"Family friendly, clean, not too big. Very suitable for surfers - Surfer-friendly, clean sanitary facilities, right by the sea, market and restaurant on site The pitches are not very large, but sufficient for a medium-sized motorhome or caravan. Cars must be deposited in a parking lot

"Poorly maintained campsite in a weak wind area - I experienced this campsite for two weeks in the early summer of 2014 so that I could go windsurfing during this time. First things first: a very unpleasant experience considering the large number of kiters! Unfortunately, unlike many other beaches, there are no clear rules or separation between windsurfing and kitesurfing zones on this narrow beach. This means that accidents and daily annoyances, as well as cross-dangerous incidents with unplanned kites taking off and dragging across the beach or unplanned kites dropping, are a daily occurrence. We can only recommend that you only enter the beach with a helmet ... or keep your eyes open. I'm sure this is how few people imagine their vacation ... Please keep children away from the water's edge ... because that's where the "kite experts" really get going ... I can't recommend the site or this bay for non-kiters, but kiters with children in tow should also think twice ... Due to the road leading to the beach next to the campsite, it doesn't get quiet at night until 00.00 at the earliest, and on Fridays to Sundays it takes longer because motorized teenagers have to whizz down to the beach to reach the discos on the beach. Experience has shown that young people like to do this more loudly than with a throttled engine ... ;-) ... A real ray of hope is the gastronomy, i.e. bar and restaurant ... highly recommended! The pitches are extremely small, making it difficult to fit larger motorhomes. The sanitary facilities have already been reported on here, unfortunately nothing has changed significantly for the better ....

"Beautiful place with lots of surfers - We were here in the high season and yet it was never overcrowded. We know that Italy can be loud but it wasn't annoying. The sanitary facilities were not too clean in our time. You have to be aware that surfers and kite surfers set the tone on the beach here. So you have to expect a lot of wind and they are not always too considerate. The campsite can't help it, but you should bear it in mind. But you can get to Vieste quickly (a dream) and explore the whole Gargano.

" - I was at Umbramare in the low season. The location is very good - especially for windsurfers and kiters. There are plenty of places for windsurfers to hang their rigs and store their surfboards. This must be the case because the pitches are so tiny that you can't fit a rig on them. But the size of the pitches seems to be the norm here on the Gargano. The ground is sandy, the restaurant is also OK, and there is a small market with a good selection. The site is reasonably well maintained. The sanitary facilities are a real imposition: they are sprayed out once a day with a hose, they haven't seen any cleaning agents for a long time. :( The walls of the toilets are smeared and filthy. This is all the more annoying as the toilets are so narrow that you inevitably bump into the wall. 3 sitting toilets, the rest for squatting. Although 90% of the guests speak German, the owners speak neither English nor German. Solo Italiano. In short: good location for wind sports enthusiasts, sanitary facilities an imposition. Would I come here again? Yes, because the beach is a dream, but only if there are no alternatives to Umbramare. (but fortunately there are)

Im Auto: VOM NORDEN : von der Autobahn A/14 ( Bologna-Bari), Ausfahrt Poggio Imperiale; auf die Superstrada vom Gargano in Richtung Peschici, auf der Küstenstraße Peschici-Vieste bis zur Ortschaft S. Maria di Merino, links abbiegen, hier ist der Camping-Residence Umbramare. …Oder von Peschici auf die Staatsstraße ss89 fahren, bei Km 96 links abbiegen und den Schildern folgen. VOM SÜDEN : auf die Staatsstraße ss16 bis Manfredonia fahren und dann die Küstenstraße in Richtung Vieste nehmen. Von Vieste auf die Küstenstraße Vieste-Peschici für etwa 6 Km bis zur Ortschaft S. Maria di Merino fahren, rechts abbiegen, hier ist der Camping-Residence Umbramare. Mit dem Zug : Hauptbahnhof von Foggia oder San Severo, Linienbus bis Vieste und dann Ringbus Nord bis zur Ortschaft S. Maria di Merino.
