- Klaus-Peter A.August 2023PozitivnoLocation on the cliffs, friendly staffNegativnoSanitary facilities expandableBeautiful location with a view of the seaA beautiful site at the far end of Scotland. We had a pitch right on the cliffs with a direct view of the sea (probably due to early booking).
There is a pizza bakery on the site (check opening times) and a kind of snack bar. The only other restaurant (Smoo Cave Hotel) is a 20-minute walk away (but... worth the walk).
Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities are somewhat overwhelmed by the rush of tourists in high season. You sometimes have to wait and the cleanliness could be better. Apart from that, a little heating at 16 degrees would also be nice. This may be complaining on a high level, but on the one hand we have had better experiences at other campsites and the price was high enough to expect something.
In the surrounding area, we recommend a trip to Smoo Cave, a 10-15 minute walk from the campsite. Very pretty and less frequented by bus tours, especially in the evening. The cave is directly on the way to the Smoo Cave Hotel with restaurant mentioned above.Automatski prevedeno. - Andreas H.July 2022PozitivnoGreat location by the sea.NegativnoVery crowded as it is on the main route.Campsite in wild surroundingsCampsite in wild surroundings. - Gitta P.September 2019PozitivnoClose to town, excursion destinations, beautiful new sanitary building.NegativnononeGreat location at the top end of ScotlandI particularly liked the site, especially the fantastic location. The sanitary facilities were generally clean, although some were a little older. However, there is also a new sanitary building with 2 large bathrooms. There is a shower and a washbasin as well as a separate toilet. There is also a washbasin... in the general shower cubicles. From here you can explore the countryside on foot and take a trip to Smoo cave or the artists' village of Balnakeil, for example. The site also offers a breakfast service for campers and others!Automatski prevedeno.
- Heiko G.September 2018PozitivnoGreat location on a beautiful bay.NegativnoNice places get around...Simply beautiful...Our favorite place and recurring highlight of several trips to Scotland, even if it has changed over the last 35 years from an insider tip to a very busy place even in the low season, especially when a Dutch camping club with 30 caravans has reserved the best places... But the bay is simply beautiful,... surpassed only by Balnkeil Bay, which can be reached on foot (on the way back, have a hot chocolate in Balnkeil Craft Village at cacoa montain! unsurpassed!!!). In general, you can go on a hiking tour here in breathtaking LANDSCAPE. New, very good unisex shower house, the sanitary buildings are old but well maintained. There is a store outside the campsite, but it can be reached in a few minutes. The pub is a great place to go in the evening.Automatski prevedeno.
- Susann S.September 2017PozitivnoCordiality of the operators, dream bay, infrastructureNegativnoShower houseFriendly place on a dream bay with cult characterSimple place, very nice reception, uncomplicated check-in. Top infrastructure: supermarket, petrol station, nice pub with very good food, free WiFi and excellent value for money, tourist information, viewpoint for whale, seal and ship watching, start of various hiking trails, dream beach with decorative... rocks, everything is no more than a 3-minute walk from the site. The sanitary huts don't win any beauty awards, they look off-putting from the outside, but are clean inside and work well. The wind rattled the caravan all night, but no rain (end of September!), one evening and the following morning you could even see several Orkney Islands clearly. Would come again anytime - sigh !Automatski prevedeno.
- Jürg B.June 2017PozitivnoThe great location makes up for bad weatherUNIQUE LOCATION ON THE ROCKY COASTWe were already on this site in June 2011 and experienced an extremely violent storm in fine weather. Even the campsite operator had reservations at the time... And we were unlucky this time too, with strong winds again and, above all, heavy rainfall, which is a shame because it's only worth staying... here for several days in good weather. The site has a really unique location on the cliffs. Very friendly and helpful owners, easy registration. If the reception is not occupied, simply look for a free pitch, set up and report to the office later. Reserved pitches are marked on the door and some are also marked with yellow signs next to the pitch number. The sanit. The sanitary facilities have been partially renovated and cleaned since our last stay, the infrastructure has also been improved and there are now more electrical connections. The camper's kitchen is still in its old state, but further work is underway. The Sango Sands restaurant belonging to the campsite serves good food with friendly service; reservations are recommended. Supermarket and petrol station approx. 250 m away, tourist information office approx. 600 m away. Here you will find lots of information and details about events, guided tours etc. A visit to the cave with a boat tour or an excursion to Cape Warth by boat, bus and approx. 30 min. hike is worthwhile. However, the tours can only take place in good weather.Automatski prevedeno.

- Ritva B.July 2016PozitivnoBeach and locationNegativnoSanitary facilitiesSuper location, with viewing platformThe site offers a great view as it is located directly on the cliffs. It offers both a viewing platform and quick access to the beach. There are many large pitches, but too few with electricity. It pays to be quick if you haven't booked! The sanitary facilities are small and undersized in high season. You have to put up with queues for showers at peak times. Very friendly staff!Automatski prevedeno.
