"Here the larks sing - The cozy place has been owned by Antonie and Jolanda Muijen for 12 years and they always take care of their guests. They also speak very good German. We were greeted with a handshake, shown around the site and given an explanation of everything. The sanitary facilities are spacious, beautiful, clean, not gender-segregated, with toilet seats, no paper. The WiFi is reliable and cheap. Not the fastest, but for 1 euro a day on the whole campsite, absolutely fine. The pitches are a good 150m2 in size and have electricity and fresh water. I was a bit surprised that I had to pay for the bread and croissants I ordered straight away. Obviously we had some bad experiences. We were surprised when the bread was lying on a chair in front of the caravan in the morning, home delivery service!!!! Super. The pizzas are good, once a week there are delicious chicken dishes, on two other days a regional dish. A market driver also comes once a week and offers his food. The dog walks are varied and maps are available to borrow. There are several sights in the area. The most impressive is Oradour sur Glane, which has been preserved as it was destroyed and the inhabitants killed in 1944. We liked the campsite very much and will be back.

"Highly recommended - We stayed at this beautiful campsite for a few days in April 18 and can only recommend it. The Dutch couple who run the site are extremely approachable, always helpful and friendly. On request, they provide lots of information about the wonderful Limousin countryside, places of interest, etc. Although we were still there in the early season, the site was very well maintained and everything was ready. We didn't always find this at other campsites.

"An extraordinary campsite - The campsite is for peace seekers who prefer very clean sanitary facilities and who are not afraid to stand on a spacious pitch (150m2). The camping owners are very friendly and helpful. Regularly they cook for the guests. and at other times you can order chicken and fries.

The tranquil Camping des Alouettes is located in the beautiful and peaceful region of Limousin in central France, in the wooded Périgord-Limousin. Here you can enjoy a very pleasant atmosphere, surrounded by greenery and a dreamlike landscape. Visit the pretty …villages with their markets and castles, or take a dip in the recreational lake around the corner in summer. When you arrive, you will immediately notice how clean and well-kept everything is. You will receive a friendly welcome from the Dutch management. With just under sixty pitches for holidaymakers, seven mobile homes and three tents, the campsite is pleasantly manageable, but the pitches are very generous and above average in size at 150 m². They are beautifully laid out and extremely well maintained. The parcelling out here is done quite naturally using hedges and plants. The sanitary facilities are also very nice and well maintained. For summer fun in the water and cooling off when temperatures are high, you have a choice. The campsite has a swimming pool and a paddling pool for the youngest camping guests. But you will also find a bathing lake (Plan d'eau de Cognac la Forêt) about 800 metres from the site. Here you will also find a sandy beach and in July and August a lifeguard watches over the water. There are plenty of opportunities to meet up for sports and games at the campsite. There is a sports field with a net for badminton or volleyball. Fancy some exercise after dinner? Then play a game of table tennis or petanque. The trampoline is also a popular meeting place for children. The campsite managers also provide games that you can borrow.

The camp-site is situated approximately 830 kilometres from London. From Paris you drive in the direction Bordeaux/Orléans. At Orléans motorway A71 direction Bordeaux/Vierzon. At Vierzon you take motorway A20. At junction 28 Angoulême /Périgueux you leave motorway A20. Follow the …signs Angoulême / Périgueux (N520). At the thirth roundabout take exit direction Périgueux /Aixe sur Vienne D2000. Follow this road untill the roundabout and take the exit Cognac-la-Forêt (D10). Drive until you reach Cognac-la-Forêt and follow the signs for the camping. After Cognac-la-Forêt you turn left to Les Alouettes. After approximately 400 meters you see Camping des Alouettes at your right-hand side. GPS N 45.825028° E 0.996881°
