"Apartment with modern flat screen - We should have read a little more carefully! The LED TV is actually the highest quality item in the apartment we rented. However, we didn't switch it on. The rest of the apartment gives the impression that nothing has been changed here since the late 1970s. As a family with two children, we spent the Easter holidays in an apartment here. The operator describes the furnishings as "high class". The apartment was dark and dusty, the sofa bed was not usable for the children, it was completely dusty. The towels were musty, the bedding dusty and the room smelled unpleasantly of insecticide. It was so bad that we had to wash all our unused clothes on our return to remove the bad smell. I also found the operator's tone towards children playing inappropriate. Even if children get out of hand while playing, they shouldn't be reprimanded with "You must be crazy" by people they don't even know. This can certainly be handled in a different tone. All in all, not a pleasant experience at a disproportionately high price.

"Ideal for hiking vacations - We stayed at the campsite for four days in September 2018. The location of the campsite on the outskirts of Birkenfeld is very nice and quiet. You can go on shorter and longer hikes directly from the campsite. Many of the excellent Traumschleif hiking trails can also be reached quickly by car. Various shopping facilities such as supermarkets and discount stores are also within walking distance (approx. 600m). The sanitary facilities are a bit outdated, but were always clean. The room temperature in the shower rooms was too cold for our taste, so showering was more of a race. The dishwashing room can only be opened with a key. You get this on arrival but we often had to go back to the caravan to get the key (a bit awkward). The sunbathing lawn and the playground by the swimming pond are certainly popular with young and old in summer temperatures. There is also a small, secluded nudist area. The campsite's philosophy of sustainability and environmental protection, as already described by "matthias-916", will continue to be pursued in 2018. For example, weeds at the swimming pond are removed by hand and no weed killers are used. Individual hedges and shrubs, which serve as food and protection for insects and birds, are deliberately only cut back in late fall. We felt very much at home and will definitely be back at some point.

" - Attention! The campsite operator publishes incorrect opening times on its website! It says they are open until 31.10. The answering machine does not indicate anything to the contrary either. But if you then decide - partly because of the good feedback - to drive around for a few hours, you may be in for a surprise: Closed since 15.10.! By the way: there is probably no automated feedback for online bookings. Something like this would be easy to set up and customer-friendly, e.g. to inform you that the pitch will be closed during the requested time.

" - The campsite, which appeared somewhat inconspicuous from the outside, turned out to be a little gem once we entered. We were traveling with motorcycles and a tent and were given a pitch that we could choose ourselves. The sanitary facilities look a bit old-fashioned, but are absolutely well maintained and clean. There is a pond, nudism is possible, it is very quiet - there is no bread service - but it is only 400 m on foot to about 4 bakeries and a shopping center. The owner is very nice and explained her philosophy to us, which is based on sustainability, environmental protection, tolerance and community. Despite the youth groups, the campsite was quiet in the evening. Motorcycle tours were experienced and organized by the operator herself! All in all, a very nice experience there :)
