"Used as a stopover - To avoid traffic jams at the Brenner Pass, get off the highway and onto the site. Nice welcome from the staff. Everything was OK for one night, I wouldn't stay there longer, although the area is nice. It would be too cramped for me for longer (you can find that communicative) and too noisy from the road. Then the Easter vacations were high season in South Tyrol, so it was quite expensive. Especially compared to what we had previously paid in Tuscany. And if you consider the other facilities on the site: a bathing jetty to the lake and a well-hidden table tennis table. Electricity supply rather below average. So if things get tight at the Brenner again, an alternative. Restaurant with terrace looked nice, but we didn't use it.

"Nice, simple campsite - We stayed at the St. Josef campsite for 6 days and felt at home there. The pitches are small but well-kept. Many campers with tents. Guests with dogs are also welcome. You can swim in Lake Kaltern from the jetty. The sanitary facilities are functional and well maintained. The campsite store has a good range of everyday necessities as well as bread rolls, sausage and cheese. We really enjoyed the food in the campsite restaurant. In addition to the regular menu, there are 2-3 dishes of the day every day. On Wednesdays there is only pizza. You can also have a very good breakfast in the campsite restaurant. The wifi is sometimes better and sometimes worse. All in all, we had a pleasant time.

"Well suited for transit - Like last year, we used the campsite as a stopover. It's a shame that the service staff in the restaurant and store are not as friendly and helpful as the campsite manager. The Winkel-Keller is highly recommended!

"Gladly again and again - Even if the site is a bit outdated, it still has charm. Unfortunately, the street noise is increasing and the tent meadow is already very loud. But if you manage to get a pitch, you won't hear much.

St. Josef Campsite blends neatly into the landscape on the south-western shore of the lake at Kaltern-Caldaro where the lake appears to merge seamlessly into the unspoilt adjoining biotope. Set amidst dense reeds and tall cypresses near the lake shore …with the Mendel-Mendola mountain ridge rising protectively up in the background, it attracts cyclists and walkers, nature lovers, bathing guests, wine enthusiasts and connoisseurs. Kalterer See lake lies along one of the most beautiful stretches of the South Tyrol Wine Road, between the slopes and hills where Kaltern-Caldaro’s wine is allowed to mature at its own pace.
