Doreen K.September 2024Pozitivno-glorious location by the lake with many paths in the countryside - close to the Obermaintherme - Aqua Riese swimming pool - inexpensive food in the bistro - quietNegativno-The lady at the reception, who was on duty on September 16 in the evening and on September 20 in the morning, was very unfriendly. - We were NOT informed on arrival that " closing time" from 12-14 o'clock and from 22 o'clock means that you can no longer get through the barrier despite the chip. One of us slept in the car. One evening we didn't get back until after 10pm and couldn't get in, so one of us had to spend the night outside the campsite. Even once at lunchtime we couldn't get out - we had to wait until 2pm! We don't know anything like that! On other campsites you can drive through with the chip at any time! -Pitch for campers with awning and car quite smallPositive and negative sides-see pros and cons above.

It is only used by campsite guests. It's so impractical! Don't forget your chip! We spend a lot of time on campsites, so we have NEVER experienced this! There was a man who was quite old and no longer healthy, had forgotten his chip and was standing in front of locked doors, I'm not healthy at the moment either, my chip wasn't working properly and I had a lot of trouble getting the door open! A little boy was standing in front of the locked door and had to go in so urgently and couldn't get in. Neighbors at the campsite have a son with a disability, he couldn't cope with the chip either, the mother had to go with him every time! This is really not a good situation, please please please get rid of it! The toilet door should always be open! Thank you in advance. F. Plots very dilapidated, mud, partly unkempt lawn mixed with gravel, leaves from fall 22 not yet disposed of, tree and hedge trimming very neglected, water taps too far away, electricity connections new, but without meters for a "hefty" electricity... flat rate of € 7. In total for 2 people with caravan, car and tourist tax 32 € per day and night. Sanitary also not clean, toilet bowls damaged..... and due to the dirty paths a lot of dirt and grime in both sanitary buildings. In addition to the dirt, it also smells strongly of urine. Reception staff especially Mr. Halbhuber aloof and arrogant. All in all, camping to get used to.
The only advantage is the proximity to the thermal baths about 8 minutes walk through the spa gardens.
But this advantage does not outweigh the shortcomings mentioned above. After 3 days we went to the CP Maincamping Lichtenfels. About 6 km from Bad STE. Friendly welcome, perfect briefing, very clean sanitary facilities and clean pitches and an absolutely good price/performance ratio.
Disadvantage: you have to take the 6 km to the thermal baths by car or e-bike. Bicycle paths very well developed. We felt at home here and would love to come back.

Reservation and check-in was unproblematic, the staff very friendly. There is a large parking lot in front of the site where you can leave your stuff to check in in peace.
Some of the pitches are uneven (long distances for the crank supports and height difference for the WW door)... and the surface is stony and unkempt. Fresh water was only available at one sanitary building, which was also where the gray water and chemical toilets were emptied. This meant very long distances. The normal taps distributed around the site were all out of order.
The sanitary facilities were clean, but with full occupancy they were probably too small. They have been renovated, but the construction is borderline.
You can order bread rolls in advance, but that's all the supplies. There is a snack bar at the indoor pool, which is mainly frequented by the indoor pool users. I found four euros for a bottle of beer a bit outrageous, but otherwise the prices were ok. For all other errands you have to go to the local supermarkets.
The short walk to the spa gardens is nice and there is also an illuminated path into town in the evening.

