloped a little, that would be ideal. Even though it wasn't as hot as in southern Europe, the pool was always a wonderful way to cool off after a motorcycle ride. If at all possible, we'll see you again in 2014.Samodejno prevedeno.
