- J. M.July 2020Olumlu yanlarıLocation on the beach - good pool area. - Very nice, German-speaking staff. - Shady spotsOlumsuz yanlarıSanitary area already older, toilets very narrow, not too clean, no hand basins, no soap, but disinfectant - Very sandy pitches. - Animation quite loud, sometimes also from the neighboring pitchNice, but lively place, a bit outdatedVery nice welcome with detailed briefing, we were even allowed to view our pitch and decide if we wanted it! Good baguette service, swimming pool fine. Sanitary facilities older and not always well cleaned. -
Beach is narrow and very seaweedy, we didn't want to swim in it, but great sunsets! -
...
Lots of Germans on the site, lots of children overall, rather lively, animation from the site and neighboring site sometimes very loud for a long time. -
Good location for excursions on the island, but always a lot of traffic jams if you want to go somewhere (peak travel time).
Pitch very sandy, but shady spots possibleOtomatik olarak çevrildi. - Lars B.September 2018Olumlu yanlarıbeautiful location, very nice reception, they speak perfect GermanBeautiful place by the seaPlenty of space in the low season, about 100m to the sea, fresh croissants for breakfast in the store, sanitary facilities partly closed/under construction, access through the French province/villages a bit bumpy and sometimes narrow. Very nice people at reception, shady pitches but still sunny, we liked... it very much except for the limited sanitary facilities. Great starting point for exploring the island, best by bike, only a few kilometers to the (real!!!) fishing port of La Cotinière with a great fresh fish market, supermarket in Saint Piere d`OleronOtomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Alexandra K.August 2017Olumlu yanlarıFamiliar, good mix of unobtrusive entertainment and relaxation, clean, beautiful trees, only separated from the sea by dunesOlumsuz yanlarıNo soap or hand dryers at the toilets, insufficient water pressure in the showers at peak timesFamiliar and warmly managed placeWe've been there 3 times in 5 years and are going again this year. The campsite is run by a French/German family, there is no language barrier and the staff there are warm and helpful. In the high season there are mainly French people, plus Germans, Dutch and Brits. We like the fact that we feel like... we are in France and not in a German or Dutch camper enclave. Nevertheless, our now 10-year-old son has always found German playmates his own age and we parents have occasionally chatted over a glass of wine in the evening. In the area of the very good indoor and outdoor restaurant there are always events taking place in July/August, which sometimes get louder, but at midnight it is totally quiet and without events even earlier - there is no roaring or music from tired campers or Ballermannt hustle and bustle. The sanitary facilities could do with some improvement, but they are really okay. The adjacent beach is only really good for swimming at high tide, but there are so many wonderful beaches on the island that you should try them all out and the beautiful pool with slides can pass the time at low tide. There is a lot on offer for children, the entertainers should speak more German. The store and snack bar on the campsite are good and you don't always have to go to the supermarkets. We simply like the positive, unobtrusive, informal atmosphere on the campsite with French charm and rather German organization ;-)Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Alfred P.September 2015Olumlu yanlarıBeautiful cycle paths.Olumsuz yanlarıLots of algae and sharp stones in the sea.Centrally located squareThe campsite is located roughly in the center of Oleron and is therefore an ideal starting point for exploring the island. The site is clean and quiet. Nice swimming pool and playground. Nice bike tours can be made from the campsite. Oleron has a well-developed network of cycle paths. The sea around... the island is less suitable for swimming. There are many sharp rocks offshore. Swimming is therefore only possible at high tide. The beach right next to the campsite looks dirty due to lots of seaweed.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Hubert H.September 2015Simply TOPIt's beautiful, quiet and feels like a family. It's fun to spend your vacation at Le Suroit. The site is well maintained, the walk to the beach is not far and the pitches are wonderfully shaded. A camping park instead of a campsite - I would say. A big thank you to the operators for - once again - wonderfully relaxing vacation days, which our two Bernese Mountain Dog girls also enjoyed immensely.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Eva S.July 2014Olumlu yanlarıclean, good infrastructure, close to the beach, quietOlumsuz yanlarıactually noneThe most beautiful place we have seenWe stayed at this campsite for two weeks in July and will probably go back next year. The beach right next to the campsite is not the most beautiful on the west coast of the island - lots of seaweed, especially when it's not high tide - but about two kilometers further north is the beautiful Plage des... Bonnes, which we just drove to. You can also drive all the way south to the Grand Plage, but in our opinion it's not necessarily worth the long journey, as the water recedes a long way at low tide. The campsite itself looks a little unkempt at first, as many dead branches and trees have not been removed, making the vegetation look quite scruffy. But maybe I'm too spoiled from England. Or too critical... My husband didn't notice. The pitches vary in size and shade - we've picked out a few favorites for next year. There is a great pool and entertainment for the children, but our children didn't make use of it. There is an evening program on several evenings, but it's not too loud or disturbing. We were at the very back of the campsite in the Pluton area, so you don't notice the hustle and bustle at the front of the restaurant, the pool and the playground. We asked the fluent German-speaking