- Daniel R.July 2024PositivaFree choice of campsite; clean sanitary facilities (are cleaned frequently); directly on the Aare (invites you to swim :-)Negativathe universal concept of the sanitary facilities (see comment); too few parking spaces; only mediocre restaurantBern's beautiful campsite directly on the AareWe have been visiting the Eichholz regularly once a year for over 30 years and we still really like it there. But what takes more than a little getting used to is the "universal concept" in the shower/toilet area, which is advertised as progressive (no longer separate sanitary facilities for men and... women). It is not pleasant for women when an unknown man with a naked upper body is intensely watching them applying make-up (and "body-scanting") at the Brünneli next door - and a couple making out in the sanitary area is also inappropriate for men. The new partition wall between the toilet and shower facilities doesn't make sense either (you now have to change rooms to use the toilet and shower) - people are now increasingly peeing in the shower or while showering out of convenience... PLEASE SEPARATE THE SANITARY AREAS INTO SEPARATE PARTS FOR MEN AND WOMEN AGAIN!!! (for this reason there is only a 4 instead of a 5 in the overall rating)
What also irritated us a little on arrival: without a reservation in advance, there would be no more car parking cards and we would have to park in the blue zone during our stay (because the campsite was supposedly fully booked until mid-August); the day after, however, there were 17 free parking spaces - and we then got a parking space without any trouble...Automatiskt översatt. - Erik L.September 2023Positiva- Good surface (type of grass grid) - decent sanitary facilities - beautiful park and the Aare right next to the siteNegativa- The price is quite high - I was informed in advance by email that dogs must be kept on a lead, unfortunately only 50% of the guests kept to this and nothing was done by the site staff. - A kind of circus camped on the campsite and set up its wagon castle, which I found inappropriate. Incidentally, their dog was also on the pitch without a lead. - We left a day earlier than reserved and received no refund.Good for a city tourA well-kept city campsite with a beautiful location on the Aare. The sanitary facilities are modern and in good condition. Showers cost CHF 1.5 extra with a shower token. I did not like the fact that the leash requirement, which was explicitly communicated in advance by email, was not enforced by the... staff. During our two-night stay we were visited by 7 other people's dogs, which is unacceptable.
Our neighbor's starter battery was dead and he asked the staff for help at 09:00, the arrival time starts at 08:30. He was turned away, told it was a break and someone would take care of it afterwards. We then gave him a jump start and at 10:00 someone from the campsite finally came to help. Luckily the boy had already left, he had to go to university and was living in the bus on the campsite because he didn't have an apartment in Bern yet.Automatiskt översatt. - Marc W.September 2019PositivaIn the middle of Bern. Quiet and idyllic. Clean and tidy Easy to reach even with larger vehiclesA pearl on the AareIdeally located in Bern directly on the Aare. Very friendly and courteous staff. Clean pitch and sanitary facilities. Shopping facilities and public transport within easy walking distance. Quiet and idyllic. We will definitely be back.
- Angela und Klaus D.August 2017PositivaCentrally located, long reception opening hoursNegativaPitches for caravans or motorhomes a little tightHappy campingVery clean sanitary facilities, cell phone charging stations, very friendly staff always have an open ear and answers, free use of public transport - simply an ideal campsiteAutomatiskt översatt.

- Paul T.May 2017PositivaIdeal location, friendliness, clean facilityNegativaSpaces are allocated, vehicles are parked very close together.Ideal location for visits to the capital, zoo, GurtenQuiet site in an ideal location close to the city. Dählhölzli zoo and Gurtenbahn valley station can be reached on foot in approx. 20 minutes. Friendly reception. Too bad that the parking space is assigned and no consideration is given to the needs of the guests. The vehicles are very cramped even in the low season.Automatiskt översatt.
- Sebastian H.August 2016PositivaLocation, friendliness, cleanliness, public transport ticket included in the price, small pubBeautiful place in a great locationBeautiful and uncomplicated site in a great location, 15 minutes from the zoo and 30 minutes from the city of Bern. Good public transport connections, the ticket is even included in the price. The Aare is very close and there is a small beach.Automatiskt översatt.
- Carmen E.May 2016Positiva-Bern mobile card includedCentrally located campsiteCentrally located campsite. Ideal for exploring the area around Bern. The tent meadow is huge and you can choose your own pitch. The pitches for motorhomes, campers and WW are allocated. Access to the pitch is good. The mobile homes are very close together, which is not everyone's cup of tea. The sanitary... building is functionally furnished and was clean and well maintained. You pay extra for the showers and they are limited to 3 minutes. There are lowered washbasins for children. There are 4 covered sinks for the whole site. There are gas stoves between the sinks. If everyone cooks and washes up at the same time, it gets a bit crowded. The staff are friendly and helpful.Automatiskt översatt.
