"Wine region north bank - This is my very personal opinion and may well differ from other opinions: A nice little campsite with direct access to the lake (not muddy!). At the beginning of July 2019, however, estimated only 30% occupied, which we could not really explain. The price/performance ratio is on a German (Baltic Sea) level and a little too high by Hungarian standards. But in expectation of a 1A place we accepted that. As far as I noticed, only one lady at the reception speaks enough German to be able to communicate. It's nice and quiet at night and there's hardly any disturbing noise during the day if you've chosen a seaside pitch. The clientele is quite international. Some Germans, more Hungarians, but also Czechs and a few Dutch. There are two sanitary buildings. One on the beach (toilets only), which disappointed us in terms of cleanliness (definitely not recommended!), and one at the reception. The large sanitary building at the entrance makes a reasonable impression and is also cleaned daily. If the place is more occupied I can imagine that the one-time cleaning is no longer sufficient! Some of the drains in the showers don't keep up with the water removal, so that after a few minutes you are standing ankle-deep in the service water. A major drawback are the taps in the showers and at the hand basins, which cannot be regulated in terms of temperature. Not everyone is a hot showerer at Hungarian temperatures of over 35 degrees. Such a small story, which is annoying and could be fixed so quickly. There is also a sauna which I don't want to use in these high outside temperatures. I didn't experience any fellow campers doing this either. Another annoyance for which the operator is not responsible is the gigantic number of mosquitoes (during our stay) (which thankfully don't bite for the most part, but there are just far too many), which make sitting outside after 8:30 pm virtually impossible. The very bright night lighting in the square is rather counterproductive. Perhaps it could be reduced, but maybe it has to be so bright at night for safety reasons. A real nuisance is the manning of the reception. When I asked where I could exchange money here, I was told "next door in the store, but the exchange rate there is only 1:300 (officially it's higher) or maybe in Badacsony or Tapolca". I expect something completely different from service-oriented specialists at these prices! You have to know where such important contact points are and immediately print out a map with directions (no problem at all with today's technology)! I work in retail myself and if I treated my customers like that, I could look for a new job! Exactly the same with the question whether I could fill up my gas bottle here. Answer from the apparent boss: Not here, maybe (!?) at the gas station down the street !!! This really annoyed me! I would have understood it as customer service if they had taken the bottle from me (for a small surcharge) and done it for me !!! In general, it seems to me that the new, younger generation has lost the idea of service. The "saleswoman" in the small store in front of the square spends the whole day lounging in the armchair in front of the store so that you can see her displeasure from afar. I've been going to Lake Balaton for over 50 years, but something like this would never have happened with the older generation. They knew exactly how important the guests/tourists were. Now I have the impression that they "no longer need it". WHAT A SHAME! It also seems that almost all the stores, from the petrol station to the ice cream parlor, are now staffed by schoolchildren and students. Even the cleaning staff here on the square are very young! On the positive side I have to say that it is very dog-friendly, there are free dog bags everywhere and also ashtrays along the paths. Overall, the site makes a well-kept impression and you also feel safe at night, which is not always the case! It was very annoying that some dog owners of different nationalities simply let their dogs run free on the site without a lead. Our dog was harassed by a free-roaming bulldog on his plot, which immediately led to a heated argument. Not all dogs can "smell" each other. Experienced dog owners know this. When I complained to the reception (in German, English and with Google also in Hungarian) I was told that the problem would be passed on to the "boss", but NOTHING happened until we left! We constantly had to keep an eye on our dog (always on a lead), which didn't necessarily help us relax. You certainly don't want to go to the vet when you're abroad. Once again, I am very disappointed with the management of the campsite! We had dinner in the center of Badacsony and paid considerably more than a few years ago for two snacks and drinks in a snack bar without service. This confirms the suspicion that prices have risen (at least here on the north shore). If you go into a restaurant without paying attention, you quickly reach the German price level! At the weekend the campsite filled up (mainly with Hungarians) and the many mobile homes were also used. But already on Sunday evening the pleasant calm returned. I don't know at the moment whether I will come back to this site. If you are not a dog owner, have enough gas and accept the price, you can spend a nice vacation here in the beautiful Hungarian weather. P.S.: Incidentally, I didn't manage to get my standard gray gas bottle filled within 14 days at Lake Balaton. Only the purchase of Hungarian gas cylinders was offered to me. In all the forums and on all the websites (including ADAC) they say something else!

