There are lots of trees and large, terraced pitches. Some of the access roads to the pitches are a little steep and narrow. But there is plenty of choice and the campsite operator offers help with his own tractor if necessary. There is a small market and a... nice restaurant and café bar. The nearby fishing village can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes. There are more restaurants right by the sea. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, the campsite is ideal. And even after 17 years as a guest you are still asked if you have... been there before. Most of the pitches are located in the forest and are separated by small walls. Each also has its own electricity and water connection.
There is no talk of dogs or children shouting. We were lucky after Corona that it was very quiet. I can't say what it will be like in a few weeks....
The sanitary facilities were clean and everything was fine.
For the communicative, LTE+ is available on the island and there is free WiFi.
From our point of view a recommendationAutomatisk oversat. - Michael E.August 2019PositiveGreat sea, great place, very clean and well-kept, wonderful quiet location, pristine natureNegativ- Little evening entertainment (disco, bars, shopping etc.) - Unsuitable for people who may be bothered by dogsFor me the best campsite in Croatia...2019 was the 15th time I've been to this campsite since my childhood, sometimes in a caravan, sometimes in a mobile home, sometimes in a tent. I've been to a few other campsites in HR, but this site best meets my expectations of a successful campsite: great sea, great facilities, great nature, great... hiking opportunities. If you are looking for hustle and bustle and a party, this is not the place for you. My children love this place. This year I was there with my tent, and I only noticed one negative thing: the behavior of some dog owners! A few examples: Dogs were repeatedly allowed to do their business on my pitch while I was sitting next to them having breakfast. A lot of dogs (including dog breeds that are sometimes muzzled in Germany) ran around the site off the lead, with their owners following behind on their e-bikes. I had the impression that I was the only one who didn't have a dog ;-) I hadn't noticed this in the mobile home area in recent years, but this year I found it annoying on the campsite itself. Outdated children's playgroundCamping away from the hustle and bustle in a fantastic locationWe stayed for two weeks in Aug./Sept. on a premium pitch between sanitary facilities 2 and 3. The pitch was really huge, so we were able to drive straight onto it with the caravan. The first few days were a bit windy, but otherwise we had a wonderful time on the island. I have to say, however, that we... had a boat with us and therefore hardly used the beach areas on the campsite and preferred to go to the many beautiful bays on the island. The campsite is well maintained in the parceled out areas, it is very quiet except for 3 times a week when there was live music at the Timun bar, and you hardly notice the many dogs on the site. The sanitary buildings are excellent and we always found them clean. Depending on where you are, the distances to the supermarket or the stall in Thia Bay are sometimes very long and the site is on a slope, as has already been mentioned in many other reviews. You should therefore be able to walk well, otherwise we recommend taking bicycles with you. The supermarket was relatively well stocked in high season. Unfortunately we had a very negative experience there, we were sold "rotten" chicken! Apparently the cold chain was interrupted, which prompted us to go shopping in Cres (approx. 30km) or in the small store in the village of Martinscica (approx. 2km)! The playground for children is no longer up to date for a place of this category and is in need of renovation! There are rumours that a pool is to be built next year, but we don't see this as a positive thing, because Camp Slatina has its special charm just as it is, without a pool and without any great entertainment program! It is very steep for caravans, but there is a bring and fetch service. There should be more activities for teenagers aged 14 and over. We had two dogs with us, but there are still enough black sheep who don't clean up after their dogs, there should be more control. We are always striving to make it even better year after year. This year we have introduced additional controls in connection with the stay of dogs, which relate to registration,... bathing, the obligation to keep dogs on a lead...and even urinating. Unfortunately, we cannot monitor everything at all times, but we will pay even more attention to this point.
Regarding the music at Café Timun - there is live music three times a week. We cannot influence the choice of music. It is important to us that they adhere to the house rules, which has worked very well so far. The music always stops at a suitable time (before 11.00 pm).

Really great pitches with trees for shade and a hammock. Plenty of space, just a few steps to the water! Ideal for snorkeling, SUP etc. We even saw dolphins once. The pitch is quite hilly, which can be a bit... problematic for some caravans. You also have to climb a few meters to get to the sanitary building. We found the week very relaxing, had nice neighbors from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and were cooked for by the neighbor (homemade pizza!). You only experience that when camping!!! A really quiet place with everything you need, but if you're looking for a great place, you're in the wrong place. We were there with 2 dogs. At the beginning it's a bit unusual to be given a list of rules of conduct that goes on for pages, but otherwise our dogs felt at home. It happened what had to happen, our dog was attacked and injured by one of the 2 dogs when leaving our mobile home, on a lead of course! Supposedly it was the more relaxed approach. It worked out really well. It takes about 45 minutes from the ferry to the campsite. We booked our pitch a good 5 months in advance and we really didn't have far to the sea and the... pitch was huge. Thanks to our mover, we were also able to reach the very steep pitch easily. Just a small comment from me: it would be nice if the reception desk could tell you that there is a tractor service that takes you to the pitch. You could save yourself a lot of sweat and nerves ;). Otherwise, we spent 12 wonderful days on a truly beautiful and enchanting campsite. The restaurants can be recommended without exception. The food was excellent everywhere and the prices were absolutely fine. The sanitary facilities deserve special mention, super new and spotlessly clean at all times. The cleaning ladies were always friendly :) It was very quiet on the campsite in the evening. We were traveling with two small dogs. There are dog bags and waste garbage cans every few meters, so there's no reason to leave your four-legged friend's droppings lying around. We were greeted with dog shampoo :) and the dog showers were great. Only the places where dogs are allowed in the water are sometimes really adventurous. Often quite steep and really rough to walk on. A small part of Slatina Bay is permitted for dogs. However, we still found a nice spot for us two-legged friends and also for the four-legged friends where you can go into the sea. The water was crystal clear and beautiful. We didn't use the dog park with the agility equipment, it was just too hot. We went on a nice hike and visited the small village of Lubenice. It's really worth seeing and the view is magnificent.
