We like to come there our second home, first as a young couple, then with the children and they also wanted to return every year to Camping Malta, from tent to folding trailer and now with the caravan, good restaurant at the campsite, with live music every week in high season, we look forward to it again XXX

A fantastic campsite
If you are looking for a stopover for a few days on the way to/from Italy/Croatia and want to make the long journey easier for the children or even spend a longer vacation here (the place and the surroundings offer a lot), then this is the right place for you! (less than 10km from the Tauern highway)....
Dogs are also very welcome!
Beautiful terraced pitches, tent meadow, top restaurant with terrace and adjoining playground.
Tractor rides, petting zoo, pony rides, children's playhouse with supervision.
Top sanitary facilities and swimming pool on site (subject to charge)

Super nice campsite
A really great campsite where you immediately feel very welcome. It was a very informal atmosphere and everyone was very friendly and accommodating! The campsite is also the ideal choice with children - our little daughter really enjoyed her visit! We will definitely come back and stay longer! We are already looking forward to our next stay! :-)

We had a great vacation at Camping Maltatal. The site is perfect. Especially our boys (3 and 5) had lots of great experiences. Petting goats, riding ponies and the children's showers were a highlight.

The pitches are very large and even our huge camper had enough space.

There were lots of great ways... to pass the time in the surrounding area. Waterfall, archery and the Malta Valley in general has many hiking and cycling trails.

The staff were very helpful and we had an excellent meal in the restaurant every day. The pizzas (from the wood-fired oven) are highly recommended.

We will be back!

The whole site is very clean, the staff are very friendly and there is plenty for children to do. It's also great that there's a swimming pool on site at the campsite.

For us the best camping site in Austria for years
As always, we had a wonderful time at the Maltatal campsite in Carinthia. The atmosphere was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. We can also highly recommend the location - there was plenty to do and see in the surrounding area. I particularly liked that there was plenty to do with children... - from petting animals on site to tractor rides! Overall, I had a great experience with my family at the Maltatal campsite and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Carinthia. Many thanks for everything!

Zeer vriendelijke en gastvrije eigenaren. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Superschoon sanitair. Een prima kaart in het restaurant. Een heerlijke directe en ruimere omgeving, waar je heerlijk kunt wandelen en fietsen.

Heerlijke camping met fantastische, zeer gastvrije eigenaren. We have been coming here since 2001, first with the children and now together. The children love to "stalk" us, they love the camping and the surroundings.
A few years ago we enjoyed our vacation here two times a year and from next year it... will be three times! Even lekker helemaal tot rust komen. Deze camping voelt voor ons als een tweede thuis, en dat komt zeer zeker ook door Patrizia, Andreas en alle andere personeelsleden.

We were made to feel very welcome.
Camping Maltatal is one of the most beautiful campsites I have ever stayed at. The scenery is breathtaking, the facilities are first class and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. I would recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing camping experience. I hope it continues to be a top tip: 5 out of 5 stars!

We stayed there for 4 days while passing through from Croatia. We arrived spontaneously and felt very comfortable. The pitch had fresh and waste water directly on site.
It was definitely not our last stay on this site.

Perfect place to relax and enjoy nature
We like to come here again and again...
There are few campsites that combine as many advantages as this one. Large to very large pitches, electricity and water very close by, WLAN almost everywhere. The pitches are laid out in terraces and the old plants make the site feel very small and private. But... there are enough pitches. Short distances everywhere.
A very well-stocked kiosk, restaurant with a wide variety of dishes, a mini snack bar with ice cream + fries, an outdoor swimming pool of the municipality on the site (cheap).

The sanitary building deserves a special mention. A special concept (almost no doors to the individual departments and yet very private) very good shower area for adults and separate for children and again for families, two large washing-up areas, everything very, very clean.
Good entertainment for children in the summer (including supervision and arts and crafts fun), a nice playground with pedal cars and 2 table tennis tables.

