- Roman H.August 2024Pozitivno- Toilets - Location by the river - green plotsNegativnotoo few washbasinsGood placeThe site is very easy to reach for all vehicles. The toilets are great, at least the ones in the 2nd container. You have your peace and quiet there!
Unfortunately only 4 washbasins in total. This leads to waiting times during rush hour.
It's nice to be by the river, even though you're in the city and... surrounded by greenery. Electricity is available, WLAN is also included.
You can also book a boat tour directly, unfortunately the boat was broken during our stay. Riga Old Town is 10 minutes away by car - there are plenty of parking spaces.
There is a very good restaurant at the marina to the north of the campsite. Within walking distance!
With the dog you have very good running areas. When we arrived there were also numerous dogs.
The site is very clean, the toilets smell very good. The showers (included in the price) are also great, but if you arrive too late in the evening, the hot water can run out.
This site is also very quiet for the city.
I would book the pitch again at any time when visiting Riga.
Everything was represented on the site, from tents to motorhomes, caravans, even buses and Concorde campers.
We were 4 people (2 adults + 2 children), car + caravan. + dog and paid 140 euros for 4 nights.Samodejno prevedeno. - Edith W.July 2018PozitivnoClose to the city, 15 minutes by bike to the old town, picnic tables, coffee machine, beautiful view of the waterNegativnoSanitary facilities unkempt and very narrow, for 40 pitches only 4 WC's, you stand very close!!! Water tastes rusty and smells badParking space close to the city - nothing more! For a city campsite you have to accept a certain amount of cramped conditions, no shade and noise levels, but not that the sanitary facilities are not cleaned on Sundays in high season when the campsite is full and the floor in the shower is under water. The price of Euro 20,- for 2 persons with camper is acceptableSamodejno prevedeno.
- Annett M.June 2018PozitivnoCity is within walking distance, quiet despite the industrial port oppositeNegativnononePerfect for sightseeing followed by relaxationWhen you arrive here you might think you are in the wrong place. Although this place is very similar to a parking lot, I have to agree with previous reviews. Super city campsite! Very friendly, completely uncomplicated operator and the sanitary facilities are very clean, even if they take some getting... used to. We stayed here for 2 nights to visit Riga. You can call a cab through the operator to get into the city (approx. 12€ for 8 people), but you can also walk (approx. 45min -1h). You also have a wonderful view of the Riga skyline and what was very pleasant for us was that there is an open pavilion where you can eat in the dry even when it rains, if it is too warm in the caravan and too wet outside, as it was for us. The covered pool was unfortunately closed.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Anke L.June 2018PozitivnoGood location to the city.NegativnoNone at all for me.Great location, perfect for visiting RigaI can only agree with all the positive reports. Great location, very nice, there is even a book table where you can swap books and take them with you. (Also enough German literature). Nice loungers and a green area to sit down and enjoy the river. Free WLAN.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Jürg B.June 2016PozitivnoQuiet city campsite with all the necessary facilities and connections to the centerNegativnoPossible disturbance of the peace at night when ships are unloadedIdeal place for sightseeingThe site is located directly on the Daugava River with a view of the harbor and the cable-stayed bridge, fenced all around. Very friendly operator who speaks English and some German. The site offers approx. 40 parceled, asphalted pitches for caravans and motorhomes and some tent pitches on a meadow strip.... The sanit. Facilities are housed in containers, very well maintained and clean incl. WW. Chemical WC disposal on site. There is also a restaurant (unfortunately still closed) and a covered pool on the site, and a few sun loungers are available to guests on the meadow by the canal. The surrounding industrial companies do not disturb, no noise, no smell. However, a ship may be unloaded across the river in the evening, so there may be some noise, harbor crane, etc. No food supply on site, supermarket about 2 km away. Possibility to go by boat from the campsite to the center, but expensive, Euro 20.--/person, better by public transport, bus station approx. 200 m > Euro 2.--/person or cab, approx. 8 Euro. Lunch break from 12 - 15 o'clock.