Jannin H.January 2021PositivaCozy campsite with a super friendly tenant...NegativaThere were no negative points for us!Surprisingly great family vacationWe were spontaneously looking for something for our ski vacation and ended up at Nicole's Gion rental accommodation by chance. She got in touch with us very quickly and easily and we booked the winter camping adventure for us as a family with 2 children and a dog.
When we moved into the newly renovated... and very comfortably furnished wooden accommodation, we were surprised by the amount of storage space. We immediately felt at home. The sanitary facilities were always clean and well heated. Nicole even offered to dry our ski equipment there. She is always available and makes everything possible. The contact option via WhatsApp is also very practical. We really appreciated the bread roll service with fresh treats from the bakery. During the day, Nicole also offers small treats right next to the cross-country ski slope. Coronaconform of course at any time.
We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the family atmosphere.

Everything is very natural. The infrastructure is very spartan, i.e. it can be a good 100m to the nearest electricity box! Extension cable 60m can be borrowed. The number of toilets and shower cubicles... is extremely unsatisfactory, 2 each for men and women - and that with around 100 guests. It can also happen that the hot water boiler runs out in the evening. So don't be late for a shower! The friendly atmosphere of the tenants and the gastronomy should be mentioned very positively - even if it is very expensive for non-Swiss people - many leisure activities in the area. With the guest card 4 SFR per day you can travel by bus, train and cable car for free. The square is organized by an association founded by citizens of Sedrun. It is currently run by a family of tenants from the village. The square has no shade and is quite undulating. The association built a rental hut in 2019, with more... to follow. There are a few permanent campers. However, by far the largest pitch is unparcelled. There are few power points and they are only located at the edge of the meadow. So you have to be careful where you pitch your tent. Electricity is charged at a flat rate. Due to the spaciousness of the site, claustrophobic fits are unlikely to occur. Free WiFi is only available in the restaurant, which is also the reception and has no designated opening hours. If necessary, it is sometimes open until 9 pm. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available. Dishwashing facilities are outside the building. The sanitary facilities are poorly thought out and undersized. For men, 2 washbasins and 2 toilets, which are shared with the guests of the restaurant, and 2 showers are not enough. You can shop in Sedrun in 2 food markets. At some houses in Rueras you can buy local products such as cheese, sausage and eggs from outdoor refrigerators. The local cross-country ski trail leads directly across the campsite. For winter camping, it is important to observe the avalanche risk classification. There is absolutely no danger of avalanches on the large meadow next to the building. However, on the lower terrace directly on the Rhine or the older part of the site up the valley, avalanches are said to have already spilled over the Rhine. The young Rhine here is a roaring torrent with a correspondingly loud noise level. Oropax is recommended for campers. I would like to comment on the negative points. We are optimizing a lot of things. :)
We have doubled the number of power connections since the summer. An additional toilet trailer supplements the sanitary facilities... in summer. Further facilities are planned. Always bearing in mind that we are a nature campsite.
Our winter camping is officially open from this winter. The area in the danger zone will of course no longer be used.

Electricity points far apart (take a long power cable with you). Quick walk to the village and a little longer to the train station. Ideal place for hikers, peace seekers, mountain and winter sports enthusiasts. There is a golf course nearby. Everything a camper needs is available on the site and in clean condition.