lady (someone from Germany must have married into the owner's family or something like that) on the phone when we made our reservation for a quiet pitch and she gave us one. The sanitary facilities are clean, there are individual washing cubicles and you have to get used to the fact that you always have to carry your toilet paper across the pitch in France. In the evenings, there were sometimes bottlenecks in the showers, but you can plan accordingly. We looked at a few other campsites on the island after we realized that we would probably want to return to this corner of the Atlantic coast next year because of the fantastic weather. Many of them are either much bigger, which we don't like, and/or are now mainly used for renting out mobile homes, so there's no real campsite to speak of. The smaller ones, which would be fine for us parents, don't offer as much for the children, but are an alternative for couples who want some peace and quiet. So next year it will be Le Suroit again.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Alexander B.August 2013Olumlu yanlarıDogs allowed, friendly, beautiful locationOlumsuz yanlarıWind, road traffic (traffic jam), beach only partially suitable for swimmingnice only a bit windyArrival: The staff was very friendly and German speaking, the pitch for our tent (tent trailer) was not passable and therefore not suitable. However, a mobile home was offered until a replacement pitch was found. The place is nicely shaded, is located directly on the beach, which was full of smelly seaweed,... the tides do not make swimming any easier, whereby the rocks come out where you can look for shells. The place is hardly lit at night. The pool area is very nice, up on the slide it is very cold because of the wind, the pool can be covered and is therefore protected from the wind. Sanitary facilities not very clean and little water when several people shower. Showers are also closed from 10 pm! Nice children's entertainment but not in German, foam party is a lot of fun. The island is very nice to cycle on, it's nice and small. You should only drive early or between 12 and 14 o'clock, otherwise you will be stuck in a traffic jam! The nicest place by far is Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron with a pedestrian zone for strolling, otherwise only villages with market halls and churches. All in all, however, we would recommend the place at any time.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Claudia P.August 2013Nice campsite with direct access to the beach. Very friendly German staff. Great for cycling tours across the island! Be sure to try the red wine and the Ile d'Oleron aperitif - buy directly from the winegrower!Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Claus F.August 2013Very nice campground ! Very nice staff! For the size very quiet place. Unfortunately, the beach in front of the campsite was very algae-infested (depending on the weather very strong odor, but only directly on the beach) and without a car (we were with the motorhome) there are few possibilities to go out in the evening and shopping is problematic. A free shuttle bus runs to various villages and beaches during the day.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Karl-Heinz K.May 2012Beautifully situated site directly behind the dunes. Friendly staff both at reception and in the restaurant. Spacious pitches, mostly in partial shade; access partly made difficult by trees. Heated indoor and outdoor pool. Nice restaurant with typical local dishes at reasonable prices. Sanitary facilities... not only clean, but also partly heated. The beach is less suitable for swimming due to algae, but there are spacious, clean sandy beaches nearby. Dog-friendly operators.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- Daniel G.July 2011A very scenic site right on the Atlantic. The pitches are large and often semi-shaded under trees. German is spoken on the site, as the owner is a German who married into the campsite family.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- U. S.June 2011We stayed at this very nice campsite right on the Atlantic coast in June 2011. There are pitches of various sizes for campers and tents as well as mobile homes. Most of them are in a shady, wind-protected grove. The staff and the German-speaking management are extremely friendly and helpful. The sanitary... facilities are also originally designed, the double wash cubicles are huge with plenty of storage space and everything was always clean and tidy during our stay. There is also a pool area, but we didn't test it. Instead, we highly recommend the campsite restaurant "Le Coq" with super tasty fish dishes and super friendly service. There's lots to explore in the surrounding area - preferably by bike. The paths are flat and there is little traffic, and there is also a very well-developed network of cycle paths. The beach is great for walks (direct access from the campsite), but unfortunately it is less suitable for swimming due to the rocks and abundant seaweed.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- RMF R.July 2010Were in France for the first time this year for a camping vacation and had some reservations about the sanitary facilities, but here without justification. Simple, not the newest but clean sanitary facilities. Nice site under friendly, German-speaking management. Pitches large, mostly shady, swimming... pool great. Quiet except for 2 evenings a week (solo entertainer music until midnight) for the main season. Natural beach empty. No waves during the time we were there but also no water in places. Great for our dog. Supermarket on the site didn't deserve the name. Food and drink expensive.....Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
- werner l.July 2010Very nice place under friendly, German-speaking management. Pitches large, mostly shady. Clean sanitary facilities. Very nice swimming pool. Except for one evening a week (solo entertainer music until 24:00h) for the high season quiet place. We will be back.Otomatik olarak çevrildi.
