Description

Profile

SMALL IS BEAUTIFUL - Domaine des Mathevies is an eco-minded sanctuary that offers an alternative to the commercial camping scene. A labour of love, it's a place where adults are as well catered for and contented as their kids and …where you can sit back with a frothy latte or play petanque over a leosurely glass of St-Emilion as a paraglider is swallowed up by the salmon-pink sunset below. Set on a gentle incline with masterful views over the wooded Dordogne valley, there are 38 pitches, many of which enjoy shade from walnut, cherry, fig, apple and plum trees, and all of which have 10 amp electricity hook-ups and free wifi connection. If you are arriving late and don't fancy pitching up for the night there are a selection of chalets to choose from. Including four new Plein Air chalets, pitched to savour the best view over the hills, plus seven more well furbished chalets and mobile homes dotted around the edge of the site that can sleep up to six. There are also two self-contained gites with all mod cons, modern kitchens and bathrooms, satalite TV, fatboy hammocks and weber bbq's. The real ace with the gites though is the spectacular views and private sunsets, giving you all the campsite amenties plus the chance to retire to your own little palace. The site itself is a real playground for kids, with a toddlers' playarea near the Cozy Nook Cafe (so you get to relax with them in plain view). Ther's a terrific climbing area and playground, a childrens splash pool, as well as a larger swimming pool for adults beside the tennis court and table tennis table. The Cozy Nook cafe lives up to its name, with swallow you up couches and delicious bar snacks. Fresh bread and croissants are delivered every morning; the best spot to take breakfast is under the shade of the Linden trees. Dinner is served during high season by food trucks offering a different flavour of the area each evening, including a local organic pizza truck, a Creole food market and even fish and chips.
