"Well - We had expected more from the place. Everything was kept very simple and there were few long walks without a bike. The staff at registration were very friendly, most of the others had problems saying "good morning". The food in the restaurant tasted good but it also has its price. According to the signpost it is 2.8km to the beach :-)

"Average space - Actually a nice Cp. But the sanitary facilities are far too far away (you have to cycle everywhere). Den Hoorn within walking distance. Beach also further away than expected on the map. For me the CP was ok. No more and no less

"large space in the dunes - spacious pitches, many and clean sanitary facilities, the Hoorn is within walking distance, although relatively far from the sea, but if you have a bike with you, it is a nice route to ride, highly recommended is the organic farm Novalishoeve on the edge of de Hoorn

"great location - we were on the naturist part - sanitary facilities quite far - unfortunately we had a problem with the neighbor - he stood 1 m next to us and was then disturbed by our radio! as a camper I don't understand the allocation of places - there are only 5 places for camper vans - but a camper van can also stand where a camping trailer can go - on the other hand, they are thinking about closing the naturist part because it is supposedly underutilized - otherwise Texel is great and very bike-friendly - shopping facilities and beach 10 min each - that's reasonable - restaurant is also recommended

"A nice stay with an unpleasant ending - We had booked a pitch for our stay on the naturist part early on and had already paid for it in full. We had found out about the details of the facilities on the pitch beforehand and therefore have nothing negative to report. When we unfortunately had to cancel our vacation early due to family problems, we were not refunded the amount we had already paid. So we paid for 5 days of electricity, sanitary facilities, etc. even though we weren't there. We also did not put the operator at a disadvantage by having to reject other applicants because the pitch around us was empty. We find such behavior dubious and have never experienced anything similar anywhere else. Finally, we were offered a voucher for the remaining days. When we asked how long it would be valid for, we were told that it was only valid in the early and late season. Strange, but we had booked and paid for high season (July/August)...?! All in all, we left the campsite with a bad feeling, even though Texel is really great. It's a shame that such a well-known operator is so inflexible.

"Everything nice so far - We (46,45,17,12 years) were satisfied. Certainly there are one or two things that could be improved but the vacation was nice.

Loodsmansduin camping site bears the hallmark of nature. It's located close to Den Hoorn in the middle of National Park Dunes of Texel; very appealing to those who love the great outdoors. The feeling of freedom in the midst of …nature is unique. Sea breezes and characteristic dune and woodland scents stimulate the senses the moment you awaken. The camping site is one big adventure for children. The heath continually changes colour, a pheasant darts past your tent. Nature rules here. Our facilities are centred around the reception. Free as a bird Step beyond the camping site and the expanse of nature is literally at your fingertips. A motley crew of birds, wild horses and Highland cattle populate this unique district. The history of the Den Hoorn region is revealed in all kinds of ways. You need only look at the characteristic village cottages, war bunkers, or the light of a pilot ferry falling on the church of Den Hoorn, which still serves as a beacon for passing vessels. Seen enough? Then why not relax on the beach at Pole 9.

Directions

Directions Loodsmansduin is situated close to Den Hoorn. The camping site is easily accessible by car and public transport. By car Travel to Den Helder via the A7 and/or N9. Directions to the ferry are clearly indicated. Once you disembark …from the boat on Texel, drive straight on through the first set of lights. Follow the Pontweg until the first roundabout (exit 7). Go three-quarters around, taking the Den Hoorn exit. This is the Hoornderweg, which ends in a T-junction. Take the left and immediately the first road to the right (Lage Wegje). Continue to the end, then turn left. The camping site is 300 metres ahead of you. You can also plan your route via www.routenet.nl Enter Loodsmansduin’s address: Rommelpot 19, 1797 RN, Den Hoorn By public transport Take the train to Den Helder. From the station take bus 33 to the ferry. We would advise you to book a Texel Telekomtaxi at the counter in Den Helder. You can also take bus 29 on Texel. Validate your ticket in Den Helder ahead of your journey to Den Hoorn. Alight at the only stop in the village. From there, walk in the direction of the local supermarket on the village square. Turn left into the Herenstraat. After walking for 300 metres (the street name changes to ‘Klif’ at the halfway point), you reach the junction with Rommelpot. Turn left. Loodsmansduin is situated 300 metres further on.
