- C. M.August 2019PositivaPeace and quiet, great beach.NegativaClear drinking water must be purchased. The well water is harmless to health, but does not taste good.A beautiful place to slow downSimple, functioning sanitary facilities, everything very clean. Everything you need to relax is available, including the sound of the sea. It wasn't noisy at the weekend either, despite several groups of tents. The only thing that was a bit annoying was the four km gravel road. But that's often the case here in the Baltic States.Automatiskt översatt.
- Sandra B.July 2019Positiva- Nature and tranquillity - Large, empty beach - lovingly designedA beautiful stayWe (family with 3 children) had a pleasant and beautiful stay at the campsite. Once you get used to the unpaved access road to the site, you can spend a relaxing time there surrounded by peace and nature. The dry toilets were among the cleanest during our trip, only the showers should be included in the price of the pitch (costs €1). A beautiful beach rounds off the lovingly furnished campsite.Automatiskt översatt.
- Stephan B.July 2019PositivaPeace and quiet and lovingly maintained groundsNegativaSometimes a short wait at the toiletsLovable and lots of natureFor us (caravan owners) this campsite was one of the most pleasant we have ever been to. Such peace, friendliness and cleanliness. Who cares about plum loos when they are spotlessly clean and odorless. The 2 showers are spotlessly clean and pleasant. And for tent campers there are plenty of seating options and a covered sheltered area with Wi-Fi!Automatiskt översatt.
- Anja N.July 2019PositivaLocationNegativaNumber of sanitary facilitiesDream beachIn just a few years, this insider's tip has developed into a structured place that is overcrowded, at least at weekends. Nevertheless, a super nice welcome and an unbeatable location by the sea. 4 toilets and two showers with advance booking for a full pitch are simply not enough. The price is now €18 for 2 people with a camper plus €3 electricity and €1 per person for showering. Each additional person costs €4.Automatiskt översatt.
- Uwe S.August 2018PositivaBeautifully situated directly on the Baltic SeaNegativaPoor sanitary infrastructureVery nice place, but....The site is beautifully situated directly on the Baltic Sea and you can see that the owners go to great lengths. Unfortunately, the infrastructure is completely inadequate. There is one shower (wooden cubicle 1 euro) and one toilet for men and one for women. When we were here, the place was full and... the queue in front of the toilets was long - actually unacceptable. Disposal facilities for toilet camper/WoMo not available. Access only possible via a long, unpaved and very dusty road.Automatiskt översatt.Besvaras från Camping Rugumi August 6, 2018Dear Mr. S.
We have been running this campsite for 2 years now and have not heard any criticism of the sanitary facilities from our numerous guests. On the contrary, many campers appreciate the originality and the "naturalness" of our campsite, especially the self-built sanitary facilities made of wood.... Many campers visit us because they finally find an alternative to concrete, steel and tiles.
We would therefore like to take this opportunity to say to all potential camping guests: If you don't want to do without the usual home comforts even on vacation, you would be better off on an ADAC 5-star campsite. If, on the other hand, you are looking for unspoiled nature, peace and quiet and one of the most beautiful beaches on the Baltic Sea, you should come to Rugumi.
As far as the aforementioned bottlenecks at the toilets are concerned, we never noticed any queues. I personally saw a maximum of one person queuing. But theoretically, on a fully booked weekend, it could get tighter if someone is in the toilet for a long time. But in this case, there is a third toilet, which is located at the caravan field.
There have rarely been any bottlenecks when using our spacious showers, even when the campsite is full, because the guests make arrangements and distribute themselves well over the times.
And one more note: If you complain about unpaved roads and a lack of sewage systems, you'd better not go to Latvia.Automatiskt översatt. - Ines L.July 2018PositivaPeace and quiet, close to the white beachNegativafor us noHighly recommended for those seeking peace and quietWe stayed at this beautiful, quiet site for 10 days in July 2018. It's right on the beach and is designed like a large garden and there's a meadow for the camper vans. We were even allowed to pick berries. Everything is designed with a lot of love. It's the details that make you happy, e.g. the many... seating areas, the 4 loungers on the dune, the hammocks, the well thought-out shower and much more. The dry toilets were cleaned daily so that there was no unpleasant odor even in the heat. At our time there was no drinking water, but we knew that beforehand. We really liked the peace and quiet on the site. We felt very comfortable. I would like to emphasize the friendliness of the owner. He has an open ear for everyone and also speaks good German. In our conversations with him, we got to know the country better and understood the people. Due to our illness and the broken pick-up, we were unable to explore the area as we would have liked. So we spent the days reading and swimming (unfortunately the Baltic Sea was quite cold - but I swam anyway) at the great campsite. The gravel roads to the campsite take some getting used to. You could go shopping about 13km away, where you could find everything you needed.Automatiskt översatt.
- Evelyn M.June 2018PositivaVery cozy and totally relaxing.Relaxation and peaceA beautiful site that looks like a large garden. There is a green area for camper vans and we were allowed to park under the trees with our roof tent. Lots of scattered seating, fire pits and hammocks... Paradise! With direct access to the white beach and the sea. There are two chemical toilets, but they are very clean, and a wonderful shower house. Everything is designed with great attention to detail.Automatiskt översatt.
