- Ulrike T.September 2018PozitivnoProximity to Galway by bus.NegativnoUnfriendliness, unfair price. Below average sanitary facilities.Unfair priceAs a solo traveler with a small campervan, I had to pay the same price as a large ship with 2 people. I have no gray water, no chemical toilet to dispose of, I use the below-average sanitary facilities on my own. The proximity to Galway city alone does not justify the price! The gentleman at reception was unfriendly to me on arrival. I've never experienced that before on my trip through Ireland. What a shame.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Iris P.June 2016Pozitivno- Central location, right on the edge of town on a beach promenadeNegativno- Unfortunately, odors from the bayCP close to the city; good for excursionsThe CP is located directly on the outskirts of Galway; depending on the navigation system and direction of origin, you will be directed right through the city. The city center is a 20-minute walk away. The campsite and the footpath into the city are located directly on the water with a beach promenade... and swimming pool/sea swimming facility. The campsite is very professionally managed and well frequented. ADAC camping card holders get a worthwhile discount, which was kindly extended to our friends. We were lucky to get 2 pitches for the weekend without a reservation, as the site is also very popular with tour groups (Rotel and guided camping tour groups). This is mainly due to the good excursion possibilities such as Clifden and Cliffs of Moher (80 km). The campsite is surrounded by hedges, so there is no direct view of the sea, but it does provide protection from the wind. Depending on the pitch, however, there is an unpleasant odor at the bay (sewer or sewage treatment plant or similar) and unfortunately this is independent of the weather. The pitch owner welcomes you with an apple pie as a gift. He is also very nice, talkative and helpful. There is also a café building with a TV next to the reception, but unfortunately it is closed when the weather is bad. This was a shame because we had our only completely rainy day in Ireland on this site and a European Championship soccer match was on. We would have loved to watch it in the company of others in the café. The sanitary buildings are clean and tidy. The pitches are large enough and paved. However, a long power cable is required, as 4 pitches have to share a junction box and due to the spaciousness of the pitches, the cable drum may have to be extended. Depending on the pitch, you may be dazzled by one of the very bright lanterns in the camper van. In terms of facilities, friendliness and location, the campsite can really be recommended. However, we probably won't go there again because it always smelled unpleasant from the bay during the 3 days.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Christian E.June 2014PozitivnoIdeally located for visits to Galway.Ideally located for visits to Galway. The medium-sized site is located in the middle of the town of Salthill near Galway and consists of paved pitches and partly quite sloping grassland (slight slope). The site is well-kept and clean and offers a view of the sea from some of the pitches. The first row is occupied by mobile homes. The sanitary... facilities are average and clean, but when the site is full they are likely to be tight. Depending on the pitch, a longer electric cable may be necessary. During our visit, the view was obstructed by high nets in front of the campsite. There is no supply and disposal station for motorhomes, but water taps are available everywhere on the site. The entrance from the main road is easy to miss. The site is ideal for visits to Galway.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Marco H.April 2014PozitivnoLocation, cleanlinessWe stayed at Salthill Camping Park in Galway for two nights in April 2014. The site has a great view of the Atlantic, which is breathtaking. Although the site is in the middle of the city of Galway (the entrance is almost overlooked), you don't notice it on the site. The pitches are all asphalted, but... each pitch also has a piece of grass for sitting outside or for the awning. The site is very clean, as are the sanitary facilities - although they are a bit older, there is nothing to complain about. The chemical toilet is emptied in the men's room, it would be nicer if this was separate. There is free WLAN on the pitch, which also works very well (Skype compatible ;)). The owner / groundsman is very friendly and always has a good chat. The permanent campers are more or less together. The site is very suitable for visiting Connemara and the Burren. The price was a reasonable 25 euros per night for 2 adults with van and electricity.Samodejno prevedeno.
- Marcel S.June 2013Top site right by the sea with paved pitches. Everything was just right from the reception to the end. The only disadvantage is that the site is quite exposed to the wind. Ideal place as a base for excursions or a transit site, definitely recommendedSamodejno prevedeno.
