"If only it weren't for the mosquitoes... - A great campsite. The pitches are really big. We had booked a two-flower pitch (the three-flower pitches were already fully booked in January). The promised 100 square meters were far exceeded. It was great that each pitch was completely bordered by a 2m high hedge. Shade was unfortunately in short supply. We were there in July. Nothing works without additional shade. Water had to be dragged a few meters, there was no water supply on the pitches, only on the three-flowered pitches. Electricity with 10 amps was sufficient. There was also no voltage drop. However, we didn't really use many electrical appliances. The grass is yellow, but that's not surprising there. Despite lots of children, it wasn't particularly noisy on the pitch. We had a pitch near the pool, where you could of course hear the usual "swimming pool noise" and the music etc. of the respective program in the evening. This went on until midnight. But it didn't bother us any more. Only the barking dogs in the early morning (six o'clock) were disturbing. We knew from other reviews that there are mosquitoes there. Well, you just smear yourself at night and you'll be fine. My ass.... Around lunchtime, two hours after arriving, I already had a few bites. After a few days, over 80 bites. Despite Autan. Even during the day you have no peace and quiet. The common housefly also appeared in packs. The on-site pool: sensational for children. There's also a pool for swimming laps. In great weather it was full, but not overcrowded. Then there was a shortage of loungers. Some of the evening shows were really great. Disadvantage: The children's entertainment in French is stupid for primary school children from Germany. But not to be expected otherwise, as the majority come from France or the UK. But we were there because of the swimming pool (especially the slides) and the proximity to the sea. That brings us to a disadvantage. The beach at Gruissan is ten kilometers away. Nothing for cycling in the July heat. Except for the really tough ones, without children. Gruissan beach: large, never crowded. Pleasant sea. However, always windy. We had a mistral for one week out of two, which means you get sandblasted. No sun tent holds. The sunshades were positioned against the wind. From the evening onwards, the sand piled up quite high. The sanitary facilities were clean, but there were only three toilets and three shower cubicles. Not a problem for us, as we showered at unusual times. At peak times, the water was sometimes cold. And there was no washbasin with soap and towel/dryer, just five wash cubicles. So take soap with you to the toilet. The site is a bit out of the way, which means you have to drive to the shops (Narbonne approx. 8 km). However: the mosquitoes! That was a real horror. You should have the right equipment with you. We had miscalculated. Despite numerous reviews about the considerable mosquito infestation, we didn't take it seriously enough. Which paid off with around 80 bites per person after a few days. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Although I made a real effort to communicate in French, I always received an answer in English. Gastronomy was not tested, only bought baguettes in the store. German creatures of habit beware! There are no bread rolls.
