"Beautifully situated campsite with great flair, but..... - On the whole, I can agree with the reviews here: Even though it is no longer an insider tip, U Paradisu is a very quiet and beautifully situated campsite. The terrain is hilly, wooded and shady. There are no pitches - you can camp wherever there is space. If necessary, you can also camp in front of or behind the campsite if it is full. We were welcomed by an absolutely relaxed and very friendly manager. The whole campsite and the guests radiate this relaxed attitude. As already described in the other reviews, U Paradisu can only be reached via the 12 km off-road track, which is anything but easy to drive. It was a mystery to us how standard cars could survive the route unscathed. On the way, you could at least find the odd underbody cover and parts of bumpers. Even with our fully loaded travel enduro, it wasn't exactly a ride - but it was great fun. The small mini-market on site offers a small but adequate selection at prices that are not overpriced. The restaurant is not a gourmet temple, but the food was OK and sufficient. The prices here are also very reasonable. For example, you can take away a chilled bottle of wine (without a label :-) ) for €7! The beautiful sandy beach of Saleccia is just a few minutes' walk away. Behind the beach there is an extensive biotope, which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes - but with Authan it is quite bearable. Let's get to the point that made us move on after two wonderful days: The sanitary facilities! The sanitary facilities were cleaned several times a day, but they are getting on in years and, in our opinion, too small for the fully occupied campsite. There's nothing wrong with old sanitary facilities, but the state of maintenance is (to put it mildly) not ideal. Furthermore, there is no hot water - admittedly, I'm a hot shower enthusiast ;) If the condition of the sanitary facilities improves in the next few years, U Paradiso in Corsica will be my first choice. A campsite that is not for luxury campers, but for people who are looking for and appreciate the original camping flair to a certain extent.

" - I am pleased to be able to give a report here on this campsite, which is legendary in the motorhome sector and quite well-known in off-road circles. As this campsite is certainly visited by almost all guests because of the off-road track leading there and less because of the campsite itself, I think it is appropriate to describe this first. In this context, an important piece of information in advance: The campsite is not realistically accessible for normal motorhomes or even caravans! I would also strongly advise against driving there in a normal car. The road to the dream beach "Plage de Saleccia" (where the U Paradiso is also located): 12 km (one way) of off-road fun through the "Desert des Agriates". The entrance to the track is located at the western end of Casta on the D81. The entrance is signposted and quite narrow (yes, it really goes on there). The first 500 meters run through dense undergrowth, which is already perpetuated by relatively narrow vehicles. (It's better to close the windows if you see one or two cacti sticking out...) After that, the track becomes and remains wider and usually offers a great view of the "Desert" (from here on there are also plenty of passing places for any oncoming traffic or for "overtaking") The track itself is mostly stone/sand-based and in many places quite washed out depending on the previous weather, there are a few small water spots (rather not deeper than 30 cm). From an off-road point of view (personal assessment) I would classify the route as "easy to medium" - so the track cannot be driven on without hesitation, in many places a suitable lane must be clearly maintained or stones driven around, in one place (as of 09/12, this certainly changes after major rainfall) I recommend a previous inspection (unless you drive Unimog). The route is relatively hilly (the outward journey is more downhill, so think about the return journey - uphill is more demanding for man and material than downhill). Our opinion of the route: A real off-road route that we enjoyed very much - great and wide views - at the end a super campsite and beach (described in the photo) (photos of the track are enclosed in the photo section) For which vehicles is the track suitable (personal assessment without any guarantee, we are certainly not professionals but already have a 4x4 affinity, with such a thing everyone has to judge the driving and technical characteristics for themselves): The route is ideal for off-road vehicles such as Defenders, Landcruisers etc. (However, other off-road vehicles or SUVs (driven correctly) should not have any problems either (of course, a big city SUV with all-wheel drive and reduction gear replaced by low sills would suffer significant damage); Panel vans (VW, Sprinter) ONLY with appropriate ground clearance and all-wheel drive (usually the case with 4x4 Sprinters, and also with the old Syncro's); larger "motorhomes" ONLY with expedition orientation, i.e. in addition to all-wheel drive, continuous ground clearance (also think about the angle of the slope) also with correspondingly stable expansion (the slope is basically stony throughout, i.e. especially with higher bodies). This means that, especially with the higher superstructures, the whole thing rocks a lot and everything is shaken up properly throughout). Of course, you should be aware that the larger mobiles are too wide for such routes, so trees and bushes will leave their mark on the paintwork and windows. Please do not try to take the route with a normal motorhome, you may get through (back (uphill) but only with luck and in dry conditions) but the damage on the outside and inside would be extensive. The same applies to normal cars (we were able to "experience" a car on the route whose underbody did not look good). With our vehicles (Bimobil Sprinter and converted Ducato (high, four-wheel drive, locks etc.)) we needed about 90 minutes each for the route, i.e. 12 km (not including photo stops), an off-road vehicle will certainly be faster here. The campsite "U Paradiso" is more complete than you would expect at the end of such a track. There is a bar and restaurant (highly recommended) as well as a small store for the essentials - all in a personal, almost family atmosphere. The sanitary facilities are simple but functional. The camping area is adapted to the off-road vehicle clientele, ground clearance is also required here and of course not everything is flat. From Paradiso, it is a good 5-minute walk to the dream beach "Plage de Saleccia". Whether the beach is really a "South Sea dream", as some people claim, is up to you, but for us it was definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Corsica.