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Johannes B.August 2015PozitivnoProximity to the city, friendliness, cleanliness, serviceNegativnono supply on site, but shopping center only 2 km awayAsphalt squareWe had a bit of a stomach ache when we drove onto this site, an asphalt campsite in the middle of an industrial estate is something else. What's more, the reception wasn't open yet and we were almost the only people on the site at 2.30 pm (there were motorhomes there, of course). When we decided to stay... and the very friendly, German and English-speaking operator opened reception at 3.00 pm, we felt it was the right decision. Unfortunately, the only thing I can tell you about the boat transfer to the old town is that the transfer costs 20 euros per person (regardless of age). The operator advised us to take a cab, which he also ordered and cost us 4 people 6 euros to the old town. The old town can certainly also be reached on foot (perhaps too annoying with 2 children) or by bike (who wants to explore the old town by bike). After our day in Riga we went shopping in the shopping center close to the campsite and on the way back we drove over the very full Rigacitiycamping and were happy to be on a pitch where there were only 40 pitches, which were about 40% occupied. The children, with "pavement-weary" feet, found the TV reception and the very strong Wi-Fi good for rounding off the day in Riga after a dip in the small, covered pool. The sanitary facilities are housed in containers and were in perfect condition and spotlessly clean during our stay. The site is 100% recommended for Riga tours.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Andreas W.August 2015PozitivnoThe quiet location by the river with a great view. The pool. Close to the bike on a beautiful path to the old town.NegativnoNo direct shopping facilities. Place a bit sober overall.Pleasant town squareWe felt very comfortable with a view of the river and the skyline of Riga's old town. You can be in the center in 15 minutes by bike. Riga is bike-friendly. The place is a bit sober, but sufficient for a city tour. The small, covered pool is nice. The free loungers at the "Riverside" are nice. Washing... machine and washing-up facilities now available. Disadvantage: no shopping facilities on site. Very good hotel restaurant right next door, but expensive. Very clean sanitary facilities. Ferry no longer ran at the end of August. Conclusion: ideal for two or three days watching Riga.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Herbert L.September 2014PozitivnoAffordable city campsite Close to the city centerNegativnoLocated in an industrial estateAs we all know, city campsites are always...... a compromise. You have to accept something for the proximity to the city, either in terms of price or space. The Riverside campsite is located on the island of Kipsala on the left bank of the Daugava, approx. 2 kilometers north of the famous wire rope bridge. It has around 40 asphalted and marked... pitches, a narrow meadow for tents, two sanitary containers, a small indoor pool, sauna, electricity connection and facilities for supply and disposal. The prices are obviously deliberately lower than at Riga Citycamping. 18 euros for two people plus wifi. I couldn't find a washing machine and dryer. There is no facility for washing dishes. From the campsite you have a view of the cable bridge, the industrial harbor and can watch the cruise ships and the ferry to Stockholm dock. Directly opposite, on the other side of the Daugava, gravel is loaded from railroad wagons onto ships. This can go on all night. The problem with the location of Riverside Camping is the connection to the old town of Riga. You have the following options here: - The old town can be easily reached by bike. But do you really want to take a stroll through the city by bike? - In the mornings and evenings (until approx. 7 p.m.) there is a bus connection approximately every hour (bus stop approx. 200 m away). - At the foot of the cable bridge (approx. 2 km away) the buses run at very short intervals. - Depending on your fitness level, you can walk to the center in 30 to 45 minutes. - In the evening or at night back to the campsite it is a bit lonely from about the exhibition grounds. If you don't want to walk, you should take a cab. The "Olympia" shopping center is about two kilometers away (supermarket, pharmacy, café, fast food restaurants, free wifi, etc.). Caution: immediately after the turn-off to Riga Citycamping, there is a nasty speed bump at the International School of Riga. Cross slowly!Samodejno prevedeno.
- Uwe B.August 2014PozitivnoBeautiful view over the Daugava to RigaNew pitch directly on the banks of the Daugava opposite the old town of RigaFirst of all: We only looked at the new pitch, it was too late to change location. That's why I can't give an assessment on some points such as quietness and infrastructure... The parking space is not far from the "Messehallenstellplatz", but even further away from the bridge to the old town. According... to information from the Internet, however, there is a boat transfer to the old town. (located directly opposite). Perhaps there will soon be reports from campers who have used the transfer. We like the pitches in the "front row" with a view of the old town. There is a small green area in front of it where you can sit comfortably in the evening and enjoy the wonderful view. That makes up for the "parking lot flair"... The toilets and the washing and shower facilities are located in containers and were spotlessly clean and in order during our visit. There is a terrace with a view of Riga and a small swimming pool, which was also used by some of the children. We will definitely go to this pitch on our next visit to Riga (we have now visited Latvia for the 3rd time after 2010 and 2012). Getting into the city center is certainly no problem with bicycles.Samodejno prevedeno.
