Camping Lauwerszee is situated in the quite and friendly village of Vierhuizen, by the old sea-dike of the Lauwers sea. The camping site finds itself in a splendid rural area and is hemmed in by trees and bushes. On the …camping you can camp with your tent, caravan or camper. The sites are very spacious and sheltered. There is good sanitation, including toilets, hot showers, washbasins, washing-up facilities and a washer and dryer. Electricity is always on hand. There is ample playground area for children. Furthermore, there are fun playing frames and sand-pit. Pets are welcome on the camping, but they need to be kept on a lead. Although the camping has more than 120 places, there is still the peaceful and easy atmosphere of a small camping. A part of the site is reserved for members of the national Stichting Natuurkampeerterreinen. With a special permit you could make use of these facilities. The permit is not only for sale at the above mentioned organisation, but also on the camping itself. Nature, quite, space and kind-heartedness are the basic traits of Camping Lauwerszee. Come and taste the atmosphere! And why not also taste the fabulous food prepared in the cosy inn "Het Lachende Paard". Breakfast/lunch/dinner or just a drink. Everything is possible.

Vlakbij de camping begint een uniek natuurgebied: Nationaal Park het Lauwersmeer, in 1969 ontstaan door inpoldering van de Lauwerszee. Bossen, weidegrond, rietvelden en natuurlijk veel water bieden er plaats aan zeldzame plantensoorten en talrijke dieren.. Voor honderdduizenden vogels is het …Lauwersmeergebied een groot rust-, broed-, foerageer- en overwinteringgebied geworden. Vogelliefhebbers beschouwen dit gebied dan ook als een eldorado. Wandelaars en fietsers beleven de natuur op hun eigen wijze als zij gebruik maken van het uitgebreide padennetwerk. De stranden langs het Lauwersmeer zijn in trek bij surfers, zwemmers en zonaanbidders. Rondom het Lauwersmeer treft u een van de oudste cultuur-landschappen van Nederland aan. Veel oude dorpen zijn gebouwd op wierden of terpen. Imposante boerderijen, eeuwenoude kerkjes, molens en fraaie borgen (het bezoeken meer dan waard) sieren het landschap. Tussen de dorpen kronkelen de maren, kleine riviertjes, die bij uitstek geschikt zijn voor kanotochten. Behalve het hiervoor genoemde is er in het Lauwersland nog veel meer te zien en te beleven. Camping Lauwerszee biedt een prima uitvalsbasis voor al uw uitstapjes in deze wondermooie regio.