There are also petting animals including goats and rabbits and free pony rides and excursions with the tractor and trailer.

The operators are very friendly, professional and quick to take care of everything you need. A really good organization. You can approach them at any time with any concerns.

There is no barrier, which makes access easier. This means there is no midday rest period, which is not necessary here as everything is well laid out. Large entrance to the campsite. (Only if the campers park badly, it can get tight). If time permits, personal guided tour to the pitch on a moped.

Nearby is the municipal office with information about the area. The next larger town of Gmünd is within easy reach. With shopping and supermarkets.

Terrasencamping Maltatal is close to nature, cycle paths and lots of adventure in the "insider tip" Hohe Tauern, Maltatal with many offers, about hiking, culture, sports, and much more.

You can go on vacation here! Any time!

Friendly host family, uncomplicated, always helpful. Place close to the highway. The children love the ponies, rabbits, cats and goats. New sanitary facilities are brilliant.

We can't think of anything except that the swimming pool doesn't belong to the square but to the municipality.

We arrived early and were able to choose a seat. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Sufficiently large pitches, wifi throughout the site. Restaurant great. Small kiosk sufficient assortment. you can explore the surrounding area well by bike or on foot, we did not get bored after a week. Sanitary super with small sauna. All in all a very nice quiet place. Small gas station right next door. Swimming pool on the site.

Excellent campsite!
We were in the Malta Valley in August.
10 days, 2 people, 1 dog.
We treated ourselves to a double pitch. The price was absolutely top. On other campsites you only get a normal pitch for that...
Water, waste water, electricity included.
Very friendly and pleasant reception. Extremely well-kept pitches.... The sanitary facilities and showers were always clean.
Disinfectant at the sanitary entrance. Corona distances and measures were always observed! Also at reception: partition wall.
WiFi didn't always work, but better than on some expensive pitches. It was enough for us.
Kiosk with a good range and fresh bread/rolls every day.
Excellent restaurant. We only barbecued twice ourselves because we had bought food. Otherwise every evening in the restaurant. Everything tasted great :-)
Great swimming pool. 10€ entry for the whole stay is really fair!
Of course you should take a shower before you jump into the cooler water at 30 degrees.
We highly recommend shopping at the "Maltataler" farm store run by the Truskaller family and at the bakery!
It was an all-round perfect stay for us!

Very unfriendly and clumsy response to a complaint
We arrived in a VW Caddy and announced in advance that we wouldn't be putting up a tent or needing electricity. The campsite management allocated us a pitch. Only when we paid did it turn out that we were on a "double pitch" with our own electricity connection (a more expensive category). When I complained,... they argued that no reservation fee had been charged anyway (?!?!).
I find it strange that we were charged for a service that we didn't even need and then, when I complained, only snotty comments were made.
There is obviously a need for more friendly communication from the campsite management. In any case, we will never stay at this campsite again. Our lack of understanding is very great and it leaves us with the unpleasant feeling of not having been welcome and of having been "ripped off".

Ms. Krudl - Unfortunately, we cannot accept your false statements. You specified a double pitch in the booking form in advance. You did not mention that you do not need electricity. Due to your smaller equipment, we allocated you a category 1 pitch, as we thought that a double pitch would not be suitable.... By mistake, we charged you for a category 2 pitch - so you paid exactly 10 euros too little for these 5 nights!!!! What you then wanted was to be charged for a category 3 pitch - the difference was a total of 3.50 euros for 5 nights. Please look at your bill. It's in black and white. You insulted us afterwards. You walked behind the glass front and started driving around with the PC mouse!!! Unbelievable. You put a lot of pressure on us and didn't keep your distance even though we asked you to. The Innsbruck family after you noticed everything and were very "surprised" by your behavior.
We charged you less than it was and you are talking about a rip-off?! We tried to explain the situation to you in a friendly manner but unfortunately that was not possible. Yes, the feeling is mutual - please never enter our site again. You don't have to be treated like this.

