- Klaus-Peter A.July 2023PozitívneRelatively close to the city center, very clean, spacious pitches, friendly staffNegatívneNo restaurant in the immediate vicinityNice place for sightseeingVery nice pitch in relative proximity to the city center. The pitches are spacious and can be chosen freely on arrival. Very clean washrooms and toilets despite high occupancy (no waiting times at any time).
We cycled from the pitch to the city center, which was very easy along the sea and via a cycle... path on a former railroad line.
The only downside is that there is no restaurant for dinner and no store in the immediate vicinity. Nevertheless, full marks for the place.
Note: As newcomers to Scotland, this was the first time we recognized the advantage of a gravel pitch. Despite heavy rain, there was no mud on the doorstep and, thanks to the correct choice of stones, it was easy to walk on barefoot.Automaticky preložené. - Reni L.May 2022PozitívneBeautiful places clean great connection by bus to EdinburghNegatívneAircraft noiseWell located for sightseeing. Unfortunately aircraft noise3Very well-kept campsite. Extra small park for dogs - attention not completely fenced! Good and clean sanitary facilities, also with separate washbasins.
Unfortunately close to the airport and therefore noisy from the airplanes. Great connection by bus to Edinburgh.Automaticky preložené. - Christoph K.June 2019By FAR the most expensive - but extremely well maintainedThe site is extremely clean and well-kept, the staff friendly and helpful. But at 39 pounds (1 motorhome, 2 adults) it was by far the most expensive on our Scotland tour. The airport can't be ignored either, but it's not so bad that you can't sleep. The site is ideal for sightseeing trips to Edinburgh.Automaticky preložené.
- Dieter W.May 2019PozitívneWell-kept, close to the city, quiet. Helpful staff.Negatívnenone (except for the bicycle thieves and the staff can't help that)Beautiful placeAt the Camping and Caravan Club site in Edinburgh, the reception warned us about bike thieves when we checked in. On the very first night, an attempt was actually made to steal our beautifully laid out and well-kept site with friendly and helpful staff. Minibus (every half hour from the site) or public... bus to Edinburgh city center. ATTENTION: At the Camping and Caravan Club site in Edinburgh, the reception warns you of bicycle thieves when you check in. On the very first night, an attempt was actually made to break into our bike locks. For this reason, the campsite offers special lockable containers for storing bikes, which you should use. This is not a devaluation of the campsite, on the contrary, the staff were always very open-minded and helpful in this matter. We would choose this campsite again at any time.Automaticky preložené.
- Stephan R.July 2018PozitívneLocation, proximity to the city center, cleanliness and very nice staffTop for sightseeingThe sites of the British Caravanning Club are actually all in very good condition, so you can't really go wrong. The site is ideal for sightseeing in Edinburgh and the region. A tip if you are on the promenade along the waterfront. One kilometer to the west, you can use a path to a small island, but only at low tide.Automaticky preložené.
- Jürgen J.July 2018PozitívneLocation by the seaNegatívneExpensiveBeautiful but expensiveon our round trip this was the most expensive place, as a non-member there are hefty surcharges, so that we came with WoMo and 2 'adults with dog to 83 GBP for 2 nights ;o( (22-24.07.2018) The facilities are all well maintained and clean. The flight noise is only bearable because Edinburgh is not one... of the busiest airports. Location to the North Sea / Firth of Fourth possible in a few minutes with the dog, great. The location to the center of Edinburgh is also good.Automaticky preložené.
- Renate G.March 2015PozitívneConvenient for visits to Edinburgh. Working WiFiIdeal for EdinburghThe site is well managed and can also be booked in advance, which could be useful in the high season. We didn't find the site straight away as it isn't very well signposted. Basic groceries such as bread and milk are available on site. As almost everywhere in the UK, you are told exactly how to position... your caravan. The pitches are pleasantly large, mostly paved, which is an advantage in the Scottish weather. The whole site makes a very well-kept and intact impression. The proximity to the airport didn't bother us. The site also offers WiFi, which works well (2.50 pounds/24 h)Automaticky preložené.
- Karl Thomas K.July 2011The site is easy to find and the reception is friendly. The pitches are more than big enough and graveled. The sanitary buildings are very clean and modern - not a matter of course in the UK. I personally hardly noticed the "aircraft noise" and therefore didn't find it annoying. Please note - the public... bus station directly in front of the campsite has been closed. However, a shuttle bus runs directly from the CP to the city. However, we used the public buses, whereby the next station can be reached on foot in 15 minutes and the connection to the center is via 2 lines. Catering is possible in 2 supermarkets, which are approx. 2.5 - 3 km awayAutomaticky preložené.
- René R.May 2011The site belongs to the Caravan Club and is very well managed. The pitches are gravelled and separated from each other by lawns. Some pitches border directly on a road (separated by a hedge). The site itself is close to the airport approach path. Paths and green areas are very well maintained. Very clean... facilities for fresh water, waste water, toilet disposal and waste. Clean washrooms, exclusively with individual washing cubicles. The camping store offers an extremely rudimentary range of food, no shopping facilities within walking distance. W-LAN costs 5 pounds / 5 h, valid on all Caravan Club pitches. The public bus station in front of the site is no longer served. The nearest bus stop is a 10-15 minute walk away. However, there is a regular shuttle service from the site to the city center. The banks of the Firth of Forth are a 10-15 minute walk away. There is a beautiful riverside promenade.Automaticky preložené.
- Walter C.September 2010The site is one of the best in Scotland in terms of facilities and condition. People usually come here to visit Edinburgh. The walk to the bus stop and the bus ride take almost an hour. But other places aren't any closer. Aircraft noise can be heard, but is still bearable (not directly in the flight path).Automaticky preložené.
- Linus W.August 2010A beautiful, well-kept campsite just outside Edinburgh. There is a separate meadow for tents with a covered cooking area (great in the rain!). Toilet block was clean and cleaned daily. Bus stop was unfortunately about 10-15 mins away and it takes a while to get into town. The campsite is right by the sea, so it got quite cold at night and we were a bit chilly.Automaticky preložené.
