Allegedly handicapped accessible WC is not handicapped accessible (handles missing).Simple campsiteI booked a pitch with electricity for my caravan in the immediate vicinity of the disabled toilet with advance notice. The final pitch was difficult to reach as there was a thick tree in the middle of the pitch. The water supply was faulty. The path to the sanitary building was still tolerable for me... as a severely disabled person. However, getting up after the "business" was always a challenge.
Large groups of geese kept coming across the pitches, the beach and the children's playground, leaving behind large amounts of droppings. Standing in the first row on the lake is wonderful. A positive thing to mention is the free W LAN which always worked, electricity is included in the price and the location is really idyllic.
Everyone has already mentioned the negatives and they don't change.... It looks to me as if the operators are just trying to make money.
You won't find toilets, qualified staff, a decent snack bar, a sandwich store with good sandwiches and a reasonable standard there. The toilets were not cleaned during our stay, no toilet brush or anything else was replaced.
The lake water was last checked for cleanliness in 2015. There are no Corona rules, clean wash houses, especially with children, are sought in vain. You don't have to be demanding to realize that unfortunately nothing is done at Lake Irene to make you want to come back. This was our last vacation there. We have booked again this year, if we are allowed to. The operators and staff are friendly, the bungalows are fully equipped and very clean and tidy. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking, cycling and, above all, relaxing. You... can relax on the terraces of the bungalows. Fish, birds and ducks are constant companions on the terrace.

We had arranged a stork revival meeting after 17 years and were looking forward to a reunion but
1) The huts (stork nests)
are unkempt, dirty and with the same cushions, curtains, sitting/sleeping cushions and old laminate as our old photos... from 2003 showed. The insect screens on the windows and door at that time have been removed and not replaced. The table cannot be used because of sticky drink residue and insects. The huts are infested with beetles and spiders due to the unmaintained wooden construction and have definitely not been cleaned for a long time, as several spider threads were hanging through one hut. Behind the non-functioning old tube televisions there is life.
The fridges in the neighboring hut had not been cleaned.
2) Sanitary facilities
Toilet and washroom cleaning is very irregular, as also criticized in other reviews. Apart from a sign, there are no corona protection measures such as disinfection facilities, controlled access restrictions. The day guests from the lake also use the sanitary facilities, so the toilets are uncontrollably overcrowded, far too few toilets, too narrow, dirty and far too smelly. A real risk in times of Corona, considering that masks are compulsory at reception and access is restricted.
3) Service friendliness price
Not in proportion, even the complaints and tips were only commented on with a shrug of the shoulders.

We did this 17 years ago and realized that nothing had been done to the stork nests since then. Even the cushions on the sleeping benches are the same. It was terribly dirty in the huts, the table... that you could raise and lower was so dirty that we couldn't use it. Millions and millions of tiny beetles live on the roofs of the huts, getting inside through the numerous cracks in the wood. Our entire luggage is full of beetles, they are in every bag and on every item we had with us. It was so disgusting that we preferred to spend the night in the car rather than in the hut! We've never experienced anything like it! There were just two benches (without backrests) for 4 huts in the outdoor area, a third was only brought on request. There was also a nice large seating area made of tree trunks, but unfortunately it was so filthy that you couldn't use it. The sanitary facilities at the lake are cleaned far too rarely, in the morning at 8am the dirt from the afternoon is still there. The cleaning lady only came around 9am when all the visitors wanted to freshen up and then cleaned between all the people. The toilet paper was constantly empty, some of the flushes didn't work. Soap was always empty and despite Corona there were no disinfectant dispensers at all! The whole area was so smelly and dirty that we gave up showering out of sheer disgust.
Our complaint about the lack of cleanliness was only answered by the lady at reception with a tired smile. It seems to be nothing new for her and nobody seems to care.
The lake and the play equipment were nice, but that was it!

There is a nice beach for swimming. The food in the restaurant was really great. Now comes the big but: everything, but really everything is covered with dog excrement!!! The free pitches full of it, the entire playground... including the sand, everything full of dog excrement, simply unbelievable how you can let such an idyllic place be so neglected. We arrived with a total of 5 motorhomes and 8 children. It was good that we had a look at the site beforehand. We wouldn't have let any of our children run around here. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities were anything but clean. To be precise, we have never been to a campsite with such horrible sanitary facilities. When the power supply failed during the... night (or maybe it was turned off??, because everything worked again in the morning) and we thankfully woke up, the matter of sleeping on (we had to switch everything over to gas) was settled.