Very well run and beautifully situated site with large, mostly shady pitches and modern sanitary facilities. The swimming pool in the middle is certainly a plus, but a source of noise on nice days when everyone is having fun in the water - we were far enough away. Very friendly welcome.
A big minus for... us: the hygiene rules here are just a formality.
Nobody wears a face mask here. Not in the reception area, where people come very close to each other because of the small office; nobody keeps their distance here.
At the entrance to the sanitary building, where all the hygiene rules are clearly displayed (masks compulsory indoors, social distancing, hand washing, etc...), I was the only one who entered wearing a face mask... somewhat confused, I asked an employee there whether you don't have to wear a mask here. Answer: "Not really." When I asked what "really" meant and whether the notice on the door was probably out of date, I was told that it "just has to be displayed".
So apparently people here believe that a notice protects against COVID....
Strangely enough, none of the numerous guests from Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and other countries seem to be bothered by this. Or perhaps they are happy about a seemingly problem-free zone - they can forget the whole disaster for a while.
We drove on after a day because we didn't feel comfortable.

What a pity. But otherwise the campsite gets a great rating.

Despite the very nice location, there are some pitches on the main road. You can hear the traffic there accordingly.
Totally casual
A great campsite with all the trimmings: pool, restaurant, infrastructure. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the rain program as we were only here for one night. But the area is great with mountains, numerous hiking and biking trails. Very friendly staff with cool extras for the little ones, e.g. pony rides, tractor rides.

We had decided to stay at the Terassencamping Malttal for several days (5-10 days) and had previously asked for a free pitch by e-mail and also sent our contact details. When we arrived, although there were enough free pitches at the top of the site, we were allocated a pitch near the road behind a petrol... station. All in all, you can say that the sanitary facilities are top and the gastronomy deserves 5 stars, but not the allocated pitch. The only thing the manager was interested in was that you were standing on the allocated pitch and he wasn't interested in whether you liked it here, so my overall impression of this campsite is only worth 3 stars.

We would like to emphasize the super sanitary building, which is not only very well equipped but also kept very clean throughout. By far the best sanitary facilities on our trip through Carinthia this year. Our pitch was very quiet in a somewhat remote part of the site. The path to the sanitary facilities was therefore a little long, but not a problem. In return, we had a straight and quiet pitch. The host family is very friendly, even the young daughter who occasionally helps out in the restaurant is very friendly and polite! If this is the next generation, they are doing everything right. The restaurant is good, pizza fresh, fries delicious. However, the ice cream selection is somewhat limited. There are free daily pony rides on the square (no registration required) and tractor and carriage rides. The children love it, of course! The attractions in the area (donkey park and waterfalls) are great and there's something for everyone.

The WiFi did not work during our stay. There was reception, but it was not possible to establish a connection. However, we did not complain to reception, they could have done something about it. The swimming pool on the site (belongs to the municipality) is chargeable, from 3 pm approx. 50% discount. I wouldn't call it "heated", it's pretty cold until you get in. But the swimming pool itself is good. The store is small and the sandwiches were not very tasty. Probably the worst bakery on our vacation this year. I found it a big disadvantage that there was no information at registration that the tap water had been contaminated with coli bacteria for a few days and had to be boiled before use. Not a problem in itself, but important information, especially with a small child! A notice in the swimming pool informed us. In Austria, it is assumed that the water is drinking water. A minor disadvantage is the reservation fee of 11 euros per pitch, and a deposit is also required. We have never had such a fee before. If the reservation is not taken, the deposit is forfeited. That is "penalty" enough. So why the fee?
Well located pitch with great infrastructure
A beautiful family-run campsite in a good location. The waterfalls (Gössfälle!) and the donkey park nearby are highly recommended.

An electric car can be rented for 10 euros per hour, which provides good mobility.

The great sanitary facilities and friendliness cannot be emphasized enough.
