"There are nicer places nearby... - We actually wanted to stay at the campsite for 6 nights, but left after the second night because we found a nicer campsite on our day trips along the Moselle and the site in Klüsserath simply didn't offer anything special. The site itself is simply a large meadow, the pitches right by the water are reserved for permanent campers (as is the case almost everywhere on the Moselle) and the guests simply park somewhere else. At least the site is clean, but the maintenance only consists of occasional lawn mowing. When we arrived, we were initially confused because there was a sign with an arrow saying "Registration", but there was no other sign saying "Reception" or similar at the restaurant (where registration takes place). And at the registration desk, the friendly lady was somehow a bit slow on the uptake, as she managed to misspell our 4-letter place of origin three times despite spelling it out and also had to ask us again and again for every other answer. Later on, we always had the feeling that the restaurant owners were just casually running a campsite. Please do not misunderstand: The restaurant is good and also reasonably priced (however, the menu lacked regional dishes for me, it was just a 08/15 standard menu), but an operator should have a bit more enthusiasm for their campsite. What I found really negative were the sanitary facilities. For the large site there is only one complete wash house in the basement of the restaurant, a little further out there is at least a small toilet container. However, the sanitary facilities were undersized for the size of the site. The note "Please bring your own toilet paper" on the doors annoyed me just as much (who likes to walk halfway across the campsite with a roll of toilet paper?) as the cleaning times from 10am to 12pm. When you're on vacation, you want to sleep in and then have a leisurely breakfast, so you might not finish breakfast until around 10 or half past 10. If you want to go to the wash house then, you're out of luck. The cleaning times should have been scheduled for the lunch break, 10 am is definitely too early. At least the sanitary facilities were clean after cleaning. However, they are not modern and have the charm of 1970s original equipment. And another point of criticism about the wash house: as it is located in the basement of the restaurant, there is hardly any daylight in the sanitary area. The wash house should actually be permanently lit, but this is not the case. Of course there is light in the morning and evening, but in the afternoon and at night we had no light there and there is no light switch for visitors to switch the light on and off themselves. So in the afternoon you can go about your business in the semi-dark, but if you have to go out urgently at night you should also take a flashlight with you (as well as toilet paper, if you haven't forgotten it). Opinions can be divided about shower coins, but everything worked here. Apart from that, the site doesn't offer much. There is a bread roll service, but there is no supermarket in the village, which is otherwise a "dead zone". You can drive around in the vineyards and watch the hang-gliders taking off from the summit (they like to land on the meadow right next to the campsite or, in our case, in a tree on the campsite about 20m next to our caravan :D ). Otherwise, however, the site is well suited for day trips to Trier, Luxembourg, Zell, Bernkastel and the other Moselle villages. You can't hear the adjacent roads at night and fortunately there is no annoying railroad line like at other Moselle campsites. Nevertheless, we found another campsite on a day trip that we liked better and therefore left early.
