Bread rolls are pre-ordered and picked up in the morning. An absolute highlight is the beautiful lake with shady spots, pedal boating and much more. A great pity.Absolute dog banWe spent 14 days at the campsite on Lake Breitenau this summer. Great childhood memories from 20 years ago inspired my family and we booked our annual vacation there. Unfortunately, nothing was like it used to be.... There was an absolute ban on dogs almost halfway around the lake. It was impossible... for us to lie by the lake with the dog and at the same time supervise the child playing in the water. It was also strictly forbidden to walk around the lake as part of the lakeside path was not even allowed to be walked on by a dog. I remember that as children we used to take our dogs for a walk around the lake every evening. That is now absolutely forbidden. What's more, the campsite staff also give you a pretty stupid telling off if you lie down with your dog on a lead in the meadow, which was not affected by the dog ban. Here the left hand probably doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
Reading the signs would have helped. Despite the fact that we found our place very nice and felt comfortable, we won't be coming back. To dispose of the caravan toilet, I then walked many meters further down to the next "chemical... toilet". But the door was locked there too (with no indication of a defect!).

Reservation worked despite 3 nights minimum reservation time. We received a friendly welcome, the complex is very large and very clean. The whole thing left a well-kept impression. The sanitary facilities in our area were of the absolute finest, there was... nothing to complain about. The area is very beautiful and when the lake is full again and the weather is warm we will come back. Unfortunately the Greek restaurant was closed but there are other restaurants within a 20 minute walk.

At the time of booking in May, the homepage only showed quite far down in the scroll text that the lake no longer had water. Even after booking, this was not pointed out.
Apparently there have been several complaints in the meantime, which is why information... about the state of the lake is now displayed right at the top of the homepage.
This is the only reason we noticed shortly before the start of our vacation that the lake no longer had any water.
Cancellations for this reason will not be accepted by the campsite. A free rebooking or vouchers were offered.
Unfortunately, the staff at reception were quite unfriendly on the phone about this. As swimming is not due to be possible again until 2023, such vouchers or rebookings must also be postponed for at least 2 years if you want to go swimming. It is said that you pay for the campsite and not for the lake, although admission to the lake is included in the fees. In addition, it has been known since the end of 2020 that the water in the lake was to be drained and this could have been known.
Campers are being asked to do in-depth research on the locations in order to receive bookings / money.
Here, flimsy reasons are given to obtain income in Corona times in every conceivable way.
