Stay: May 2016
"No real further development for traditional campers - Update May 2016: We have been to this campsite several times since our first visit in 2012. Unfortunately, nothing has changed at all in terms of the infrastructure for campers. There are no fresh water connections on the site, i.e. long walks to the sanitary buildings to get water. The pitches also don't look very well maintained, and the store and bar/restaurant were completely closed in May. In addition, prepayment was required for the entire stay when checking in. All in all, a less than pleasing development. We spent 14 days on this site in May/June 2012. The campsite is older and we had already visited it a few years ago. It is very, very spacious between an etang and the long sandy beach. We liked the site itself back then because it was quite pristine. However, the sanitary facilities were in terrible condition. The site recently became part of the Campeole camping chain and has been heavily upgraded. Mobile homes and rental tents now clearly dominate, and they also occupy the best locations towards the Etang and the beach. The pure pitches are somewhat in the background and some are also located on the sometimes busy coastal road. The sanitary facilities are relatively new and were always clean, but not all blocks were open yet. This meant that there was a bit of a bottleneck over the Whitsun holidays when the site was full. There was also a small supermarket selling fresh baked goods in the morning. However, the opening hours were only reliable in the morning. Otherwise it was more at the whim of the sales clerk ;-) Nice staff at reception, some of whom also spoke English. Internet was only available for an (expensive) fee and the reception only worked in the reception and supermarket area. There was a lot of building work going on during our stay, but this didn't affect us on our pitch in any way. The site is simply too big for that. Olive trees and cypresses were being diligently planted directly in the entrance/access area, the spacious pool area with children's paddling area and slides was under construction and, given the progress made over the 13 days, it will certainly be ready in time for the 2012 main season. The restaurant and terrace were also busy and the number of new mobile homes continued to increase. The path to the beach went directly from the campsite through various gates past the Etang or through salt marshes. The large, long sandy beach with water sports facilities or for long walks was only a 5-10 minute walk away. For us, this place was still a very good recommendation - almost an insider tip. However, in view of the development it will undergo, we will probably not come here again. We should have been wearing a club wristband by now, but nobody did and nobody was bothered (yet). As larger youth groups also frequent the site and in view of the large party and entertainment tents, this campsite will probably fall under the category of "sociable and lively atmosphere" in future. Anyone looking for and appreciating this is definitely in good hands here - unfortunately a rather regrettable development for our requirements
