Nevertheless, access through the town is easy, regardless of the direction. Good signposting. The entire campsite team is very well organized. Pitches of different sizes are allocated. The "drive-through" layout of the pitches makes it easy to... drive to and from the pitches.
The pitches are asphalted with a small grass verge. Electricity on site, water points distributed throughout the site.
The sanitary facilities were the cleanest on our trip from northern Finland to Helsinki.
The proximity to the subway and two shopping centers is very positive. Although it is high season and a lot of people come from or go to the ferry - surprisingly quiet.
Only the rather long walk to empty the chemical toilet, depending on the pitch, detracts from the very good overall impression.

The pitch was not too small for our large CW with awning, the sanitary facilities were sufficient in number and in relatively clean condition, which is not a matter of course for the HS. No awning may be extended on the small pitches (fire regulations). Several sanitary blocks. They are clean and good. Metro is about 5 minutes away on foot. Supermarket is at the metro station. Metro takes about 20 minutes to Helsinki Central Station. The parking spaces are a little narrow but cleverly laid out so that you can park and unpark with a trailer without having to maneuver. They are also asphalted. The sanitary facilities are adequate for... the site and ok, but the washbasins and mirrors are too low for our height, which should be all the better for children. Jürg B.June 2016PozitivnoBeautiful, very well managed campsite with a direct metro connection to the city center of Helsinki.NegativnoCertainly a lot of activity in the HS and therefore possibly a little more noise on the pitch.Great place for sightseeing Helsinki and the surrounding areaWe have known this place for decades and always come back. Friendly welcome at reception, multilingual staff, uncomplicated check-in, free choice of pitch, 24-hour service. A lot has been changed and renovated in recent years. The site is in good condition and well maintained. For some time now, the... pitches have been parceled out, you can choose between a small and a large pitch, depending on your camper van or caravan, and of course at different prices. On the large pitch it is possible to put up a tent or awning. The sanit. The sanitary facilities were in very good, well-kept and clean condition, as was the kitchen with cooking and washing-up facilities, plus a well-equipped laundry room. The site is on the outskirts of the city, we heard nothing of street noise etc.. Good connection to the city of Helsinki, subway station approx. 5 min. on foot, it is recommended to buy a 24-hour (or longer) card at the vending machine, valid for subway, bus and streetcar in the Cty. If the weather is fine, it is also worth taking a ride on the Ferris wheel at the harbor, 10 euros/person, with a very good view on a clear day. The Felsenkirche is also unique and can be easily reached by streetcar from the city center; approx. 5 min. walk from the streetcar station. Holger J.June 2016PozitivnoVery good location and good connections to the city.NegativnoMinor shortcomings, not good value, few inclusive servicesWell-connected square close to the city center in HelsinkiCorrect homepage: http://www.hel.fi/rastilaen This site is run very professionally, with a 24-hour reception. When booking a pitch, you have to choose between a 'small' and a 'large' pitch. You can't pitch an awning on a 'small' pitch. If you have a caravan and drive the car all the way to the front... and the caravan all the way to the back, you can just about fit a table and 2 chairs in between. There is virtually no space to the right and left of the caravan or car. See also the photos! In a motorhome there is of course more space at the front and rear. The spaces are quite tightly packed, arranged diagonally like parking pockets, asphalted and separated by narrow grass verges with hedges in between. There are pillars with power connections and pitch numbers on the grass verge. Unfortunately, there are no inclusive services: Sauna and laundry have to be paid for separately - and not too cheaply. But at least the showers are included. There is a powerful jet, but the temperature varies greatly and is therefore difficult to adjust. There are good shelves and hooks for hanging up bathrobes, towels etc., but some of them are missing. Obviously this is not regularly checked and repaired. Disturbing noises from the metro and expressway are mainly in area "S", in the other areas there are buildings in between that shield. If you want to have a short walk to the entrance, choose a pitch with a small number, e.g. B1. If you prefer more peace and quiet, choose one with a higher number, e.g. B15. Disposal of chemical toilets is only available next to the reception building and at pitch A1. In addition to the pitches for caravans and motorhomes, there are also huts and a meadow for tents. A small path leads directly from the campsite to the beach, although this is public. The connection to the city by metro is very good. It runs very regularly and single, day and multi-day tickets are available. Shopping is available in a small market very close to the campsite and in a larger supermarket on the opposite side of the highway. Roland B.June 2015PozitivnoProximity to the subway, cleanliness, lots of greeneryNegativnoPartly noisy, catering facilities could be betterA large space with many possibilitiesIf you want to camp in Helsinki, this is the only place to go. Despite this monopoly position and the fact that the site is still in the city, it offers more than you might expect. Sufficiently clean sanitary facilities, a playground, lots of green space, recreational facilities, facilities for eating... and drinking and, of course, the obligatory Finnish sauna. The proximity to the metro station makes the location perfect for a stay in Helsinki. You can be in the city within 15 minutes. The pitches are rather small, but offer everything you need (electricity, waste water, fresh water). Food supplies must be obtained outside the campsite, but a nearby petrol station is the first port of call. It is quiet directly at the campsite, but depending on the pitch, the subway or noise from the neighboring housing estates can be disturbing. A word about the smaller sanitary facilities: these were unisex during our stay, as the area for women was being renovated. An alternative option was signposted at the main facilities, which made this circumstance absolutely bearable. Unfortunately, there was no time for the beach, but the view of it from the (above-ground) subway was promising. Pitches are available in 2 sizes. Although it was the main tourist season, we had no complaints about the sanitary facilities. You can also put up an awning on the large pitches without any problems. Our awning is 2.50 m wide! We could neither see nor hear the main road or the subway station, which were within sight and earshot.