- Mark und Edith B.August 2017PositivaAbsolute peace and seclusion and yet still connected to "civilization". Deserted beach. Garden area as an oasis of well-being.NegativaActually none for us. There will be a pavilion for rainy days in 2018. On dry days, the unpaved roads to Rugumi are dusty.Central starting point for sightseeingRugumi is ideally suited as a central starting point for sightseeing day trips to many destinations in western Latvia all the way down to Lithuania, which is not that far away. We made extensive use of days with not so good weather for these excursions, on the nice days we loved to spend time in Rugumi, on the beach or in the beautiful garden.Automatiskt översatt.
- Volker und Angelika H.August 2017PositivaNature, tranquillity and originalityNegativanoneA gem on the coastA gem on the coast, built and run with great attention to detail. We were and still are thrilled. The peace, the nature and the wonderful sound of the sea are relaxing and we can only recommend it. You can see the pioneering spirit behind the whole project - to offer something special - and only those... who appreciate this will feel completely at home here. Thank you for this wonderful time and we wish you continued success. Perhaps we will be back again...Automatiskt översatt.
- Audrius P.July 2017Relaxing by the seaside :)We stayed at this campsite last summer. Amazing location. Right by the sea. Level pitch for tent. Shower. What more does a tourist need :) Very good impression of the hosts: warm, friendly and helpful people. I recommend. By the way, next year they plan to have a few more houses for those who need more amenities.Automatiskt översatt.
- Aiva A.July 2017PositivaBeautiful garden right by the sea, peace and relaxationNegativaNoneAll-round successful campsiteThank you very much for the wonderful time at your campsite! We really enjoyed staying with you despite the thunderstorm we brought with us :-) We will be back next year :-)Automatiskt översatt.
- Marcus R.July 2017PositivaThis wonderful place offered us everything we needed to feel good (sun, beach, peace, shade, warmth)!NegativaNone (if dry toilets and a lack of washing machines are not a problem on vacation). Drinking water was available in 5 liter bottles in the next store. In a tent near the Baltic Sea!We spent a week at the Rugumi campsite in July 2017. We felt at home in the midst of the still-used beds with fresh salads and spices as well as bushes with ripe currants. The campsite is located away from major roads, which is good for the tranquillity and very informal atmosphere. The sandy beach was... less than 100 m from the tent and guaranteed a quick morning swim and fantastic sunsets. Thanks to the proximity of the beach, our children were kept busy and we were still close by reading in the many hammocks. In the next village, 4 km away on a sandy road, a grocery store could satisfy almost all our needs. The hosts Evita and Christian gave us a warm welcome and were helpful with any questions we had.Automatiskt översatt.
- Ditmar M.July 2017PositivaThe hospitality practiced there.NegativaNoneOTTOI spent two and a half weeks at this campsite and I can say that I felt completely at home. This site is very lovingly laid out with flower, vegetable and herb beds, large trees provide shade and the Baltic Sea is not far away either. (max. 50m) The family who run this campsite are very friendly and helpful. My conclusion: Simply great, I will definitely go again.Automatiskt översatt.
- Willi und Christin w.July 2017PositivaPure nature right on the fantastic beach!Very friendly and new campsite right by the seaWe spent two nights in July at the campsite, where foxes and storks literally say goodnight to each other. Super friendly operators, right on the beach, use of the vegetable garden is included in the price - great! The best shower of our entire tour around the Baltic Sea! Berti and Lily say hello to Maxi & Co!Automatiskt översatt.
- Peter B.July 2017PositivaClose to the sea with a deserted beach, large well-kept garden, peace and seclusion. Sports, campfire, dining table by the sea...NegativaNo shopping center, disco or other. spectacle ;)Exceptionally beautiful campsiteWe actually only wanted to stay one night on the transit. It turned out to be the best stay of our tour through the Baltic States. Here we felt connected to nature and were able to relax for a week. In this region of Latvia in particular, there are also many great excursion destinations and sights, all not far from Rugumi. We particularly liked Liepaja (20 km to the south) with its great beach life and live music.Automatiskt översatt.
- Abigail-Angelina B.July 2017Peace and quiet close to the seaVery nice hosts, generous space for WOMO or tent, wonderful organic garden.Automatiskt översatt.
- André S.July 2017PositivaDirectly on the beach, clean, quiet, sun and shade spots for tents available, park-like groundsNegativaNot so easy to find, but the GPS coordinates given fitPeace and quiet right by the seaVery quiet campsite with direct access to the beach and very friendly hosts. The sanitary facilities are brand new and we finally had a quiet night after several campsites in the Baltic States. The campsite is laid out with great care like a park or garden and not just a mowed meadow.Automatiskt översatt.
- Connie W.July 2017PositivaThe location right by the sea, a large park-like garden, friendly campsite operators, clean sanitary facilities.NegativaSomehow not. There is only peace and quiet here. But there are plenty of sights nearby. Tip: beach party in Liepaja!Another insider tip! Pure wellness and relaxation. This campsite has just opened and is (still) a real insider tip. We were passing through with the family, but stayed for a week, it was so beautiful. It's hard to describe, but this place is really something special and offers much more than just a campsite. These days were the highlight of our tour of Latvia.Automatiskt översatt.
