Description

Profile

Wherever you look, you'll see water. EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren is located on an island with the Beulakerwijde on one side and the Belterwijde on the other. Take a boat trip on the sparkling water, take a refreshing dip or …explore the beautiful nature of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Nearby is the picturesque town of Giethoorn, known as the Dutch Venice. At EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren, you can enjoy a relaxing holiday right by the water! Weerribben-Wieden National Park EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren holiday park is located in the Kop van Overijssel, in the middle of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. This extensive nature reserve is the largest contiguous area of fenland in north-west Europe, created by the extraction of reeds and peat. Over time, a labyrinth of watercourses interspersed with ponds, lakes, swamp forests and reed beds was created. Here you will find unusual plants such as marsh spurge and marsh marigold. Look around carefully, because who knows, you might spot a large fire butterfly or an otter. The best way to explore the area is on foot, by bike or - even better - by boat or canoe. And the best thing is: you can simply set off from the park's marina! Meppel and Hasselt Just 15 minutes from EuroParcs De Wiedense Meren are charming towns such as Meppel and Hasselt. Stroll through the streets of Meppel past monumental buildings and canals with small bridges or climb the Meppel Tower. The Molen de Weert, where corn is still ground today, or the famous printing museum are also definitely worth a visit. In the Hanseatic city of Hasselt, you can admire historic buildings such as St Stephen's Church or one of the other 70 national monuments and discover why Hasselt is also known as 'Little Amsterdam'. This characterful city is located on the Zwarte Water and was already an important economic and religious centre in the Middle Ages. Several pilgrimage routes converge in Hasselt, linking up with the famous pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.