We stayed at the campsite for a week at Easter, the reception at the leisure pool was friendly and quick.
A question about changing pitches was initially problematic (pitches were all booked over Easter), but then we were helped relatively quickly and easily, and surprisingly at least... 60% of the pitches were free over Easter.
The pitches are relatively uneven, with very little turf, as there is a high proportion of gravel. They were also very unkempt. There were small old twigs, leaves, conifer tops etc. lying around everywhere and obviously not from the last few days or weeks. There are several ditches or construction sites from incompletely completed clearing of conifers or hedges.
The two sanitary buildings are relatively new (or renovated) and have always been clean, but probably not enough when fully occupied.
However, you can tell that the site is not owner-managed, but is only looked after by employees.
They are always friendly, do their job well, but don't see any work or problems outside their area of responsibility. For example, during our stay there was an empty bottle of schnapps on the steps of the old sanitary container and the destroyed lid of a fire extinguisher protective housing was lying on a storage area. Several employees checked the area during this time, but either didn't notice this or worse, noticed it but didn't fix it.
Another problem (which unfortunately exists on many pitches) is that fresh water is relatively easily accessible but there is only a gray water sink a long way away. Unfortunately, this means that many campers do not dispose of their gray water properly. As so often, I had the feeling that I was the only one taking my gray water away.
Our conclusion:
You can visit the site, the most important thing = clean sanitary facilities = is available. The sanitary facilities are very outdated, partly broken toilet seats and no pressure to flush. The showers are very outdated and cramped, only sporadically... clean and the smell is not always pleasant. If you're not an early riser on vacation, you're out of luck with fresh bread rolls, as the baker comes at 7:15am. Otherwise there is nothing on site, the bistro in the Aquariesen swimming pool is only open during swimming pool hours and is fried food. So cook for yourself or go into town or eat something in the thermal baths. TV reception is only possible if you don't stand on the seats facing the ponds or bathing lakes, as the trees cover everything and there is no clearing. It's quite another thing to look at. Also, don't forget your wellies in the fall, as the paths are sometimes very muddy. Conclusion If we didn't like the spa so much and the price was still reasonably acceptable for the condition, we wouldn't come back. Unfortunately, the site only had one easily accessible fresh water point. There were only 2 disposal points for... waste water on the entire site. This had to be emptied in the same place as the chemical toilet. A disaster for a small person. Disposal is only possible via several steps and at a height of approx. 1 meter. You have to lift a waste water tank weighing approx. 20 kg to be able to empty it. You are not allowed to empty waste water at the fresh water points, as there is only a drainage shaft! The showers are dilapidated and not clean. They also smell of sewage. A bread trolley comes every morning at 7:30 am. So nothing for late risers! The barrier has to be opened with a key from the right-hand side. This means that the passenger has to get out of the car to open the barrier. Overall, it seems as if the focus is on the many permanent campers. The care of the short-term pitches is neglected. We had to take a pitch that was full of stinging nettles. The lady at reception was very taciturn, the cleaning staff for the sanitary facilities either have poor eyesight or are listless or powerless.... We were guests there from 01.10.-04.10. 2016, so at a time when there is not so much going on. The location is perfect, through the spa park to the spa is about 10 minutes walk if you take your time. The nearby (free access) bathing lake, under the supervision of the water guard, was also appealing. Coburg and Bamberg are not far away, Banz Abbey and 14 saints are also worth seeing. The site is dominated by wonderfully... unrelaxed permanent campers who are constantly nagging, which was only amusing in the end. The free pitches are spread out at the rear edge, as the permanent campers (DC) dominate the middle. It was a bit difficult to see the boundaries of the pitch. A lot of mosquitoes, as the edge of the fence was very unkempt. Also misused as barbecue charcoal garbage. The newer sanitary facility at the DC (a little further away) was fine, clean and well maintained, but here you had to have a key, we had one, but still a bit difficult with 3 people. The sanitary facilities for the guests defy description. Should actually be torn down. WLAN is offered in the brochure, when asked I was told to stand in front of the swimming pool, they had free WIFI... Barrier is closed at midday, was opened once if necessary after several vehicles were parked in front of it at over 30 degrees. This immediately led to discussions among the DC. In the morning (about 07.30h) the bread roll truck comes with loud honking in front of the facility. By then at the latest, the night is over. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the end by the (reasonable) price. 4 nights for 1 adult and 2 children with car and tent, a good 70 euros.Automatski prevedeno.
