Description

Profile

Woolsbridge Manor Farm Caravan Park is nestled in the heart of rural Dorset, and with magnificent beaches and the New Forest within easy reach, it is a stunning place to holiday. The farm extends to over 130 acres, which have …Certified Organic Status, through which flows the Moors River. The Farm dates from the 18th century and has been in the same family for many years. The organic management, as well as the ethos of the caravan park, has ensured that the various habitats for wildlife are abundant, which has been instrumental in achieving the David Bellamy Conservation Award. The Moors River runs through the farm meadows, where water voles have been reintroduced. The Caravan Park is situated within easy walking or cycling distance to Moors Valley Country Park using the bridleways and paths, avoiding the roads. This is one of the reasons for the number of campers who return regularly to the campsite, as well as enjoying the benefits of staying in a family-run, quiet and peaceful family holiday base. The origins of the word “Woolsbridge” relate to the surrounding land next to the Moors River, which at the time was a watermeadow, or “Wool”. The original bridge over the Moors river was constructed in the mid 1800s, sadly the original bridge is no longer present, having been replaced by a modern design. In the late 1700s the farm and surrounding area was gifted to Admiral Lord Nelson for his courage during his early career in the Navy.