- Christel M.June 2016PozitivnoSimple and clean sanitary facilities, shopping facilities nearby, fantastic view and starting point for many excursion destinations.NegativnoWe have not found any.Camping in the front row....grandios!We simply loved the campsite. We made a quick reservation from the road and there was a sign at reception with our pitch number. The pitches are narrow, but the view from the window is divine. Who needs television? As is usually the case in Scotland, the sanitary facilities are quite basic, but always... clean. (We didn't visit the kitchen block that was criticized). A small thrift store a little way away has everything you need. There is also a petrol station. Scottish drivers appreciate this. I just don't know what it's like in the high season.Automatski prevedeno.
- Sebastian W.July 2015PozitivnoLocationNegativnoToiletsSuperbly located campsitewith beach, brilliant viewpoint. The sanitary facilities are... kept simple ;) but were also usable with children, the toilets not quite as clean... The reception was super friendly and flexible, we felt comfortable and would recommend the site at any time and visit again.Automatski prevedeno.
- Andrea K.July 2015PozitivnoLocationPerfect place to beDream location!!! Dream bays!!! Crystal clear water !!! Perfect coastal hiking trails!!! Supermarket on foot about 3 minutes away Sanitary clean, but very simple!Automatski prevedeno.
- Manfred K.June 2015PozitivnoGreat location on an equally great bay.NegativnoModerate sanitary facilitiesLocation, location, location!Spectacularly situated on the edge of the cliffs in front of a large sandy bay interspersed with rocks. Gets full quickly in the afternoon; if you haven't reserved a spot, arrive early to secure a good spot. Relatively little protection from the wind, especially in northerly winds. Mediocre sanitary... facilities in short supply. Pub with adjoining, well-frequented restaurant with a decent selection of food and free WLAN right next door. Smaller supermarket approx. 300 m away.Automatski prevedeno.
- Andreas und Petra S.June 2015The location makes up for the restBasically a simple site with equally simple sanitary facilities. If the location wasn't so fantastic, we wouldn't spend a night here. Of course, the pitches with electricity in the front row are the most popular. There are about 20 of them, almost all of which have a coarse gravel floor and are narrow.... To get one of these pitches, you should arrive early. We arrived around 12:30 in mid-June and had just three to choose from. Sitting on the cliffs, watching the surf, with a single malt in your glass and the wind whistling around your nose is priceless. We were lucky enough to see a group of whales swimming past. In this respect, the price-performance ratio is also acceptable. We paid 7 pounds per person plus 4 pounds for electricity. Our dogs were free of charge. WiFi is not offered. However, I could have logged on to "Highland WiFi Publik Hot Spot": Hour = 2.99 or day = 4.99. There is a small Spar supermarket with an ATM 100m away and a petrol station opposite. Balnakeil Beach is 2 kilometers away and is well within walking distance. (The parking space there is very limited).Automatski prevedeno.
- Jacqueline R.October 2014PozitivnoFantastic view and tranquillity.Absolutely brilliantWe have been to Sango Sands several times and always enjoy it. Especially when the weather is stormy, you can watch the waves splash up the rocks. Better than any TV program.Automatski prevedeno.
- Brian M.June 2014Pozitivnogreat set-up in an area where there is not an abundance of sitesNegativnosteep cliffs at edge of site, beautiful views but i'd be wary with very young children although they are fenced off. (the cliffs, not kids)warm friendly and welcoming.a lovely campsite set in idyllic scenery. I was travelling by motorcycle and the roads for miles around are just too good and quiet to miss out on. smoo cave is only a few hundred yards from the site and there is a lovely pub/restaurant adjacent to the site. the only problem I could forsee is that the site is atop of a cliff and although it is adequately fenced, I would be wary if I had very young children
- hans r.May 2014PozitivnoPure Scotland!NegativnoNone! (If you need 35 degrees you should go south)!A must! Were there at the end of June 2014, the place was well visited. The drive to the end of the W..., an experience! Simple place but still great! Arrived, pitch occupied, registered at 3pm, no problem!Automatski prevedeno.
- Joachim B.May 2014PozitivnoExceptional locationNegativnoRarely a contact person on siteGreat locationThe site is located directly on top of the cliffs of the sandy beaches of Durness * great view of the sea * there is a climbing path as access to the beach * pitches either hardstanding or grass * unheated sanitary facilities * showers in separate building approx. 30 m away from washbasin and WC * shopping... possible in Spar store next to the site * Highland WiFi often crashes or is unavailable for hours * friendly staff, but only available at reception from 09:00 to 09:30 and 18:00 to 18:30 * but the unique location makes up for a lot of the inconvenienceAutomatski prevedeno.
- Michael R.August 2013Magnificent place: The pitch is located directly on the cliffs and has a viewpoint and beach access (a few seconds' walk to the bottom). A storm-proof tent is advisable here, as it can get very windy. There is a good SPAR supermarket next door, which is open 6 days a week. There is also a restaurant... adjacent to the square, which looks very inconspicuous from the outside, but which the whole town flocks to in the evening, offering typical food and drinks at a reasonable price and in a cozy atmosphere. Next door, a quaint pub is home to the storm-tested northern Scots with billiards, darts and a jukebox. We didn't want to leave this place. The somewhat outdated (mixed) showers may date back to the time when John Lennon was a visitor here, but the sanitary facilities are more recent. All in all, highly recommended!Automatski prevedeno.
