"most beautiful place in the Saas Valley - An unparceled campsite, which is very uneven in places and can therefore be difficult for low-lying and heavy vehicles, as well as heavier caravans. There are three other campsites in Saas Grund. Camping Kapellenweg certainly has the most beautiful location. Very beautiful location with a view of the snow-covered mountain peaks, right next to a mountain stream and the Kapellenweg (hiking trail to Saas Fee). Very quiet location. Place Saas Grund with various shopping facilities (2x food, also cheap coop, pharmacy, magazine store, souvenir store, bank) within walking distance in about 10 minutes or by post bus (bus stop directly in front of the CP). No gastronomy on site. Only a small kiosk for the essentials, cold drinks and coffee machine. Very good daily bread / bread roll service after pre-ordering with a large selection of local bread and bread rolls, WLAN bookable. If you don't have your own PC / tablet with you, you can borrow an Apple I Pad for 5.- sfr. incl. WLAN. No newspaper service. For campers: bungalow with TV and large tent pavilion. No cooking facilities. No drying room for hiking boots/clothes. Free hot water in all showers. It is incomprehensible why a fee (0.40 € /2min.) is charged for hot water in the dishwashing and clothes washing area and both are only outside. Washing machine and dryer are available. Sanitary facilities are quite old and small, but clean. The site manager also cleans them himself from time to time. There is a men's washroom area with 5 washbasins, three sitting toilets and 2 showers, as well as a ladies' area with four washbasins, four toilets and a shower. There is also a communal sanitary area which is not gender-segregated and has 3 showers, 3 individual wash cubicles and 3 toilets. Three showers are still available in a small wooden bungalow. Despite the lemon-scented dispenser, there is a distinct odor in all sanitary facilities, as the WC and washing areas are not separated. Water taps well distributed throughout the site. No Womo disposal. Dogs allowed but no dog shower. No permanent campers. The few rental caravans are quite small and can therefore only be recommended to a limited extent. Staff are always very friendly, helpful and multilingual. It is great to be able to use all mountain railroads and the Postbus (public transport in the Saas Valley) free of charge for the entire stay with the citizen pass, which is included from the second night for all fellow travelers. If you want to go up the Allalin with the world's highest revolving restaurant and the ice pavilion and take the Metro Alpin cable car, you should definitely buy the SaasPass for 5.- Sfr. per person per day ( max. 45.- sfr. per person for stays over 9 days ) at a mountain railway station ( not possible at the tourist information office and not on the CP ). It may feel a bit expensive at first, but it's always worth it if you use the second Längfluh cable car, which, like the Allalin, is not free with the citizen's pass. The tourist information office also offers a train ticket for the return journey on the Lötschberg car transporter at a reduced price of CHF 5. A scenically beautiful small campsite, which is an ideal starting point for a hiking vacation in the mountain region of the eighteen 4000 m mountains. The proximity to the village, the free bus and cable car rides and the great hiking/climbing trails in the surrounding area are its advantages. The fees are high compared to German campsites, but still acceptable by Swiss standards and in comparison with other Swiss campsites. ( 45.- € for 3 persons )
