Stay: Jul 2011
" - This campsite was probably recently taken over or leased out. You can see in every nook and cranny that the campsite has been somewhat neglected in recent years in terms of maintenance. During our visit, however, we got the impression that the new tenant family is apparently busy drawing up plans for the restoration. The reception is in good condition and even houses a tiny bar in the form of a serving hatch and a few chairs and tables on a small terrace. This is probably enough for a cozy beer while passing through. There is no possibility to order bread rolls or anything similar, and the way to the nearest full-service grocery store is quite long and can only be managed by car. A small flat-roofed pavilion has apparently only recently been built, in which a steam sauna and a small whirlpool have been installed for use. These buildings were completed just as we were visiting. In addition to the pitches, which are separated by hedges and are not too large, but sufficiently spacious, there is a "zone boisée", a "wooded" area whose function is not entirely clear, but which provides nice shade. There are also some mobile homes on the site, but they were not occupied during my stay. Behind the campsite is the outdoor swimming pool with two pools and a diving facility, which is run by the municipal mayor's office. The entrance fee in the 2011 season was just under 5 euros for an adult, which is steep considering the not overly comprehensive service - but the welcome cooling off is well worth it. The staff at the site were friendly, but not over-engaged. Despite a recognizable lack of work, they insisted on the lunch break from 1 to 3 pm (a pitch could be chosen and occupied in advance). There are two sanitary facilities on the site, one of which is in operation - both are from the seventies and have the brittle charm that is still familiar to French campers from the last few decades (ochre yellow painted doors and partitions, slightly tarnished mirrors and the wash cubicles still have no doors). That's the flair of back-to-the-roots - anyone who knows France and its municipalities will get on very well with it. The cleanliness was acceptable, but not outstanding. On closer inspection, the second sanitary building turned out to be a building site, with some of the fixtures having been completely demolished; this suggests that it may be undergoing a complete renovation. The extent to which the site will be a success even after renovation remains to be seen - on the one hand, there is only a trampoline for children away from the swimming pool, and the surrounding area offers nothing else of interest (even for adults), on the other hand, the site is only suitable to a limited extent for transit from the east (Germany - Austria - Switzerland etc.) in the direction of Brittany / Normandy, as it is over twenty kilometers away from the freeway. Although this is within the realm of the drivable if the transit site offers something unusual, in this case it is more of a further obstacle to actually heading for the site. For me, it was a random destination after the night drive - I wanted to leave Paris behind me in the direction of Brittany, so camping.info offered this site. As a stopover, it certainly fulfilled its purpose, but beyond that it is nothing special - in both a negative and positive sense.
