"beautiful on the river, unsuitable for caravans - the spaces are too small for caravans. the towing vehicle has no more space and costs as much again as a camper.

"Camping site close to nature - We had a good stay, were greeted friendly in English and were completely satisfied. the pool is unspectacular but sufficient for a good cool down. We would come again.

"Lima Escape was once good. Now it's average or weak!!! - The service at reception is poor. The Adega do Artur restaurant in the park has been closed down. The snack bar is extremely poor. It's slow and favors foreign tourists. My wife and I had to be rude and aggressive with an employee and... we immediately left the campsite... not only because of the terrible service, but also because of the excess of insects (flies, mosquitoes, wasps, etc). Poor hygiene or carelessness? The camp's streets are neither swept nor cleaned. Many of the trees are unsafe. You only have to walk around the park to see situations that could jeopardize the safety of campers! Night-time silence is not respected. The complaints book is well filled. The park was once considered one of the best in Europe. Now it's a stain. A park to avoid!!!

"Nature - Tucked away in tree row area. Silence & tranquility (mosquito May month = Holy Mary month!). Extensive natural area hiking, multi-day trips, MTB. Ponte da Barca at 6 to 7 km for shopping; nice town with good bakeries, good restaurants. Ponte de Lima, +/- 25km, relatively large city with "all the trimmings"! Plumbing is fine!

""A touch of Sweden" in Portugal - Very nice and quietly located CP. "Unfortunately" we only stayed here for one night. Pure nature... the pitches are in the middle of the forest. The sanitary facilities are of a very good technical standard. They were clean at all times. The price-performance ratio is perfectly acceptable

Profil

Lima Escape is what estate agents would call ‘wonderfully appointed’. Nestled on the western-edge of Peneda-Gerês National Park (also known simply as Gerês), where 70,000 hectares of vast, amphitheatre-shaped space wows visitors each year with its deep river valleys, colossal …peaks, and magical forests of oak and sweet-scented pine. With so much exploring to be done, you’ll need a campsite close-by where you can sleep off that sweet hiker's fatigue. Thankfully Lima Escape ticks that box and many more... The site is huge (there’s capacity for 400 campers), yet it seems to maintain an intimate atmosphere whilst still showing off the site's vast, spectacular natural beauty. And what natural beauty there is. Pitching up in lush woodlands, surrounded by oak and pine trees, whilst the River Lima snakes its way nearby is a real pleasure for even the most seasoned camper. When the torches are switched off, and all you hear is the wind in the trees and the patter of weaving water, you realise Lima Escape is a bona fide camping nirvana. One thing’s for sure, you won’t get bored. If you’re an enthusiastic rambler, you’ll love the surrounding mountains which offer a multitude of high-elevation paths and mountain biking treks, with views to knock your socks off. Gerês (Portugal’s major National Park) is spread across four dramatic granite peaks, and is especially popular with hikers in April and May when it’s twisting trails bloom with wildflowers.

Navodila

From Porto airport: join the A3 highway and travel 75km in the direction of Braga/Valença. After passing Vila Verde, drive another 10km and take the 12 exit to Ponte de Lima. After the paying point you have to pass the …ring road, taking the 2nd exit (Ponte da Barca, Arcos de Valdevez) to the highway IC28. After 15km you will pass the exit to Arcos de Valdevez and a bridge over the river Lima, there on the ring road take the 2nd exit to Lindoso. After 10km you will see the sign ‘Ambos-os-Rios’, pass the bridge and turn left on the crossroad in front of the sign ‘Parque de Campismo’ and a place card of ‘Lima Escape.' The sites entrance is only 30m after that. Public transport: There is an everyday shuttle bus from the Porto airport to Ponte de Barca (more information at site: http://www.barquense.pt) where you can catch the other bus to Lindoso which stops 20 meters from the camping site (Entre Ambos-os-Rios), take a taxi (it´s about 10-12 euros from village to camping site) or contact the camping site to pick you up.