- Werner R.July 2015PositivaClose to the city and the Bern Ticket from the first nightNegativathe Swiss prices :-))Ideal for getting to know Bern and its surroundingsFits! We experienced very friendly and courteous staff, the sanitary facilities are OK, some of the pitches are a bit narrow but still OK. In summer you should definitely swim in the Are! Eat Bernese rösti on the market square at "Le Mazot". Very tasty!!!!Automatiskt översatt.
- Thomas M.July 2015Positivain the countryside and yet in the middle of the city Public transport included in the price no cars on the camping siteNegativaBright lights Caravan pitches rather narrow In the evening it can be loud from the adjacent parkIn the countryside and yet in the cityA beautiful meadow for tents with plenty of shade. When pitching, you should pay attention to the lights, as they shine unpleasantly brightly at night. You can drive onto the site briefly to unload your tent, after which there is a secure parking lot right next to the campsite. The staff are extremely... friendly, and the restaurant offers a wide range of dishes, although we think they are on the higher end of the price scale. There is a public park right next to the site, and it can get quite noisy there at night. There is also a beach that can be used as the start or end of a dinghy/canoe/swimming tour. Included in the price is also a ticket for the public transportation of Bern. This means you can stroll into the city center and take the streetcar back to the campsite in the evening.Automatiskt översatt.
- Marcin W.June 2014PositivaClose to the center and quietNegativaHow could sanitary facilities be built through whose slatted walls you can see people washing and peeing?!!!!Very pleasant campingWell located walking distance to the center of Bern 25 minutes. Lots of equal space. Sanitary facilities clean and to the x-ray? Recommended.Automatiskt översatt.
- sab n.May 2014Perfect starting point for Bern!Very nice campsite, perfectly located, very, very, clean, quiet. Unfortunately, I found the pitches for the motorhomes too narrow (like a parking lot...). Otherwise perfect!Automatiskt översatt.
- Bettina S.May 2014PositivaSpacious, clean, friendlyNegativaNoneSuper great long weekend with a youth groupWe were there with a small youth group of 12 people and were always treated very courteously and politely. We were allowed to play table tennis, there was a very good soccer pitch right next to it, we could swim in the Aare and we went on a night hike up the Gurten. I can really recommend this campsite.... We were given tips on what to do in the area, the sanitary facilities were extremely clean and tidy and the atmosphere on the site was very harmonious. There were bikers, families and older seniors and everyone was very friendly with each other. It was definitely not the last time we stayed here, we would be happy to stay again any time and would recommend it.Automatiskt översatt.
- Daniela & Dominic H.June 2013Beautiful Bernese city campsite in a very good location directly on the Aare. Supermarket and public transport approx. 10 minutes' walk away. Cycle path directly into the city center or along the Aare. The outdoor pool is approx. 15 minutes' walk away. The sanitary facilities were new and very well maintained,... the staff was always friendly and helpful. However, you have to pay for hot water in the showers, due to the proximity to the Aare and possible external showers. Will definitely come back again.Automatiskt översatt.
- a. m.May 2013City center within walking distance, very friendly staff, at the time of visit there was little going on due to the weather, therefore very quiet on the square, located on the river, no traffic noise, would be happy to come againAutomatiskt översatt.
- Uli R.May 2013Located directly on the Aare, very quiet, clean. Showers draughty, not heatable, but clean, 3 minutes 1.50 SFr, can be turned off. Streetcar can be reached in 10 minutes, but day ticket expensive at 11.80 SFr. 30 min. walk to Bern. Worth seeing old town and museums, especially Paul Klee. For 2 persons... with electricity and state tax (?) in NS 30.- SFR is reasonable. COOP at the streetcar stop, well stocked. Can of beer for a fabulous 50 centimes! Restaurant available on site.Automatiskt översatt.
- Андрей Д.August 2012The cost for 2 people with tent and car is CHF 25.50. There is a restaurant, standard sanitary block, kitchen block. Near the river, sports complex. Near the city center. As a disadvantage - you can not put a car next to the tent (there is a parking lot outside the camping).Automatiskt översatt.
- Iris G.August 2012Nice campsite with a relaxed atmosphere in a nice location on the Aare, 20 min walk from the center of Bern. The sanitary facilities are all new and in fine order, friendly staff and self-selecting pitches.Automatiskt översatt.
- Walter T.August 2012The reception was professional by the city staff, who ensure the cleanliness of the entire Eichholz area. This is not so easy because this park is a public recreation area of Bern and in summer it is used by young people for barbecue parties. Swimming in the Aare is unique and the river entrance at the... campsite is particularly suitable. We recommend this place for a visit to the city and for swimming in the Aare. Take a buoyancy aid or rubber dinghy with you.Automatiskt översatt.
