Always friendly.The pitches for caravans have electricity, TV, water and waste water. The pitches vary in size, so there is something for everyone. The wash houses are sufficient and always clean. There are also kitchens, washing machines with dryers and a children's paradise for the little ones to take a shower. The... team has always been friendly and courteous for over 25 years that I have been coming here. For me, the number 1 on the entire Baltic coast. Shower coins.Beautiful place on the Baltic Sea.We were here in the summer. Fortunately not so crowded in Corona time!!! The beach was very good. And not far from the campsite. The place has two wash houses we were at the older wash house further back. Not super nice but clean and tidy. And the most important thing for us!
You can cycle very well... by the sea.
There is also a riding arena right next to the campsite but we couldn't use it because of Corona. Our daughter would have liked to do that.

If you want to sweat on the beach, you're not in good hands in the north.Relaxation guaranteed!We spent Easter here with our dog and were thrilled. As Butenkiel residents, we were familiar with the leisure opportunities, the endless and beautiful beaches and the wide, asphalted cycle path right on the dyke, but it's even nicer to spend the night right there and enjoy it without having to travel.... We received a very friendly welcome at the campsite and, despite the late hour, were given detailed advice about available pitches. So we had the perfect pitch for us. There is water at every pitch, no more lugging to the toilet block! The most beautiful dog beach in the entire Bay of Kiel is only ten minutes away by bike. The site was quite full, but still tiptop clean and very well maintained everywhere. The taps in the individual washing cubicles are so high that washing your hair doesn't require any special acrobatics, and the 50 cents for the shower was easily enough for long hair including conditioner. The fact that dogs are not allowed in the high season is solely due to the behavior of the owners. Because the piles belong in the garbage can and you don't want to be barked at on vacation either. None.A relaxing Easter weekendWe (2 adults and a dog) spent Easter 2019 at this beautiful campsite directly behind the Baltic Sea dike. The infrastructure is completely available and functional and well maintained and clean. Certainly not at the very latest technical level but nothing is missing. The sanitary facilities are spotless,... the staff friendly and helpful, the crowd relaxed and quiet. The kilometer-long beach is right next to the campsite. Fine white sand, small dunes, lots of nature, little hustle and bustle. There is even a real dog beach between Buhne 4 and 5 (at the Heidkate lighthouse) to ensure that four-legged friends also get their money's worth. The highlight was the huge (!) Easter bonfire on Easter Saturday. The kids loved it, there were plenty of grilled sausages for everyone, and the adults got their money's worth at the beer stand. Once again: the whole thing was very relaxed and down-to-earth (and no - fortunately there is no entertainment at all on this site). On a positive note: a longer-term employee (we knew her from the previous year) had the kiosk well under control, but unfortunately she was usually working one floor up in the restaurant. Nice flat ground - electricity and water connections in the immediate vicinity. Sanitary facilities ok but can not keep up with really... modern sani houses (therefore no 5 star overall rating - but you do not sit on the pot for hours :-)). ). Wifi about 14 € a week with - for camping conditions - good performance. Nice gimmick: the barrier system of the campsite opens automatically by license plate recognition - you don't need to fiddle around with a machine...In mid-June still nice and empty - occupancy of the campsite at most 40%...Supermarket on site with good bread rolls and the necessary odds and ends. Snack bar (contrary to the camping info description) unfortunately only open at weekends in early June. Restaurant (closed on Tuesdays) highly recommended with reasonable prices (but it takes just under an hour for the ordered food to be on the table...) reserve a table at the weekend if necessary! Then the permanent campers are there.... Shopping facilities in Schönberg 5 km (Aldi, Penny, Sky). In the village of California there's virtually nothing except restaurants...the meat counter in the Edeka is smaller than the one at the campsite lol...even an ATM is missing...unbelievable! A stone's throw from the campsite to the beach :-) The beach is unbeatable by Baltic Sea standards - clean, few stones, great sand. Between the beach and the dyke there are some dunes and a very wide asphalted path - great for cycling! On the dyke there is an endless paved footpath - with a great view! We were there regularly with our family in the 90s. Last year in May we visited the site again. It wasn't that busy, which isn't a bad thing. However, the pitches were not ready for the upcoming season, the grass was still 20 cm high... and had not been mown. The restaurant and snack bar were mostly closed, only the store was open a lot with a very good selection. All in all disappointing. The place hasn't changed much in the last 20 years, has somehow stood still. We liked the proximity to the beach.