"Unfortunately only one week at Lake Balaton..... - We decided to drive to the warm south at 3 a.m. instead of the Baltic Sea. On the way, we chose Lake Balaton. We had shortlisted three campsites. We headed for Badacsony Camping first, based on a gut feeling. We were not disappointed! Before I go into more detail, please bear in mind the time we were traveling (Pentecost). There was almost nothing going on in the entire region! But now to the details: What we found great: + Friendly staff + Very dog-friendly site (dogs are allowed on the beach, although officially not in the water, which is the case almost everywhere on Lake Balaton --> there is probably a small exception near Fonyod) + Dog walking possible directly from the site, beautiful walking paths! For example, you can walk directly in the vineyard! + Plots available for different preferences (large, small, with shade, without shade,...) + Small site --> short walking distance to the beach or the sanitary facilities + Clean, new sanitary facilities + Idyllic beach area + There is a cook-wash-up room with fridge/freezer combination for your food (great especially for people with a tent), four times two hotplates each, microwaves. The washing machine costs only 1 euro (300 forints)!!! You have to bring your own detergent. + Toilets also directly on the beach + Clean, pleasantly tempered water in the lake even at Whitsun + The small village is within walking distance + Delicious restaurants and wine bars also within walking distance + Direct connection to the Balaton cycle path + Small store on site (with food, ice cream...) + Bistro at the entrance where you can eat delicious food (greetings to Dora!!) + What young parents might like: Small, nice playground right on the beach + Great view of the vineyard, from the vineyard to the lake... Simply a dream!!! + Delicious wine, delicious food + CP very cheap, as is the whole region + Weather: Between 25 and 32 degrees (although sometimes thundery and stormy) + There is security on the site at night. The man (also the janitor during the day and the go-to guy for everything) was actually out at night. I saw that when I had to go out! + The grounds are well maintained and cared for (hedges trimmed, beds watered, grassed out...) + Sights (especially castle ruins, churches,...) nearby and easy to reach by bike or car + Everything very uncomplicated What we would like to mention, because it might bother others (not us!) or because it is worth knowing: * Train passes outside several times during the day. Didn't bother us or our direct neighbors at all. * There was a lot of traffic on the road at weekends, especially some boisterous motorcyclists spinning their wheels ;-) * There is also a small festival with live music in the village at the weekend. We thought it was great, but you can hear the music very quietly at night. * At our time of travel, there were also lots of young people on the campsite - one night was a bit more lively because of this... ;-) We were still able to sleep! * Dora's Bistro has only just opened, so she was only there "on order" to make breakfast. Maybe she'll be fully on site at Whitsun next year? She has just taken over the bistro and breakfast is really recommended! * Vacation guests were mainly Hungarians, the small remainder were Germans or Austrians. * There is a small grocery store in the village (Badacsonytomaj) and a somewhat larger corner store. Aldi, Lidl and Tesco can be found in Tabolca. * There is also a bit of typical tourist hustle and bustle in the town with souvenir stores, lots of food stalls, ice cream vans, stalls selling typical local handicrafts (but also bric-a-brac ;-) ),... * You can take the ferry directly from the harbor to the other shore! What we found negative: Hm, that's really difficult. Nothing really ;-) The only thing worth mentioning here (but this has nothing to do with the CP) is that the prices in discount grocery stores are PARTLY (i.e. for certain products) HIGHER than in Germany. That really surprised us! However, eating out in restaurants is always good and cheap. A few more tips from us: * Be sure to go for a walk or bike ride in the vineyards and drink a glass of wine!!!! But beware: the 0.0 per mille rule applies in Hungary! Fortunately, many pubs and wine bars are within walking distance! * Cycling tours along Lake Balaton are great, but you need proper tires or bikes --> cycle paths are sometimes very bumpy * Be sure to hike the mountain! Incredible view!!!! * Especially in summer you should have plenty of mosquito repellent with you... (there were no mosquitoes while we were there at Pentecost) * Super tasty and unusual ice cream at the castle café in Szigliget

Profil

It's a new-built, modern camping, with well-equipped waterblocks, kitchen, and sauna. We have an own beach and a playground, and there's free Wi-Fi for our guests. It's the closest camping to Badacsony (a center of a wine region), where are …lost of wine cellars, restaurants. This area is famous for the wines, and we are the closest campsite to the wine sellers. That's why our campsite is ideal for wine lovers. We have a separated bathroom with a bath and a nappy changing table for the little ones. This room is available from the women waterblock section. We also have some sport equipment, like table tennis and badminton. The guests can bring dogs in the campsite (while of course keeping the rules, for example not to disturb the other guests, etc.), and we provide a special washbasin for the dogs (because they are banned from the lake by the authorities). Particular target group might be families with children, and dog and pansioners who want to spend some time close to the nature and taste delicious wines.

Vägbeskrivning

We are directly beside main road no. 71, between the milestones 79 and 80. The closest town is Badacsony. There's a bigger town, Tapolca, 14 km far from us, where you can find several supermarkets and shops. There's a railway …station in Badacsony (by which Lake Balaton is connected with the capital city, Budapest), and there's a shuttle bus (Badacsony Region Shuttle Bus), which has a stop in front of the campsite.
