" - Did a cycling vacation through the Netherlands this summer. On our route we ended up at campsite De Stuurmanskolk. It is a particularly beautiful spot and a very well and neatly maintained campground. Did we have the misfortune that it started to rain and a tear was in our tent. The camping boss was kind enough to help us with a piece of tarp and duck tape. A beautiful place to enjoy.

Profile

“De Stuurmanskolk” is een ontdekking op een verrassende plaats. Het lijkt op een park met gevarieerde bomen en struiken die een vijftal kampeervelden van 1,6 ha omzomen met daarop 40 zeer ruime plaatsen met elektra en watertappunten dichtbij. Het luxe …en moderne sanitair zou op een topcamping niet misstaan. Als het gras net gemaaid is waan je je op een golfbaan. Het terrein ligt achter Eet Tapperij Bijsterbosch, een plaatselijk bekend café en eetgelegenheid met een super mooi terras. De vriendelijke eigenaren van de Eet Tapperij, Erik en Hannie Keurhorst, zijn sinds 2006 tevens de beheerders van de erachter liggende camping. Het eetcafé ligt boven aan de dijk langs de uiterwaarden van de IJssel. Het kampeerterrein ligt iets lager aan de 3000 m2 grote stuurmanskolk, die vermoedelijk in 1702 is ontstaan na een dijkdoorbraak. De naam is ontleend aan het geslacht Stuurman dat eeuwenlang op de monumentale boerderij Stoltenberg heeft gewoond. De kolk hoort bij de camping. Je kunt er in zwemmen en zonder vergunning vissen. De waterfietsen en de roeiboot mag je gratis gebruiken om een beetje te spelevaren op het water, dat ook grote aantrekkingskracht uitoefent op diverse watervogels. Het is hier op de rand van de tuin van Salland en de Veluwe en tussen de Hanzesteden Zwolle en Deventer goed toeven. Vanuit deze rustige omgeving kun je fietsen langs landgoederen in Salland, door de uitgestrekte bossen van de Veluwe of over de dijken langs de IJssel. Het uiterwaardenlandschap is werkelijk heel bijzonder! Winkelen kun je volop in Olst aan de overkant van de rivier. Met het pontje vlak bij de camping ben je er na 500 meter. Alleen dat al is een belevenis.
