"Great family campsite in Provence - As already described, there are no separate waiting areas in front of the campsite for caravans or motorhomes. In the high season there could well be a backlog in this respect (Bea.: barrier!). The reception was professional and very polite. If you can't speak French yourself, you can "switch" to English. Although we arrived at the end of August, we were able to choose our pitch. It was also big enough for our family caravan. Although the site is located directly on a main road and arterial road, there was no discernible nuisance (only those pitches directly on the edge of the site would find this negative). Our sanitary building was in Roman style and large enough at the end of August. However, it can be assumed that there could be bottlenecks during the high season. The cleanliness was O.K. The supermarket on site offered the normal range of products. As we only bought baked goods there - which were cheap as always - I can't comment on the price level of the market. There is a large water system on two levels on the campsite. On the lower level there is a large pool area with a current pool, a small indoor pool and several slides. The water was warm, but I personally didn't feel comfortable in it (hygiene!). In the upper area, designed in the style of a Roman theater, you can swim in a slightly colder pool. The water here also made a better impression. There were an acceptable number of sun loungers. There was also a bouncy castle, table tennis tables and a mini golf course on the site. The "restaurant area", where (entertainment) events are also held, is designed outside like a pirate ship where children can climb. However, the restaurant's facilities and quality are below average. The service staff were also unfriendly. The entertainment is aimed more at a French and Dutch audience. Money is better spent here in Vaison (approx. 20 minutes on foot, approx. 8 minutes by bike). Due to the facilities, which are clearly aimed at families (toddlers to teenagers), there is of course a lot going on from early in the morning until late at night. But I think you know that in advance. WLAN was free of charge in the immediate vicinity of the reception and restaurant complex. TIP 1: You can go on great mountain bike tours from the CP. A map is available at the tourist center in Vaison! The only problem is finding the starting point. However, the tours themselves are very well signposted. The classifications must be observed!!! Difficult is really difficult (pushing and carrying passages!). TIP 2: The whole area itself!

" - In July 2012, we spent several days at the "Carpe diem" campsite near Vaison la Romain. We could have made better use of the days. Even the approach to the campsite earned us the displeasure of other campsite visitors. Without meaning to, we suddenly found ourselves with our caravan behind a bend in the road in front of a closed barrier, which we were unable to pass due to a lack of knowledge of the access code. We couldn't get back either, as the access road was narrow and further restricted by vehicles parked on the side. As the reception was not manned, we were left standing there and nobody could enter the campsite. We couldn't see any designated stopping points for new arrivals. The pitches are laid out according to plan, separated from each other by high hedges and offer little shade. Although this provides a certain amount of visual privacy, it does not create the kind of pleasant atmosphere you want on vacation. In addition, a noisy, busy road runs directly past the campsite. Fresh water points are evenly distributed around the site. Unfortunately, we had the misfortune of having a water point right next to our pitch. Its drain was blocked, so that whenever water ran into the drain, it overflowed and formed a foul-smelling puddle, intensified by the heat of the sun. Despite several tips to the staff and requests to solve the problem, nothing was done - we were simply ignored. We found the sanitary facilities to be an imposition. The number of toilets and showers in the main sanitary building is far too low in the high season. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. In our opinion, the cleaning was only very superficial and we never observed any regular disinfection, which is urgently required given the high frequency of use. There were holes in the shower walls which were used by voyeurs. The water pressure in the flush toilets regularly collapsed completely so that you couldn't flush away your waste or were confronted with that of the previous person. We then discovered another sanitary building in the mobil homes area, which was much cleaner and technically OK. However, the water temperature could not be regulated when showering there, so a refreshing cool shower after a hot sunny day was not possible. The campsite has an elaborate outdoor pool with several slides and is therefore very attractive for families with children. The terrain is relatively hilly and therefore very unusual for the mass of campers. Internet access is also offered free of charge. However, this is very poor and so slow that you quickly lose the fun of surfing. We also didn't like the so-called forum, which includes the bar, the restaurant and a play area for the children. We found the prices to be quite high compared to other campsites we know in France. For example, it is not possible to order a carafe of wine at the bar. The country wine, which is so typical of the region, is only offered in small glasses at disproportionately high prices. A large play castle for children, which frames the bar and restaurant area, is well designed. Here, parents have their little ones well in sight when they want to have something to eat. Sitting at bright red "Miko" tables (Langnese), you can also listen to the evening entertainment. We can only rate this as extremely poor. Even someone who doesn't have high expectations of the evening entertainment will be bored and prefer to spend the evening comfortably in front of the caravan or tent. It is very clear that the campsite is run by a larger organization and not privately. Although mostly friendly, the staff didn't seem very motivated or committed to us. Although there are signs pointing out the shortage of water in Provence in the summer, this is overlooked when children spend hours playing at the water points or in the wash houses. Deficiencies are not rectified but accepted at the expense of the campsite guests - probably until the end of the season. The area around the campsite is ideal for many excursions: The very pretty little town of Vaison la Romain can be reached on foot in 20 minutes. An old Roman bridge spans the Ouvèze here. On one side is medieval Vaison below a castle with beautiful old alleyways and buildings, small stores, cafés and restaurants. On the other side is modern Vaison with its shopping street and the weekly Provençal market. Crossing the town, you reach the Roman excavation sites, the largest in France, with the Roman theater at the far end. If you want to avoid the overcrowded swimming pool at the campsite, there are many beautiful bathing spots along the Ouvèze. The Touleranc gorges invite you to hike along the river. Alternating between shallow and knee-deep, half-day tours can be undertaken. The view from the giant of Provence, Mount Ventoux, is worthwhile. While it is still 37°C in the valley, for example, the temperature drops to a sensitive 13°C at the summit. Many "Mount Ventoux finishers" who have conquered the classic on the trail of the Tour de France gather here. If visibility is good, you can make out Mont Blanc. It is said that you can even see as far as Corsica when visibility is good. If you circle Mount Ventoux, you will come to Sault, a local stronghold of lavender cultivation. To the south of the mountain are the Gorges de la Nesque, a gorge that offers impressive views. The lavender fields around Sault with the Nesque gorge look like a somewhat smaller version of the lavender fields near Valensole with the Verdon gorge.
