Benoît V.March 2023Positiivisetthe breathtaking view of the beach below, a campsite where all the cm are counted that must be swarming in summer ... but it's clean, well organized and efficient ...Negatiivisetplots that are a little too small for those who like space or don't like maneuvering their vehicle...long live the wind...as a transit campsite in march it's just perfect! but we wouldn't come in high season... nevertheless we enjoyed this stopover near san sebastian and stayed 3 nights.Käännetty automaattisesti.

Very quiet during the week, but very busy at weekends, even in May. The sanitary facilities are as good as new and clean, the pitches are pleasantly large.
Zaurautz has a long sandy beach, but beware that there are 400 steps between the campsite and the beach.

But we stayed after all and didn't regret it. Very friendly staff, you can manage well with English. The pitches are not too big, but sufficient. If you want to go to the beach, you have to be prepared for a very steep path. But the view from... the path and the beach itself make up for every drop of sweat. A paradise for surfers and water rats! Registration is quite quick and the staff are friendly. The restaurant offers simple meals at fair prices. The sanitary facilities are modern and always as clean as the camper leaves them. The site is very lively. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you should avoid the site! New campers are constantly arriving and leaving the site. Friendly staff, fresh bread in the mini market in the morning even in November. Great restaurant next to the campsite, good value lunch here. Zarautz itself has a beautiful beach promenade and a great town center. The ham in the market hall is recommended.... Sanitary facilities in the ladies' area very dirty. Unfortunately there were a lot of rats on the pitch, scurrying around under the camper vans and being quite intrusive. Luckily we had our Jack Russel with us, we had peace and quiet after a short time. The campsite is very popular with youth groups and we were placed right there, so there was no separation (but perhaps this was also due to the fact that the site was more than full). The pitches were... small, it was noisy and the sanitary facilities were dirty. The site offers ideal conditions for aspiring surfers. Zarautz has the longest beach on the Bay of Biscay with small, even but sufficient waves and plenty of surf schools. The site has a direct but steep path to the beach or a bus to the town for €1.50. Even on the way up to the campsite, which is situated approx. 100 m above sea level, there are beautiful views of the sea and the town. In high season, the fairly large site has its own reception for youth groups in the lower part of the site,... which is well separated from the rest of the site. As a 'normal' camper, you are immediately waved upstairs and several helpful and very friendly employees first assign you a parking position. After registering, you are personally taken to your pitch and, if available, you are even given a small choice. The 'dream pitches' shown on the homepage do exist, but only in very small numbers, tiny and without electricity. A little further back, however, there are also a few pitches, some with a pleasant view. There are plenty of pitches with electricity, but very few with waste water and fresh water. Pitches for vehicles around 8m in length are in short supply. In general, the pitches are small, sometimes tiny. My pitch was just 8m deep, so I could only just park my caravan, which was 7.60m long and 2.40m wide. The distance to the neighbor was about 50cm, awning extended (2.50) and so I was already within 50cm of the next neighbor. In the high season you sit extremely close to each other as the pitch is practically fully booked every day. The daily turnover is very high, which naturally creates a certain amount of hustle and bustle in the mornings and evenings. The two sanitary blocks are basically okay and would actually get 3 to 4 points from me. The size in particular is incredible. I have never seen such a large cubicle with a wide partition for the laundry area. Plus a high shelf and two hooks, one on the door and one in the separate area. Unfortunately, there was only one shower cubicle in which both hooks were available. In all the other cubicles all the hooks were gone, in three cubicles there was still a partial hook. This could be repaired in the short term! Therefore, I only give 2 points for sanitary facilities! The campsite has a small, well-stocked grocery store which is open from 8.30am to 10pm. There is a fruit and vegetable stall in front of it from around 9 am to 3 pm. Both are open Monday to Sunday. Right next to it is a room with washing machines and dryers. Unfortunately, there is no ironing board or iron. In the same building there is a simple restaurant with a large terrace. There is a restaurant on the upper floor with a great view of the sea. There is an off-site restaurant just to the right as you come up the hill to the main square. Another restaurant that we found to be good is in the lower area opposite the first reception for the youth groups mentioned above. We also met many Spaniards in this restaurant. The campsite is well connected by a city bus. The bus leaves every hour (except at lunchtime) from the main square to Zarautz and stops at three places. The walk from the campsite to the beach is very scenic but long. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the beach. There are also a lot of steps to negotiate. I estimate half an hour back - but you can always take the bus. Only 10 minutes walk to the village beach. The sea is the realm of surfers. In the upper area there are more shady pitches. Convenient for trips to Donostia and Bilbao (train more convenient). The pitches are allocated and we were able to choose from 5 adjacent pitches. It's about a 15-minute walk down to the beach and 20 minutes back. The pitches are not particularly large. Very good sanitary facilities. - Ian R.April 2013A large modern site with a new and very clean wash block. Slightly terraced, grassy pitches gave good views of the coast and sea but little privacy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the shop was fairly well stocked. The bar served good local beer and wine but we found the food wasn't to our taste.... There is a separate section for youth groups but as they had to use the same wash block we had a few issues with noise in the early hours. Overall a good sight.

Guntram H.May 2012The site is located on a hill above the bay of Zarautz (130 meters above sea level). A cul-de-sac leads up the hill from road no. 638 - access is signposted! There are pitches of various sizes on level ground, which are allocated. The ground is meadow, which could get a little deep when it rains. The... current sanitary building is rather small, but has always been clean. However, a new, modern sanitary building is being built and we assume that it will go into operation in the summer of 2012. The restaurant is relatively expensive (for what is on offer) and the store offers basic equipment. Situated high above the bay of Zarautz, you have a great view of the Atlantic on one side and in the other direction you can already see the first peaks of the Pyrenees. For guests who want to swim in the bay, there is a partly steep path down. Getting up there in summer is a sweaty affair - not necessarily ideal for a beach vacation. With children, we wouldn't know what to do on this site any longer. However, it is a good base for visiting San Sebastian and Bilbao, and possibly Pamplona too!Käännetty automaattisesti.
